  1. I'm gonna make a run of it. Do with it what you will.
  2. Not a huge Pearl Jam fan, but they really do an impressive live show. 8.5 Here's a stoner metal band doing an acoustic album. I love their electric work, but this is a very nice album.
  3. this is an outstanding greenhouse
  4. We have a couple dogs that keep the deer at bay for the most part, but you're absolutely right. The potential is there. We generally don't have much problem but are planning a serious cage around the beds once they are all done and I have the greenhouse built.
  5. If it goes to toilet paper, it can be deleted quickly. Like I said. Don't make it political. This is more about how we should all be more self reliant
  6. You're preaching to the choir. I'm a truck driver for a grocery chain. All drivers are working maximum hours and making as many deliveries as possible. We can't keep up.
  7. We're extending out our gardens after seeing how the grocery is in such a terrible state from the coronavirus. Right now my wife and I have twelve 4' x 8' raised beds. We'll be adding 6 more this spring. There are also three beds built from cinder blocks that are about 18' long. We've sunk 4 x 4 posts and nailed in 16' cattle panels to help climbing veggies and tomatoes that need support. There is room in my side yard for at least another 8 or 10 4' x 8' beds. This will probably be our herb garden and garlic beds. My wife has gotten a few more roosters to breed(happily I might add) our Americana hens. She's sterilizing her incubators for the fertilized eggs so we can expand our chicken and egg supply if the time comes. I'm buying another stand up freezer this week and will likely buy an older cow to slaughter for burger and cubed steak. I need a generator in case power goes out. I could also use it for primitive camping so I could charge my trolling batteries. If it were really super desperate times, I could always kill more deer. Not a fan of out of season killing, but desperate times calls for desperate actions. The fish supply around here is reasonably reliable if push comes to shove. Ammo??? I'm a redneck white boy from NC. I'm good with bullets. Since this bug has grabbed America by the short hairs and the panic is more dangerous than the disease, have you guys made moves to become more self reliant? If you've been living and prepping as a life style, how have you re-examined your tactics? Don't turn this political
  8. I made these for a long time. I caught a lot of fish with them, but have to confess I prefer a tube. These are 3/16oz ball head jigs with a wire weed guard hand tied with a Paca style chunk I used to make. I sold the plastics mold last year because I needed the room more than the mold.
  9. You'll love this rod. I have used the Avid in this power with a Shimano Stradic 2500 spooled with Power Pro 20# braid and a 12# P-Line leader for throwing 3" sticks and Ned rigs or 1/8oz finesse jigs. You have a very fun rod for river smallmouth, but it will handle respectable largemouth with ease.
  10. I started off wading the rivers a few decades ago. My back doesn't allow as much of that as I wish it would. Next was kayaking about 15 years ago. My shoulder is giving me troubles right now so kayaking is limited as well. I now have a 16' tiller steer jon boat. I like fishing out of it and can run shallower rivers than guys with fiberglass boats, but it is neither wading or kayaking. The one thing I can say about having a motor boat is that it has allowed me to explore more of the lake systems and I'm learning new ways to fish. Still, I wish my back and shoulder would quit making me feel like an old man so I could float and wade the rivers more
  11. rod choose is strictly a personal thing. I personally use a St. Croix Avid MLXF 6'8" spinning rod, but could easily go to a 7'1" Kistler Helium with a whippy tip. If it feels right to you, it is right for you.
  12. I lay them between my legs. I generally start off with 4-5 rods. Once the fish show me what they want, I'll slide 2-3 of those rods in the forward dry hatch and store them away. The Coosa has a big enough dry hatch to slide my rods into the hull. By the end of the float, I'll have 2-3 rods on deck. If I have a singular technique that is working, I always have that bait tied on two rods and everything else in the hull of the kayak. Keep in mind, I only use my kayak in super shallow rocky rivers. My kayak has never seen a lake or pond.
  13. No striped bass today but did snag a little guy
  14. I picked up a bunch of Z Man chatter baits at Ollies for $4 each. Havoc bugs were $2 a pack as were ZOOM plastics. They had a lot of all of it. If you have one near you, it might pay to swing by and see what's hanging on the racks
  15. Here's a song from one of my favorite albums.
  16. I have a dozen boxes of cranks, jerkbaits, swimbaits, top waters, ect, ect I have one tackle bag with at least 50 lbs of soft plastic. I keep making more plastics and jigs and spinnerbaits. I have no desire to quit. I will not count my tackle. It would force me to confront my addiction and I refuse an intervention
  17. The Sword Rory Gallagher Frank Marino and Mahogany Rush Judas Priest Gov't Mule Tyler Childers Johnny Cash Motorhead Uriah Heep Deep Purple Montrose Little Feat Marcus King Band Gary Clark Jr Stevie Ray Vaughn Billy Strings Tedeschi Trucks Band Southern Culture On The Skids Chris Cornell too many more to list. I gotta get ready to fish tomorrow
  18. I have an Alumacraft 1650 MV tunnel hull with an extended front deck and a 25 hp tiller steer and a 70# Minn Kota MAXXUM. If you get the chance, buy a jon with the maximum hp rated motor. Mine should have been a 40hp, and the 25hp has it under powered. I can still do 20-21mph, but faster is better when you can get it. If you have to make a financial sacrifice, do it with the big motor and get a 24V trolling motor system. Huge difference and money well spent. Depth finders can be added later with ease and they don't have to be expensive. Seating is another thing you can figure out later. The best thing I can tell you is to fish out of many boats and try as many styles of seating as possible. I have the roughliner on my boat deck and it really is slip resistant in rain, but if a 1/4oz jig hits the deck, every fish in the cove will hear it. Carpet is much quieter but comes with its own problems as well. Sea-Deck is an option, but I don't know how well it stands up over a 10 year period. Tunnel hulls are great at helping to protect the prop from shallow water bang ups, but they are prone to cavitation issues in tighter turns at speed. I didn't know this when I bought it, but I did find out. I also put on a rock hopper prop guard. It helps if you run shallow rocky areas or sub-surface stumps but robs about 3-4mph off my 25hp motor. Everything has a tradeoff. Here's how my boat started out and how I've tweeked it over the last two years with the finished product being what I want to fish out of. Positives are extended front deck, open floor plan, 24V trolling motor with recessed foot control, Command Post seat up front, aluminum trailer with swing tongue. The trailer was a must have to me because we travel with this boat. Negatives, need bigger motor, the tunnel hull is something that has come in handy at times, but it's largely un-needed and robs maneuverability, no storage unless I pack a couple tackle bags, and then the deck fills up quick.

  20. I really need to buy that mold. A buddy has it, but he lives over an hour away and it's just a huge issue with us being able to get our times to match
