  1. Caught this beast while pike fishing
  2. Search the site, there’s several threads on them. People seem to like the rods but be ready to wait months for a rod once ordered.
  3. Yea it’s the st croix legend X 8’8” heavy. I’ve been using as a pike rod & the exposed blank leaves bruises in the armpit and surrounding areas. I don’t have the same issues with my musky setups which are full cork. i have enough half finished projects I think this one is best to pay to have done. if there’s a rod builder in central Mass who’s interested please PM me.

  10. Personally I’d find a 200-300 size reel for that rod power
  11. Unless I missed a new line of rods from st croix, the victory will be the closest in terms of price and should be a slight step up in performance. knock on wood I’ve never had to make a warranty claim with at croix so I can’t help there.

  14. I had a hollow frog that was torn up by a pike. It would fill with water quickly and sink. It worked well on bass until another pike finished it off.

  18. Why not use the rod it’s on now? A “bass” rod won’t know its reeling in a trout
