  1. Nice fish. The bottom looks.like a brown tho. Tail is too.square for a salmon
  2. Not knowing the reel model it’s tough to give accurate advice. You said old, so newer bent handles will most likely not work with strait star drag knob.
  3. Really only one way to find out
  4. When the “crew teams” are out on my local lake I enjoy trimming the motor way up and motoring slowly from buoy to buoy. It looks like they enjoy the 3’ rollers.
  5. Tournament people that have zero courtesy for others on water. They blow by you at full throttle, a few times at arms length. will crowd you out of a spot and finally park behind you at boat launch
  6. Gary Loomis was diagnosed with terminal prostate cancer and sold the company. Fortunately he survived.
  7. Save you a few bucks. St croix avid
  8. How many fish are you weighing? I might weigh 1 or 2 fish a year. I can estimate the weight of bass within a few ounces.
  9. Mass state record is 47” 35lbs I submitted a 51” fish for consideration. It was certified at 29lbs.
  10. there’s 30 pound pike in Massachusetts. There has to be a few in the thousands of Minnesota lakes
  11. Dardevle’s would probably fit the bill. Just change the hook
  12. Check out the specs on the NRX inshore line. also they used to make trout trolling rods. They were simply casting models of the trout spinning line. I have the CR 841 7’ ultra light. 2-5 lb 1/32-1/4
  13. Power ratings are all over with almost all manufacturers. Loomis is notoriously light. A M st croix is usually on par with MH Loomis. When shopping for rods focus on weight rather than H MH etc.
  14. If you’re looking for versatility get the 903.
  15. Ounce or heavier jackhammers or snap jigs bounced on bottom
  16. You said the spool is still pretty full. Maybe cut off 20 feet or so and see how the line is there
  17. Shoreline erosion from people walking & cutting the brush to fish.
  18. Hornwort is what the old timer I fished with called it. Not sure about any scientific names
  19. Find the schematic for the reel & get the part number for handle. Then do an internet search. Or just call Daiwa
  20. Depending on how weedy the water is I’m fishing, I use either the Loomis NRX 853C or 854C.
  21. That would take all the fun out of experimenting & learning these things on your own. also you might buy fewer baits
  22. And the app sells your fishing stats to the highest bidder
