  1. queen tackle ls tungsten head. 2/0 fits them perfect.
  2. beast coast blade runner is tough to beat. really shines on both ends of the spectrum--really cold/really hot. Zman Chattershad is also really solid. Biggest thing about a bladed jig in cold water for me is how you fish it. slow pumping, yoyo, fishing it with your rod are all ways ive described how i fish it with success. bottom contact is always key for me in the winter, despite how much of a nervous wreck it can make you slow rolling a 18 dollar bait lol
  3. trade them in to the electronic shop on your new upgrade, will at least cover install + some of the new stuff. i had a busted lower unit on my old ghost, traded that in along with the rite hite and took off around 1600 bucks on the new garmin
  4. 3.5 inch zman jerkshad does really well on these & the baby jack
  5. did you ever find anyone to go with or get on them? douglas is the best lake around for numbers of fish. you really do not need anything other than a jerkbait, shaky head, keitech, lipless, or bladed jig from february-december. go somewhere else in january, it aint good lol couple pics from up there, im sure you recognize the guy on the far right
  6. sir melton hill is full of dinks that smother out the big ones. I think the size of fish in that lake is due more to TVA constantly running 50 degree water out of norris, but some harvesting would do that place a lot of good
  7. paraphrasing here but i remember hearing something along the lines of "not much better than a 15 inch brownie" 🤣
  8. Absolute magician! Many thanks
  9. ive been around since 2018, my old account was tied to an email that no longer exists hence the 2.0 lol i certainly enjoy reading their posts--i was really picking on @TnRiver46 more than trying to get in a big brown fish contest with @A-Jay
  10. as do the 6 1/2s northern smallies are almost like a completely different species compared to the ones here in the south
  11. hard to beat a green pumpkin hula stick on a 3/16 berkley fusion shakey head, year round lol
  12. how do you keep the turds from melting together? ive wasted a fair amount of money trying to store those things in ANYTHING other than the regular bag lol
  13. LOL i'm talking about when you're standing on the front of the boat and get the feet tingles!
  14. I'm sure most of you have seen the Rams little trick to keep their feet warm at soldier field sprinkling some cayenne pepper in their socks. Rumor is that it certainly helps, this one was new to me and going to give it a shot really soon. What are some other things you guys have tried? Personally i've covered my feet in vaseline then wrapped with a grocery bag, seemed to work pretty well and my feet never got that cold wet clammy feeling.
  15. Same. requires both hands and all your toes! just stick with the good ole trusty double uni knot that takes about 20 seconds to tie. i think it's been pretty well proven over the last 2-3 years length of leader is overrated. only time i ever need a leader longer than 3-4 feet is if i'm fishing a moving river and want my light ned rig to actually make it to bottom. i do have a buddy, maybe 2 that throw braid on everything and tie big long FG leaders. if i throw braid on treble hooks there are going to be some lipless fish running around
  16. that is because they are spawning or close to it. milt release. ive never caught a big fat female spraying all over the place. Have had some fish drop a deuce on me/the boat. always accredited that to my ferocious hookset and scaring the crap out of em
  17. correct. i've caught smallies out of 40+ and if i CPR in a timely manner they swim away just as fast as they came. if you throw them in the livewell, for like any amount of time be prepared to fizz
  18. ill be over there friday but it will be late afternoon, looks like the last decent day to fish for the next few weeks so ill be hitting the water friday AM
  19. slow roll an a-rig above those brushpiles and through the bait. make sure to burst it especially when going through or under the bait to generate a reaction strike(3 fast cranks--kill, 3 fast cranks-kill). largemouth only lake? if so put a 2.8 or 3.3 keitech on a 1/4 oz jighead and fish it like a jig
  20. 6-8 is on the very shallow end for this technique i'd be weary of your boat spooking them that shallow but anything under 12 feet i'm using a 3/16. i would look for at least 12-14 fow. If that's the deepest your lake gets tie on a 1/2 oz bladed jig or evo and fish it super slow, mainly with your rod, yoyoing it just enough to get the blade clackin.
  21. crappie fishing for them is the best way to catch them right now. find small ditches and hang a damiki rig about 1 foot off the bottom. they really do not even have to be ditches, more like small depressions. ---- x ---- kinda like how people will build a trench to protect theirself from the wind. i know the current fad is 'shaking' a minnow, but you need not shake. simply hold off side of boat with your rod tip about 10:00 and wait. you don't need advanced electronics to do this, turn on the a-scope feature on your downscan. when water temp is 40-47 this is the way. not uncommon for me to catch smallmouth with red clay on their bellies. lots of times you will not see any fish on your electronics prior to dropping down. 3 1/2 inch jerk shad in gussys glimmer blue will get ya bit, guaranteed
  22. I dont know when it isnt FFS season in these parts lol I could definitely see the deeper fish getting more pressure on the deep clear lakes Fontana, Hiwassee, Santeelah etc but IMO those fish are less susceptible to the dreaded cold front lock jaw. To your point i had 19.4 best 5 on watts bar last weekend until about 130p all caught on main lake points and bluff ends, pulled into a creek and fished for an hour and half or so, only got one bite but it was a 7.3 largemouth
  23. fishing the same areas in east tennessee as when cold(bluffs, main lake points, channel swings) but they usually just move up a bit. shallow jerkbait & pumping an a rig just under the bait balls will continue to be pretty effective here from now through easterish. I think the warmer weather brings out more fisherman than it does changing the fish patterns, wouldn't stray too far from your deep mostly unbothered fish. Longer days seem to effect fish migration more so than water temps around these parts. only 39 days left until the sun sets at 700pm
  24. I pretty regularly target smallmouth around here year round. Fishing a lot of tournaments throughout the year makes it tough to strictly go after smallmouth because a majority of the lakes in our area have a 1 keeper limit from may-october. If i'm going fishing for fun i almost always target smallies just because the hunt is something i can't get enough of. I think a lot of it is determined by where ya live, I live in the south but fish a lot like the northern guys. Their style and tactics are usually more in line with smallmouth fishing than largemouth
  25. yeah man setting the hook on a DS is a sure fire way to lose fish. Just reel tight and lift, the lightwire hook will button in the top of their mouth. because the pressure changes, if you are shaking on slack line you will notice it. The nice thing about finesse presentations is you don't have to detect the bite immediately, it's not like you are throwing a jig and have to immediately set the hook. Make sure they are there then reel em tight and get ready to do some laps around the boat if it's a big brown fish
