Getting the itch. What combo am I missing?
Hmmm maybe a M/f or M/xf casting setup? Preferably paired with a lighter reel like the Curado 70 mgl or something. I have this and I love throwing small bottom contact baits and top waters on it... jerkbaits too!!

My 10 lb Big Game and knot must be good!
Got snagged multiple times yesterday while fishing a Ned rig with straight 10lb Suffix 832 braid... that stuff is strong enough to “anchor” my boat!

Top 3 Baits Throwing Right Now
Just about to be spawn here. I haven’t got my boat out of storage yet, but I’ve been having a blast bank fishing. Most successful so far with: - wacky rig senko (cinnamon and green pumpkin red flake colors) - finesse jig (natural colors) - Ned rig (especially when fishing the rivers)

Line Suggestions for Shimano Stradic ci4 1000
Hey y’all, What brand, material, and lb-test would you recommend I spool up my size 1000 Stradic with? I have it paired with a 6’6” ml/f for all round creek/finesse rod to target various “smaller” species (trout, river smallies, panfish, etc.) thanks!

Daiwa Tatula Elite OR Shimano Curado 70 MGL K
Thanks for the replies yall! I went with the Tatula Elite, after some research it sounds like it might be a better fit for what I’m looking for!

I need a good small mouth bass fishing set
St. Croix Mojo Bass, probably in a 7’ (or whatever length you prefer) Med/fast.

Daiwa Tatula Elite OR Shimano Curado 70 MGL K
Hey y’all, I’m currently looking to buy a reel to pair with my new St. Croix Legend X (7’ Med/fast). Planning to use this setup for jerkbaits and possibly smaller profile jigs, t-rigs, etc. Since the rod is so incredibly light, I’d like to keep whatever reel I choose for it light as well (I LOVE lightweight setups). So... I’m stumped between whether I should pair it with the Daiwa Tatula Elite or the Shimano Curado 70 k. I’ve always been a shimano gal, so I’m slightly skeptical about trying out Daiwa. What are your opinions on these two reels? Is one better than the other at anything? Other reel suggestions that you think would be a good fit for what I’m looking for are welcome!! (Budget is around $300, but willing to go slightly over) thanks!!!

Backing
I was just about to make a thread asking about backing as well... looking forward to hearing everyone's input!

What Leader material do you all use? (braid to leader)
Hey guys, Just curious... what is your go-to leader (material, lb-test, etc.) that you use when fishing a braid-to-leader setup? I use mostly straight 30lb-40lb test braid on my casting setups (jigs, t-rigs, frogs, cranks, jerk baits, basically EVERYTHING) and straight 10lb braid on my spinning (finesse) setups. After having multiple unfortunate break-offs and problems with my line fraying pretty close to the bait, I've decided to give some sort of leader (mono or fluorocarbon) a shot; so... what do you all prefer/recommend?

What reel should I get/best baitcaster for lightweight baits?
Thanks for all the replies guys! Im leaning towards the Diawa Elite at the moment, but more suggestions are still very welcome! - Was great when I first got it, but after a summer of use the retrieve started to get a little grindy (even with the typical cleanings and oiling/greasing). Also I don't think It handle lighter lures better than most of my other shimano's (Chronarch, 200k, Curado DC, etc.).

What reel should I get/best baitcaster for lightweight baits?
I recently purchased a 7’ m/f St. Croix Legend Extreme on sale at my local shop. Looking to through mostly jerkbaits on it, and probably some smaller (almost finesse) t-rigs, jigs, soft plastics etc. Any good suggestions for what reel I should pair with it? I want to be able to throw those lightweight baits pretty far. Also wanna keep the price range $300 and under. I’m thinking of the new Shimano Curado 70k MGL, but I have the old 70k and don’t like it too much so I’m a little skeptical. suggestions are appreciated!

Show your ride...
This is my boat, a 2019 Lowe Skorpion 17! It is currently stock with a 60 hp Merc 4-stroke, but I've saved up some money and plan on buying a Minn Kota Terrova 55 (with I-pilot/spot lock) and a Humminbird Helix 8 or 9 for the bow if they every go on sale this winter. I seriously never thought I'd end up with such an awesome boat, it is a serious upgrade from the 13ft Boston Whaler I've been using for years!

Anybody Got Purchase Plans Over Winter?
Not a rod/reel, but I'm planning on getting a Minn Kota Terrova (with I-pilot/spot lock) for my boat. Also a Humminbird Helix 8 or 9 for the bow... I'm psyched!

Does Sunlight/heat damage Rods?
I recently purchased my own boat, and like most, I leave my rods laying on the deck so I can easily grab them when needed. It is HOT and SUNNY where I am, and I noticed how hot my rods get while laying on the deck, even with rod sleeves on. Do you think long exposure to direct sunlight weakens/damages rods over time?

New rod advice bass
I would recommend a 7’ Med-Heavy Fast action rod. This rod really is a do-it-all rod, and it’s probably the most versatile rod for bass fishing out there. I like St. Croix rods cause of their good quality and AWESOME warranty, but there are lots of good rods out there as well. For St. Croix (depending on your price range) I’d go with a Mojo Bass 7’ MH/F. I love Mojo’s, but if you want to take it to the next level you can consider the Avid X in that same model. Keep in mind that St. Croix tend to be heavier than what they are rated, so a MH will feel more in between a MH and H than most companies. No matter what company you go with, a MH/F will cover a variety of techniques, and are especially good for bottom contact techniques (jigs, t-rigs, Carolina rigs, etc.), and can also be used for small single-hook Swimbaits, and smaller/medium frogs. If you are dedicated to getting a rod specifically for frogging, a 7’+ Heavy power fast action rod will get the job done, but it is certainly less versatile than a MH. Also, if your looking for versatility, I would pair either of the rods with a reel with a 7.0 - 7.8 gear ratio (assuming it’s a casting rod)

Struggling to catch fish
For the past couple of weeks I’ve been struggling to catch bass, even dinks. I’m located in Connecticut, and fish mostly lake Lillinonah and Candlewood. Both lakes are DEEP, rocky, and overall difficult to fish. The surface water temp varies between 81 and 85 in both lakes right now. I feel like I’ve tried every trick I’ve got... from fishing in 1 foot of water to 40ft (and everything in between). I’ve used a plethora of baits and techniques (jigs, t-rigs, Swimbaits, crankbaits, jerks, neds, Wack rigs, finesse rigs, you name it), and I’ve been fishing in various weather conditions and times of day hoping for a bite. ...Ive caught 3 small bass in over 3 weeks... All in all, the struggle is REAL! Is anyone else going through this? Any tips or tricks for being successful in the summer heat? THANK YOU!!

Small Swimbait Rod?
Sorry for the little info I gave before. I probably won’t be using baits above 2 - 2.5 oz. Also my budget is around $150.

Small Swimbait Rod?
I’m looking to buy a casting setup to use for small to medium hardbody and soft bodied swimbaits, and probably some larg-ish jerkbaits. I’ll use it to target pike and big bass up north. Are there any rods you would suggest using for these applications (length, action, power)? thanks!

Tips for new boat owners?
I'm picking up my first boat this weekend, and I couldn't be more excited! It's a 2019 Lowe Skorpion 17 with a 60hp merc on it. I've been waiting for this moment for what seems like my whole life, and to say I'm excited is an understatement! ... That being said, I want to make sure I do everything to the best I can regarding the boat (such as breaking in the motor, and not doing anything too stupid). I was wondering if there are any tips you'd like to share to help out a first time boat owner of a new boat? - Also, even though this boat is the first I have ever owned, I have quite a lot of boating experience with small to semi-large boats. The advice I'm seeking has more to do with the mechanics (and how to deal with breaking in a brand new boat) instead of boating skills. Thanks!

Bait Caster for Finesse
I have a Mojo Bass 6'8" M/xf casting rod paired with a Curado 70 that does pretty well with weightless senkos and other light/finesse applications. I still like to use my 7'1 m/f spinning set up for weightless senkos, but that doesn't mean it can't be done on a bait caster!

braid lbs for wacky rig and light Texas rig
I have been using 10lb braid. It works awesome and cast far. The only thing is that when ever I get a good sized bass, the tension of the bass being on the line causes the braid to dig in on itself (even with a loose drag). Because of this, I think I will be upgrading to a higher pound test for my wacky rigs (maybe 15lb - 20) ^ Also, I use mono for my leader material. I tie it on with a double uni knot, and so far I've had pretty good success with it.

Daiwa Coastal SV TW
What are your thoughts on this reel? Would you recommend it? I found it for a pretty good price, and was thinking of pairing it with a 7'4" mh/f rod (yes, the St. Croix LTB I just made a thread on) for jigs, t-rigs, c-rigs, etc. This would be my first Daiwa reel, so I know little about all their models and performance as of now. Any shared knowledge on the Coastal SV TW, will be appreciated!

St. Croix LTB tip heavy?
Thanks for all the replies! I actually took that rod out on the water with me today, and to be 100% honest, I didn't really notice that much of a difference between it and my other rods. Sure, it's tip heavy, but I'm not really that picky, so I think I'll hold on to it for now. ^ I think this is something I might try out. When I have the means, I may purchase a Shimano Curado 200 k (I heard they are excellent for the price, and they are heavier than the Chronarch), and put my Chronarch on a 6'10 - 7' H/f rod (not sure what one yet).
