Left alone or harassed
Wow, some out there stories for sure. Well now you have me curious about that lol

Favorite lure type
What is your most favorite lure type that you just find yourself reaching for all the time? For me, it has to be the various inline spinners. This may sound typical to some lol, but I just really love the things. They come in every color, weight, and variation imaginable, not to mention you can make your own fairly easily. They are very simple to use, I must have at least 50. The things just catch the fish, period. Bottom line. In murky or clear water, sunny or twilight. So what is your go to?

Left alone or harassed
I know what you mean. I don't mind people saying a quick hello or "any luck?", but if they make comments like "don't kill the fish" (I catch and release) or "I don't think you should fish over here" it ticks me off. I don't get mad, but my feeling is it takes a special personality to feel like they need to approach someone to make comments like that. Especially if fishing is permitted there, and you clearly are not bothering anyone. But hey, we can't all be respectful and upstanding people ?

caught 4 today, lost 2 or 3
Oh yes, they just feel like dead weight sometimes like a turtle got it or something lol. Just the way they move on the line you can sense it's not a bass. I do catch snakeheads occasionally, but they don't always go for the lures as I mentioned.

Left alone or harassed
Lol I believe it. Humor me and give me an example or two, if you wouldn't mind sir ?

Left alone or harassed
That's a safe bet, I am the same way. Even if the other person is rude, I stay calm so hopefully afterward they look back and identify they were out of line by being nasty. If I were trespassing or at a body of water there were no fishing signs posted, that would be a different story.

Left alone or harassed
Holy crap, do I even want to know? Lol some drunken or drugged up crazy person?

Left alone or harassed
When you scope out new sites to fish, like lakes and ponds, canals etc. how often do you get approached by disgruntled people? Maybe it's even at your own community lakes. How about approached by strangers trying to make small talk? I have already been harassed by two people in my own community lake in less than 3 weeks lol. I look forward to hearing your encounters ✌️

swimbait steering
I noticed when I tie on a weighted swimbait and reel it in, it likes to swim on an angle with its head dipped down or up slightly instead of swimming straight and looking realistic. Am I reeling too fast or too slow? Is it the type of knot or line I'm using? Do I need to adjust something? It is one of those storm wildeye brand swimbaits in 1/4oz. The reel being used is 6.3.1 gear ratio. It seems like the more expensive swimbaits I have swim straight on their own.

Common or not
I agree, not a degrading comment at all. Well said

it is what it is I guess

caught 4 today, lost 2 or 3
At my local community center lake, I caught 4 decent sized largemouth. I lost 2 for sure, but the third has me puzzled. It just did not feel like a bass had it. There are snakeheads where I live and suspect that is the other fish I lost. The snakeheads don't always go after a lure the way you would think, being a predator after all. I have literally cranked a lure right past their face and they don't go for it. I did not catch any bass in the deep water, but along the more shallow banks of the lake where they wait to ambush in the tall grass. I was fishing with my new Scorpion BFS reel on a "Clarus" medium fast action rod, braided line today. The drag clicker feature was a nice touch to add on the reel. I left the lake after a couple hours with a sunburn but it was worth it ? Happy fishing and enjoy!

I would say that is a safe bet

New reel
Thank you for explaining your reasoning. I only assumed you had several parts of reels available because you said only 20 minutes later you had a proper handle and spool on the reel lol, so I know you did not order those parts online and get them on the same day. I have been loving the Bantam MGL too, I bought it last month. It is by no means the top of the line, but it is above average for sure, very impressive reel and solid

Common or not
lol fishing tech doesn't have anything to do with it, I was just thinking of how tech improved over the decades so I just mentioned it, my bad That is a very interesting observation. I myself in my young life so far only know 2 or 3 girls who like to fish, but whether they use a boat or go by themselves I have no idea. If you had to guess, why do you think the women you have seen don't fish alone? Do you think it is a safety issue thing, or a "just how it is" kind of thing??

New reel
That is a good buy indeed for a reel that is new, but still incomplete. What would suck is if you did not already happen to have a proper fitting handle or spool available already, and each of those can be around $100 or more each, new that is. Unfortunately for me I don't happen to have a collection of reel parts to swap around or add parts. If it were the case, I would probably look online for "new" reels that are missing a part here or there, but it's not practical for me especially not being a pro or die hard fisherman so to speak. If they say or advertise new, it better be new and with ALL of the parts lol, or I won't purchase it. That is just my feeling of the matter

Watery grave
wow, sorry you had to go through that... How did the reel look after several years resurrection? lol?
-
New reel
You are right about that for sure, but much like a smartphone or computer, I don't like to buy reels used. Not to say it would have a problem, but just my preference. If I had to guess a lot of people probably think the same way in that regard.

Common or not
We have come a long way in terms of fishing and fishing tech since the 50s 60s 70s etc. My question is, during those time periods was it common or considered acceptable for women to fish? This is in no way a political question or meant to be offensive. Just a curious question from a younger fisherman. How many women do you know that like to fish? I am interested to hear ?
-
Watery grave
That would make more sense but I'm talking about people that were actually messing around with the rod and reel on the boat and actually fell in and they couldn't get it back
-
New reel
Don't worry I know, I just wanted to comment about the steez. No need to explain yourself ?✌️

Watery grave
This is for those unfortunate souls that have lost a reel/rod in the water , and not recovered it ?. Years ago, I once got very impatient with a bad birds nest and threw my rod/reel in the water lol. Who here has actually lost a reel and/or rod in the water and could not get it back? I am sorry for your loss.

New reel
I have heard a lot of hype about this famous "steez" reel and how liked it is...until I saw the price lol. I will pay 250 - 350 dollars for a reel no problem, but I can't justify that price for a reel unless I was some kind of pro/die hard fisherman. I only fish 2-3 months out of the year if I had to guess. I am not knocking the steez, I'm sure it's well worth it.
