You have range. That's cool. I've fly-fished a couple times for smallies and bluegills, but this spring, my neighbor is going to give me lessons. He fishes for Atlantic salmon and specks in Newfoundland, so he's hardcore.

Welcome. Have a blessed day!

Hi, from the sunshine state of Florida.

Wild Atlantic salmon are definitely on the bucket list of many fly-fisherman. Another interesting possibility for those in the NE USA is the Poor Man’s Salmon:   “The American Shad”.  Fly fishing for these has much of the fun associated with  Steelhead/ Salmon without the high cost.

Learning to fly fish is on my bucket list this spring. Welcome to a great site.

I suggest starting out by keeping  it simple; like shallow panfishing with poppers.  FF does not appeal to everyone. My favorite memory of FF for Largemouth bass was fishing an old adandon canal with deer hair bugs I tied myself.  I’ve caught larger bass since, using a variety of methods but  none were more satisfying.
