  3. Very well said Mr. Goose...
  4. The 16 has certainly raised the bar, but then again it was time for Shimano to revamp their Flagship DC reel. I for one do not have a problem with the Calais DC 7/ Antares DC with all the " it's to heavy or to big" however I have to tell you the 16 simply outperforms it. That said you would not be disappointed with a Calais DC7/Antares DC if distance is what you are after . I still employ a DC7 on a Frog rod and a Top Water rod with no problems getting distance it is just that the 16 goes farther and is more fun to use because of that. The 16's price was just under 560. when they first came out but as you know they have gone up which can be a factor however which one you choose I for one do not think you would be disappointed.....
  5. Megabass Pop Max and Grand Siglett.....Deps Buzzjet Jr.
  6. Dan what do you plan on doing with a DC reel.....I have been using DC reels since they first came out in the Round, really not much difference in maintaining them. I will say this the 16 Antares DC does raise the bar when talking DC reels......
  7. DC reels can do that to you....That is exactly how I feel about CQ 50 DC's over the CQ 50's...

  15. Jeff, Thanks for jumping in and posting the 06....
  16. The Kyasukon to the inside of the side cover In the DC brake optimal brake curve has been built, you would hardly feel the need to use the Kyasukon in the usual scene. By the reverse tightening the mechanical brake knob, it may even risk that the optimum brake would change to excessive brake. From the desire to want to use in an optimum state to anglers in 16ANTARES DC, it was to move the mechanical brake knob to the internal side plate.
  17. The flat knurled screw under the DC is your new "spool tension adjustment". They have eliminated the conventional spool tension knob and replaced it with this . It was a little stiff at first but after I used a screwdriver it loosened and can be adjusted with your fingers.
  18. I will be sharing pictures along the way......
  19. Unfortunately my 06 design DC's are at the lake so I could not do some side by side's of them. There is now doubt the 16 is lighter and smaller , now to check what's inside and then to compare the performance on the water.
  20. Took a few shots to compare the 12 to the 16 DC , no question the 16DC is lighter and smaller than the 06 DC....
  21. Looking forward to using it but plan on cracking it open to see what is inside it first.........
  22. Loomis SBR 752C (6'3") with a Antares AR spooled with 14lb. Trilene XT
