  1. congratulations!
  2. I used the small one.
  3. If you want to catch Peacocks get you a Rapala X-rap in bone white or orange. Depending on where you fish you will more likley catch baby gar and bass as well. I target bridges or any kind of pocket in the canal(but it won't be much). Whenever I go down there I put in at Holiday park and fish that part of the glades.
  4. Them Cats are FAST! Not much on the water that get there faster. Congrats!
  5. Owner cutting point hooks are what I use for flukes. 5/0 for magnum flukes and Beast hooks in 8/0 for anything 6-8 inches. Anything over 8 I use a 10/0 beat.
  6. I was just getting ready to say the Yozuri 3dbs are very underrated. Matter of fact I have a tournament on Norman next week and I have one tied on right next to a BooYah buzzbait right now!
  7. 10 feet or less is always a 1/8th ounce for me.
  8. I feel like with a heavy gauge flipping hook you need a really hard hookset. Also for what it's worth I will ONLY use a flipping hook with a monofilament keeper. I don't feel like you have as good of a hookup ratio with plastic keeper hooks. I only use flipping hooks around heavy cover and an EWG on a TX rig specifically. I don't feel like one is superior over the other though. Just different hooks for different jobs.
  9. Being a die hard Abu guy I'll be getting one eventually whether I want to or not.
  10. I was told by one of the mechanics at my boat dealership when I asked him a while back that the 24volt system actually draws less amperage or something along those lines because it is split over two batteries and the old wiring should be fine for 24v but 36 would be too much.? However, he DID tell me that before I switched over to 24V I would want to get the wiring tested as all boat manufacturers aren't the same and use different quality wiring just to make sure. Sounds kinda weird to me but I am not a boat mechanic so. I ended up staying with 12V anyways as I got a good deal on a new 12V motor that was on sale.
  11. Its a moderate action.
  12. For a Texas rig I usually use an EWG and for a Carolina rig always an offset worm hook and a flipping hook for my punch rod. I don't think I really ever use an actual straight shank hook at all except for minnow fishing for crappie.
  13. My boat is an 06I've got some pretty good worn spots in the carpet in high traffic areas. I am going to replace the carpet in the next year or two. I am 90% sold on some kind of sea deck foam covering. Being my boat is a fish and ski I think that would actually be better all around anyways since I use it for family ski outings and picnics at the beach during the summer months.
  14. Went to the flea market yesterday and found a kistler Helium 7'10 Xtra Heavy for 40 bucks(New price is 299.00)!!!! It is in like new shape and I am thinking this would make a great glide bait rod. I'm pretty much good on heavy rods but I couldn't pass it up due to the price. Anybody got any better Ideas for it?
  15. Spro Spin John 80 Rebel Deep wee R and the Wee R Booyah Pond magic Z dude BFS Mini Max I use Seaguar 6lbs red label.
  16. Truck monkey got me about ten years ago but I outsmarted him. I bought a new Toyota and now Truck monkeys whispers fall on deaf ears.
  17. 100% can confirm and he doesn't get along with your wife AT ALL!
  18. Well, here goes nothing.
  19. Hit the flea market yesterday and struck gold! Dirty jigs for 3 apiece, Rapala, Mavrick 110s for 7 each, a 6th sense Trace 3.75 which is impossible to find around here for 10 bucks and a Rapala fat rap(which I collect) for 5
  20. I'd move about an hour and a half down the road so I could be ion the banks of Hartwell instead of an hour and a half away.

OK I will achieve one of two things with this post. I will convey what I am trying to say and it will make sense or, I will sound like a complete idiot and I should probably have my meds checked. Either way, here goes. When I am fishing a bottom dragging lure such as a Texas rig I try to simplify things as much as possible. If I can "Feel" or "see" the fish I try to set the hook as soon as possible. By feeling or seeing I mean feeling a tap, thump, or watching my line go sideways. Bass usually hit a lure after you stop moving it so this is the key time to be paying attention. Now If I don't feel the bass but something doesn't feel right I make sure and wind all the slack in, because in mind if I don't feel anything I picture the bass is swimming towards me and I need to tighten up before whomping him. Probably most importantly though, remember, bass eat fish with spines, crawdads with a shell and pincers so I believe that they don't really care what the lure feels like in their mouth. They get poked and prodded with sharp stuff they eat all the time. So if they spit it out it isn't because they were like "Uh oh this isn't food!" and spits it right back out. I think alot of time they spit because when they eat they feel even just the slightest amount of tension from the line pulling on the bait which sets off alarm bells.
  22. When he has them in stock I like Battlebaits. For the Micro spinnerbaits his Minigun is unbeatable. (Problem is, his stuff is so popular he sells out soon as he makes a drop on his website). My backup company is 911 custom lures and they are local here to NC. Their hidden weight spinnerbait is amazing. If you're not a custom bait kind of person the Booyah "Pond magic" micro spinnerbait is the best mass produced on the market available at Walmart and the War Eagle spinnerbaits just simply work also available at Walmart.
  23. I was THIS close to picking Dollar Bill and passed on him. I'm kicking myself.
  24. My highest guy after day 1 is in 51st place. lol
