Bass falling
This is right after you just ripped a big barbed hook through their mouth.... right?

Do you have to thumb a baitcaster?
Good luck!

Do you have to thumb a baitcaster?
Of course. I'd never throw a reel so choked off that it requires no input from me. Loosen the reel up, learn how to throw it, and you won't have to rock the boat every time you want to cast further than 10'.

Are Bass Pro brand rods and reels any good?
The current Carbonlite 2.0 spinning reels are great reels. They are essentially Daiwa Excelers but with shallow spools and bearing under the spool (so better than an exceler IMO). Plus BP warranty is tough to beat. When you can get them around the $60-65 mark, you're not going to do any better on a spinning reel. I also have a couple of the Carbonlite 2.0 / Revo SX combos that they had for $150 last year. That was a good buy. The trick to the BP stuff is get it when it's on a good sale.

Ark rod reviews needed
I bought two of the Ark Cobb Series series spinning rods during the TW sale. One of which was sent right back to TW because the guides did not line up with the reel seat at all. TW replaced it, and the new one seems to be ok, other than one guide being set a little crooked, a few spots of sloppy epoxy drips on the blank itself. The other rod I thought was ok, until I fished with it. The reel seat started squeaking and popping on the rod blank when I was fighting fish. It is obviously not epoxied correctly. I called Ark, and they do not have that model in stock, so he told me to call back in 3-4 weeks when they are expecting some more to arrive, and he could swap it. I really wanted to like Ark for some reason, but this is my second attempt (first was with an Invoker Pro that had an issue as well), and I guess it will be my last.

Exposed Threads On Spinning Reel Seat...
I don't mind the nut being in the "down" locking position, as long as the threads on the seat are trimmed off reasonably short. In this case, there's 3/4" of threads that have no reason to be there.

Exposed Threads On Spinning Reel Seat...
I’ll check on that. I have no clue why they left this much thread exposed. Cost cutting I guess.

Exposed Threads On Spinning Reel Seat...
I picked up a couple of Ark rods during the TW sale. For the money, I really like the way the rods fish. Their "40T" blanks seem very good. However, the exposed reel seat threads are in a terrible spot for a spinning reel. Right where one of my fingers land. I thought it was no big deal until I fished it for a couple of hours, and the threads started to bother me. Anywho... Is there any decent looking material or way of wrapping these threads? They should have been cut back by design, but nothing I can do about that now.

That's a pretty healthy fish. If he's a full 19", he's at least 3lbs. If not 3.5.

Well. The TW sale got me. ?♂️ Edit to add: Bummer, one of them is going back. The guides don’t line up with the reel seat. ?

Looking for the smallest kayak boat that you can stand up.
I've owned and transported various yaks. I fish with friends that run a Pescador Pilot and a Bonafide SS several times a month. I like Kayaks. I've spent my fair share of time in them. I've also had a couple different plastic fantastics. From a fishability standpoint, throwing in the truck, and chunking in local ponds and small lakes I wouldn't trade the plastic fantastic currently. And I only need ONE ratchet strap, ha. If distance, the opportunity of tournaments, and "cool" factor is important.... Sure Kayaks are great.

If you are young, light, and agile, you MAY enjoy standing in the 10’ Catch. If you’re not, good luck. Also, standing in a yak and dealing with a paddle is.... a learning experience.

It weighs less than most modern fishing kayaks. IMO it’s easier to transport than a kayak. Yes, to get the most enjoyment out of it, you’ll want a motor.

It sounds like this is what you are looking for. It's easy to toss in a pickup, and standing is no issue. Although it really needs a rudder ant trolling motor as well, but that's easy. https://www.basspro.com/shop/en/bass-pro-shops-pond-prowler-8-fishing-boat

Daiwa Tatula SV TW is kinda loud and not as smooth as I was expecting.
Man this is so true. But as long as you're cognizant of it, then no harm no foul. The fact is, that most of us that seek out forums like this, and spend time reading gear threads, are also the type that care about noisy reels. Then you have guys like Wheeler out their demolishing folks with noisy Ducketts, ha. This amount of noise on the cast would drive some of us up the wall. He probably doesn't notice or care.

Amen.

That’s the case with some of them. I have one just like that. And then I have one that’s works fine, but feels like the gears were cut with a dremel tool and a file. ??♂️ Hit or miss.

Some of them are noisy casters. Just how it is. One of my coastals and one of my 100s buzzes on the cast. Flushed, oiled, greased, repeat.... doesn’t matter. At some point I’ll probably try new bearings. I’ve just accepted they aren’t refined reels for now.

Good luck. A lot of the Tats are just noisy and geary. It’s hit or miss. Grease most likely isn’t going to change anything. Among other Tats, I have a Coastal SV TW (basically the same reel you have) that is so noisy and geary I almost don’t like fishing it, and I have a second Coastal that is smooth and quiet. Even though I like daiwa, I’ll probably never buy another Tatula reel.

Did the pandemic create a shortage?
I'm not referring to stimulus checks. I'm referring to federal unemployment assistance. And it is 100% an issue in my area. I manage a manufacturing facility, and it's nearly impossible to find employees. Staffing services around here have 3-4 times the amount of open positions as they have candidates. Catfish and chicken plants in this area are operating at half capacities in some cases due to lack of work force. Nearly blind approval of unemployment applications and added federal assistance has absolutely crippled the work force in many parts of the country.

Did the pandemic create a shortage?
The Gov doling out unemployment to everyone that applies is what has caused a shortage of people at work.

Bladed Jigs
I'd love to see Zman go after a hobbyist fisherman making a similar lure to theirs for his own personal use. That would laughable, and most likely end up costing them a pretty penny.
