Walmart jig deals
One of the two I got had a “bruised banana” color and the other was a chartreuse color. All total maybe 6-7 different colors but I didn’t look Closely to determine the exact amount of variations. Just got the two that I know I didn’t have.

Walmart jig deals
Yes they are in somewhat plentiful stock at my local Wally World right now as well. I picked up a couple of “off colors” that I know I didn’t have already. I was happy.

Wow. Bad time to need to restock on baits.
This is a fantastic time to support your local small mom and pop shops. My local shop that I frequent nearly every week still has a great selection with only pennies on the dollar difference in price.

Green/blue baits--a theory
Those color combinations have been doing damage here in Alabama for me as well in both river and lake. Googan baits has their crackin kraws that I’ve been using them in and they are awesome on a jig and t-rig setup.

How to fish a swim jig?

How to fish a swim jig?
Curious as to how exactly you fish a swim jig. I find myself wanting to straight retrieve the jig. I use all sizes of jigs(probably wrong with doing that) and I find it more comfortable to straight retrieve than to fish it on the bottom as if it were a T rig. I don’t exactly have the best luck with either way of using a jig and I’m trying to find a way to perfect my technique I guess. Ok, I have never caught a fish on a jig....but I have gotten a couple bites.... Lake and river with tree tops in water for cover and rocky banks/bottoms. Mostly clear water but with an occasional stain after a good rain. Edit: I prefer craw trailers on my jigs. Match the jig in color best.

Graphite frame reels over $100
Glad you guys brought up mtg. I have several commander decks sitting in my closet As we speak and I haven’t played for awhile....probably time to unload them for fishing stuff!!!

Graphite frame reels over $100
I was wondering this myself because my local Walmart has the Mach 1 combo from lews for $97.00 and after playing with one for a few mins it seems like a great deal. I’ve been told to stay away from the graphite framed and stick to aluminum so I am curious as to whether or not it is a good deal.

Favorite lure for your favorite techniques
I am working with a few spinners and jigs myself trying to break into techniques. At first my wife was telling me “why pay more for the same thing when you can get them cheaper?” I told her there was a reason these were in the clearance bin. As soon as I tied on the first green lipless crank I ate those words...

Favorite lure for your favorite techniques
1) Top water- I am addicted to any top water blow up. The strike pro swing pop takes the cake for my favorite on this one because the action is like no other. I have recently started getting some good action on the whopper ploppers and yozuri 3DB poppers as well. 2) T-Rig: Craws and five inch senko style worms. There’s just something about bottom fishing plastics and the articulation in the action. Googan baits has been pretty sweet lately with their Krackin Kraws and lunkerlogs working well. I suggest looking into the brand if you haven’t yet. 3) Crankbaits- oddly enough, the clearance bin at my local BPS has a lot of good cranks For pretty much a couple dollars each. Lipless, shallow, and deep diving cranks In these bins catch more fish than any of my rapala cranks in the category.

breaking in a new reel
I noticed this as well on my new lews tournament SLP I bought a couple weeks ago. It too seemed to disappear about an hour after use. I spooled some Seaguar Red Label 15# and with only adjusting the tension and brake dial I was able to tune it properly the way I liked.

You know what grinds my gears...
I am not legitimately upset about it. I wanted a curado k but they were sold out and the lews was the runner up in mind before I even got there lol just felt like one of those “just my luck” type of things.

You know what grinds my gears...
I am currently working a three week summer shutdown at my job with no off days until the first week of July(Maint. Tech) so that ship may sail if the opportunity is there.

You know what grinds my gears...
Buying an amazing Lews Tournament SLP reel at bass pro for $169.99 and falling in love with it and I discover today, not two weeks later after I bought it....that the price was dropped to....$129.99 lol One of my two Revo SX’s crapped out two weeks ago just a couple weeks after buying it so bass pro let me swap it for the lews with me paying the 20 some odd dollars in difference. I needed the reel that day as I had two more full days of fishing planned so it really wasn’t a matter of impatience. oh well win some and lose some lol

New Daiwa Fuego
I like the look too of the hyper speed myself.

Bank fishing - short range bait caster set up
Ahhhh so that’s why my lews tournament SPL doesn’t seem like it holds a lot of line then versus my Revo SX. 15# FC on each and the Revo seems like it holds a mile more than the lews.

Equipment Overhaul
This place is great and the folks here have been awesome and I am very grateful for them! My first shaky head bass this season got me hooked. Then the second one on a 5 inch senko worm and the rest is history. Prior to this season, I didn’t know anything about bass fishing except that curly tail worms looked cool. That’s it. Now I’m progressing as you stated and I can’t get enough!

Bank fishing - short range bait caster set up
Not trying to hijack the thread, but what is a shallow reel? Newer bass fisher here on a quest for knowledge.

Equipment Overhaul
I am literally in the same phases of experimentation as you right now friend. You seem to be light years ahead in knowing what your doing as far as gear than I do lol. All I know is that I love T-Rigs and top water techniques so I am building around those two at the moment. Great looking setups you have too!

Bass Pro Qualifier reels any good?
Bass Pro takes used reels on trade??
-
Gonna give braid a try
Power pro and Sufix 832 in the 40# test get my vote. However, I changed over to all FC after a couple months of fishing braid due to my preference in setups being better suited for FC.

Good deal at bps
I bought one of those combos here at my local BPS in Prattvile, AL. The Revo SX it is paired with is excellent. I bought mine in the 8.0:1 ratio. I did have a mishap recently with a Revo SX, but it was a clearance reel and not the one paired in the combo. I personally think the rod is...ok at best. It was basically free with that combo which is why I jumped on it and honestly for a free rod it’ll work. It’s not as sensitive as I was led to believe it would be with shaky head rigs which was my initial reason for buying it.

Bass Pro Qualifier reels any good?
I’ve seen these reels all over my fishing locale and they seem to be very respected. A good buddy of mine has about five setups that he swaps around to on the boat when we go bass fishing and he swears by them and all of them are nearing ten years old at least. I am particularly interested in this one: https://www.basspro.com/shop/en/bass-pro-shops-johnny-morris-platinum-signature-baitcast-reel If I don’t go with that one, then it will be a curado K for my next setup.

What is your cut off point/price on rods and reels?
I’m really liking the replies I’m getting guys I greatly appreciate you all for taking the time for your input.
