  1. I keep 16 rods and reels on the boat and they stay rigged up year around with the same bait. When I move to different bodies of water I simply look at water clarity and water temps and go from there. Also don't experiment with weights if something is working. Example: I've only thrown 1/8 Drop-shot and 1/16 Ned, never tried anything else. Simple mind at work here 😉
  2. Some really good reads up in here.
  3. I started fishing as a very young child. We had a 7 acre farm pond and a big creek below the house that was full of fish. My job a couple times per week was to catch fish for dinner with my Zebco. It got me out of garden work 😁 All the big bass from the farm pond broke my line. I became a serious bass fisherman in 1977 when I met a tournament fisherman at the county Fair. Invited him to the farm pond that very evening and he put on an absolute clinic, catching giant bass with a Zara spook. He revamped all my fishing gear and took me with him on his Skeeter couple times per week. He's been my best friend ever since. He old now and not in good health but I still fish with him several times per year in my boat.
  4. Very slow drag. 1/8 weight 12" below bait.
  5. Actually pretty sweet looking..... I'd wear them.
  6. I'm not a picky eater by no means but would take the Ribeye. Of course seared on charcoal and then smoked with Apple wood.....rare. Favorite - Porterhouse
  7. Here the SM like white, even white spinnerbaits. In the river I throw 1/4 oz with a 3" Zako trailer, retrieving just fast enough to feel the thump.
  8. When an aggressive beaver swims up to the boat and slams his tail.....in the dark. There was a transmission shop just up the road, I thought someone threw one off the bridge. 😁
  9. From your list - Vexus. I spent the day at a Vexus dealership while waiting on my boat and was extremely impressed with their product. Dealer location would be a consideration. Oh speed ❓ well call me a wimp but I get on plane and run 30 mph regardless of the size of lake...... feels like 60. 😄
  10. I don't keep track and don't always have a camera but do enjoy seeing other's catches. Oh and I do remember a skunk 🦨
  11. Happy birthday @A-Jay
  12. Enjoyed the video, thanks for sharing.
  13. Insurance is minimal on a Bass boat, much lower than one would expect. I pay $ 362 per year. Maintenance is minimal and if you can do it yourself, it's a non issue and as easy as your wife's vehicle. Once per year, change the oil, grease the 3 fittings on motor, grease the splines on prop and check water level on batteries. Every 3k miles, grease the wheel bearings on trailer. A impeller replacement takes 25 minutes and I do it every 5 years along with fuel filter.
  14. I throw flukes a lot myself and do so on a Lews KVD GS1 M-XF. Prefer spinning because flukes skip really well and I can't skip with casting gear. Prefer XF action because of the quick darting action of the fluke. I throw them 2 different ways depending on cover. 5.0 owner screw lock for 5" flukes in grass and pads. Scamper rig in shallow water, early spring 4"....... favorite. Also like the action of Bass assassin as well.
  15. Never once have I tried to cast with my off hand. I do have right hand and left hand baitcasters and feel equally at home with either.
  16. VA - April = biggest fish May = best month for quality and numbers. June = good month for numbers July = slowing down August = slow, gotta go early September = unpredictable but as mentioned can be really good October and November = idk for sure, cutting wood and deer hunting takes center stage.
  17. Have never released a Snakehead, they go into the frying pan......and they are invasive.
  18. My cousin caught this 12lb snakehead today on a spinnerbait.
  19. @Fishingmickey Nope she never asked 😁
  20. What model is that ❓ The one I looked at didn't have starlink, deal killer 😁
  21. Couple of years ago I bought a Bass Raider, 55 lb trolling motor, deep cycle battery and fish finder. My intention was to use it on the river and ponds. Well then I bought a Bass boat and found it to comfortable and hardly any labor involved. Wife put the Bass Raider on FB market place for $750...... gone in 20 minutes.
  22. I use an inflatable " Onyx M " and while comfortable, there is that what if. Glad to hear you found it when you did.
  23. Rarest critter around here would be tree snakes. Everyone looks at me in disbelief when I show them pics even the old-timers. They are not aggressive at all.
  24. Top water jerkbait then a buzz bait, in that order.
  25. I've never experienced any significant differences in fishing wind blown banks, hear about it alot but sun direction works better for me in most cases. Light wind is very different than a gusting wind. Light wind is tolerable and gives me an excuse to throw a spinnerbait. Strong winds gives me an excuse to stay home.
