  1. Tool is awesome. I love metallica despite some of the poor choices they have made musically and regarding how they treat fans. I'm also finally giving megadeth a chance and like them. Also I've always loved Black Sabbath with or without Ozzy. Dio did a great job after him.
  2. Myself as well...normally...may be an all day guy now
  3. Kinda wish David Fritts would write a cranking book
  4. Crankbaits are probably the biggest hole in my game. I mean there are things I don't throw but overall I have a pretty well rounded skill set. Don't get me wrong I throw cranks and do ok but I feel like crankbait fishing is kind of an art form...and I wanna dig into it. Anybody know of any books dedicated to cranking? Any articles that stick out in your mind? I'm looking at you...big time crankbait guys...and gals
  5. Depends on the trailer for me. With something that has good action like a big single tail grub or a menace I use a straight retrieve. If I'm using something like a zoom ultravibe speed craw a I do the shake the rod tip thing to get the claws really going. Some guys call it cracking the whip.
  6. People walking up and fishing right next to me as if that is ever acceptable especially during a disease outbreak. Just happened a couple weeks ago. Gear grinder number 1? Garbage I hate trash that leave trash...people are worthless and disgusting sometimes
  7. I fish a lot of slightly stained water and do well with senkos. That color is dark enough yet natural enough to work in a lot of water conditions. I wouldn't throw it in Crystal clear or mud...anything in between is fair game.
  8. This pond/small lake I'm fishing has almost no vegetation. It is bordered by a river and has been flooded 5 or 6 times in the past 4 years..so the grass got tore out and it never gets established before getting ripped out again. Only thing I can think is with all the flooding maybe there is a lot of silt and mud in places making those nothing banks more appealing because there is at least hard bottom? I'm not sure...kinda throwing ideas out
  9. This is something I'll echo to an extent. Out of my say 10 biggest bass I've ever caught I'd bet half of them came when it was too something..hot,cold,stormy. I was walking down to a weedy parks pond a few summers ago one evening when it was a zillion degrees and not a breath of breeze. Saw I guy say hey I tried and can't catch anything..implying I was wasting my time. On my 4th or 5th cast I caught one between 5 and 6 lbs in a frog. Last summer I caught a 5.5lb on a wacky rigged finesse worm in either July or August in the middle of the afternoon. I'm a firm believer in fishing times other people wont...it keeps fish unpressured. And as mentioned above although conditions aren't ideal bass still have to eat.
  10. Well I bought a 7ft heavy aird x casting rod a while back after reading reviews about it being a great budget frog rod. Prior to this I have thrown frogs on a Berkley shock 6 ft6 medhvy and 7 ft medhvy. And tho I love the shocks for many applications I have to say the daiwa is a much better frog stick in my opinion. For $55 this thing is a steal.
  11. Ok well maybe I'm the only dude on the planet that doesn't use jerkbaits in the summer. Guess I know what I'm experimenting with this weekend.
  12. So last night I went out from 6:30 until 9...what I would consider prime time...and caught 13 bass. Mostly dinks but had 3 or 4 quality fish. Today I decided to challenge myself and went out from 1230 until 3...what I would consider the worst time of day. I ended up catching 9...again dinkville with maybe 2 good fish in there. I caught 3 flipping a jig...no surprise there. Caught 1 on a shad rap...also not surprising. What did surprise me was I caught 5 and had several other bites on a frog. The reason it shocked me was I wasn't fishing weeds or pads. Several bites were around rock or wood but most of them on random nothing banks with no cover. Still learning!
  13. Some trash left some trash at the boat ramp on my local lake today..empty worm containers and a broken sinker. They also forgot a brand new pair of needlenose pliers. I'll throw away a little garbage for a $6 tool anyday. Probably ticked them off when they realized they lost em. Small dose of karma. It would be double awesome if I run into them sometime and overhear them say they lost the pliers. Maybe id even tell them I found them and I'm keeping them as a fee for being the garbage man.
  14. BOSS swim jig head...handmade bluegill skirt trimmed northern style and tied with braid..summer craw rage menace rigged on its side
  15. It's a typical moving bait bite just sort of lose track of the bait for a second. I just reel down til I feel weight then sweep into the fish. A lot of the hookset is done with the reel.
  16. Where did you buy yours from?
  17. I'm not very far behind you on water temp(mid 70s) but I'm over a month behind you on topwater bites. I didn't start catching any on top until late may. I probably should have tried more early but I was smoking em on a swim jig and never really switched. Now I wish I would have.
  18. Does anybody buy the big 1lb spools? If so what is your go to? Where do you order from? I'm considering getting 1lb spools of 12 and 15 izorline xxx
  19. Anytime the water is under 55 degrees im pretty confident in a jerkbait. But once that water warms up I don't even touch them for some reason. Who throws a jerkbait even in the warm water period? I'm talking mostly for largemouth
  20. Maybe..haha. Just messing man I'm sure other guys are struggling. My fish have really started eating topwater in the past week or so for me. In the past 2 trips I've fished about 5 hours total-half of that throwing a buzzbait. I've caught 14 largemouth on it.
  21. I thought it sounded good..guys are throwing 3in senkos on it...can't be that different
  22. This is how I feel about my home lake especially regarding bass. I'm not to stingy on details about bluegill, crappie or catfish...but the bass are a different story. I've spent 20 years figuring it out and I'm not about to freely cough all that hard work earned info up to just anybody. I've got 1 buddy that I share it all with...he's a member here...and another guy I share about 50% with. Both guys understand the importance of not spreading this around and also know that if they break my trust in it that I won't get mad but I'll stop giving them reports and info. Neither guy has ever done that because they want it to stay quiet as well. The reason I'm protective is because this lake is 2 minutes from my house and is like to keep it productive. 23. Was gonna say you could maybe rob bluebassers house...last I saw on here he had a lot of the devil spears. Of course he's a cop which means he's armed and already aware of people's bad nature...so it may not work out well? obviously I'm kidding and do not condone this!
  24. We have had the talk on here a lot of times on how you feel about people keeping bass. Alot of opinions on the subject but we all usually agree that if it's done legally then there is not much you can say. It still hurts if your a catch and release guy to see that big of a group exploiting a resource. It may be legal but that's still a big pile of fish so I get it. Hurts even worse when you feel like your generosity is being taken advantage of. Sad part about it is it makes a guy more skeptical of others intentions making you less likely to help anybody in the future..even if their intentions are within your morals. Meaning you could miss out on helping a teen that really wants to learn or maybe miss out on a friendship with a possible fishing buddy because your gunshy to trust.
  25. Huh didn't even know they made them. They are spendy but they look good.
