  1. It's that time of year that I go through all my tackle and got a question. I throw a ton of fluke style baits and go thru them. I throw them on Owner EWG 4.0 screw locks and while they are fantastic hooks for these baits, it rips the nose out quicker than other methods. I have packs apon packs of these ripped baits. What is your method of getting more use out of them ? Melting ?
  2. Indiana vs Ohio State is gonna be a heavyweight clash. Clearly the 2 best teams in the country.
  3. Said that last year about this time and ended up failing miserably. Just yesterday I did my yearly reel maintenance.....it took all day.😔
  4. Well I've come well equipped with a simple mind so a simple approach is inevitable 😁. Having owned many boats and fishing kayaks, portability doesn't equate to simplicity. I find a bass boat much simpler than even a kayak but a ramp is required. No physical labor involved with a bass boat and nothing gets removed after a day of fishing other than a couple of empty water bottles. I get the maintenance though, Oil changes, lower unit, tire pressure. Oh who is Thoreau ❓
  5. I live in the mountains so a leaf blower is a must. Have a Echo 770t that will blow snow and fold the mirrors in on my truck 😂.
  6. Top baits for the year. Spinnerbait " been so for years " Jigs " biggest fish every year " Jackall Flickshake GPC " numbers " Ned rig " very surprised by it this year " Drop-shot " hard to beat in clear water ".
  7. This fell on my backpack while deer hunting last week in Western VA. Looks more like popcorn 🍿
  8. Fired up the wood furnace this morning. Mid 30's for lows much of this week.
  9. I do it all the time. Actually have a gun cabinet in my man cave dedicated to fishing exclusively. It's darn near full from attempts to reduce inventory on the boat. The bigger issue is, I follow a thread or watch a video and the boat mysteriously fills back up 😳
  10. If your talking recently then it's a Ned rig. The last lake I fished for 2 weeks straight, was trying to get on a pattern. Water temp was 80's, clear water and couldn't get the volume of fish I wanted. Finally switched to Ned and the numbers went up drastically so stuck with it and had a fantastic 2nd week of fishing. Stupid looking bait that simply catches fish.
  11. Welcome to Bass recourses 😁
  12. Well you need to incorporate the bait monkey into the equation. Google " big fish swims under kayak " and buy the suggested baits...... you'll definitely catch it.
  13. My Lawd, If I caught more fish then I already do, I don't know what I'd do with myself 😁
  14. Misses Swamp, I burn a lot of wood and have to devote quite a bit of time cutting and I'm an avid deer hunter so there goes the entire month of November. I'll still be on here to see if you reach your goal. 👍
  15. This was my last trip in 2025. A 58 acre remote lake in WV that is overpopulated with small bass but still a fun day. They hit everything I threw. Most were caught on spinnerbait, several on a RipStop, several on Ned and several on a Flickshake. I believe I caught 25 in 3 hours. Overcast, drizzle and no wind at all. Water temp 72*.
  16. I've never strayed from a certain price point that I'm willing to pay for a rod and reel. So am I really missing out. ❓Idk St. Croix Mojo Bass, Dobyns Sierra paired with a Sierra or SLX ...... that's been holy grail. I recently bought a 13 fishing Omen Gold as a Ned rod and have been very impressed. High-end to me is the highest I'm willing to pay for gear.
  17. Welcome to this site.
  18. I may have 1 more trip left before I start running chainsaws in preparation for next winter....... like to stay a year ahead. Got out yesterday morning to a lake with at least 15 ft of visibility, very clear. Caught several on drop-shot and most on a Ned in California craw. Overcast and no wind at all, water temp 72*.
  19. That there is a jig skirt, green pumpkin pepper....... someone else is fishing that pond.
  20. Have great health, spiritual well being and an epic year of fishing..... life is good.
  21. Bought my 2023 in the winter of 2022 with an out-the-door price. Only out of pocket expense that I added was graphs. Of course the boat triggered a bait buying frenzy BUT.....
  22. I have 16 rods on the boat that stay rigged so I may grab a different rod but never change baits on a given rod.......the same bait remains on the same rod at all times. My only gripe is having to dig to the bottom of the rod locker which usually indicates I'm struggling 😂
  23. Here are 2 of my favorites. Bass assassin ( top ) Keitech shad impact ( bottom )
  24. SuperLube for gears and sewing machine oil for bearings.
  25. It's crazy how top draft picks are forced into the starter rolls instead of learning behind veterans. Both QB's look like Dak 😀....... sorry.
