@Choporoz Forgot to mention, I let the gear oil drain for several hours regardless of temperature. It just makes for less mess. Pull the drain plug and vent plug and come back later.

So wait ! Starting an outboard out of water to warm up isn't an option ❓ I must watch to many YouTube videos. 😁 Personally, I do all boat maintenance at the end of " our " fishing season. Oil and filter change, grease fittings, spline, lower unit. BUT not when it's this dang cold. Confession - boat sits in a heated garage. If you're going to do it, let it drain for 24 hours and finish it up the next day.

Wow this thread is revealing some serious dedication 😳. I've never bass fished below upper 30's. Fished lake Anna several years ago with an air temperature of 98* and water temp 95*....... thought that was extreme.

Think it's an old wives ' tale, kinda like dryer sheets. 😁 To keep feet warm: Thin synthetic socks with wool over top and quality pair of 2000g thinsulate boots. I'd rather have cold feet vs dumping a cocktail of ingredients into my boots 🥾.

I'm going to find out this year. Friend of mine bought a jet boat and plans to fish the Susquehanna for smallmouth quite a bit. I'm mainly a lake fisherman for LM so I'll be " flipping " to brownies this spring.
