  1. Absolutely. As in the timing of "Sweetie, about that second honeymoon in May. You know the bass are spawning, right?"
  2. Ain't that the truth. Even a mm of tag end can snag a lot of algae on the retrieve. I try to cut the tag end off as close as I dare on bottom baits for sure. Been guilty of cutting too close and having to retie lol.
  3. That is a sharp-looking reel!
  4. Welcome back. I was “out of the game” over 25 years lol. Comes back fast!
  5. I have a Shimano Sienna 2500, and Daiwa Revros LT2000 and LT2500. The Sienna is nice for a $ reel but the Revros are IMO truly nice reels for the money. I think I paid $49.00 for each. Smooth, quiet, nice drag and looks good as well. I’ve caught a few 4-5 lb bass on them with zero issues.
  6. hokiehunter373, hopefully you hang around this site and are not "just passin' thru", as you will learn a lot here. And I mean a lot! ? I'm in agreement here, especially as I own two Daiwa Aird-X's and a Procyon, and two Fenwick HMX's. The Procyon is a M/XF and is a great rod for weightless Senkos (WR or TR), weightless Zoom Tricks, etc.
  7. I do not have a Mojo Bass, but I do have a Bass X BXS610MLXF paired with a Daiwa Revros LT2000. I really like it for weightless Zoom Tricks and Senko WR's.
  8. Mea culpa lol. No wood shafts in my arsenal, but I do still use original Magnus Snuffers and Wensel Woodsman heads. All this talk is making me think I should take the old Mitchell 300 and Eagle Claw glass rod out next trip. Just for old time’s sake.
  9. I feel ya. I am the same way with aluminum arrows for bowhunting. I look like a Neanderthal when everyone else is shooting carbons, especially the newer micro diameter shafts. But they serve me well, as they are heavier so I get great penetration and at the ranges I get shots (normally 20 yards or less), slower speed is not an impediment. So it is with glass rods. They serve a niche. But most will never know as they will never try such “old school” equipment.
  10. Well, that beats “Dad, I need a ride to school/work/mall/movies/friend’s house...” every darned day! ?
  11. This day in 1990 I was likely turning wrenches on a 737-200 at BWI. Six months away from turning the Big 3-0. And I thought THAT was old!
  12. Do they smell like cabbage? Man, dat dere is a big ol’ bass!
  13. Man, that’s a tank! Beat the old record handily!
  14. I've seen that many times. I'm not positive, but I think they are biting more at the surface disruption of the water by the line vs actually biting the line itself. Although, it is amazing how many damselflies I had perch on my line last year. Now, if an insect with compound eyes can see it...
  15. I'll agree with that. I have 20 lb Sufix 832 on my finesse spinning reel with 6 lb YZH leader. With a 5" Senko WR, the vast majority of the braid is on the surface, not sinking below it.
  16. I guess steering clear of Megabass would be prudent!
  17. I think I was in the small male zone yesterday. Seven bass and not one over 1.5 to 2 lbs tops. Yet I know there are some good 5, 6 to 7 lb bass in this pond (that’s probably as big as they get, although an 8 lb mama wouldn’t surprise me). All relatively shallow (less than 3’ from shore). I tried deeper but likely not as long or serious as I could. I think ponds and lakes are not that comparable. It doesn’t take me long to get from one end of the pond to the other. Moving is simple lol.
  18. Well...I said in my most recent Fishing Reports post that I wasn’t complaining about catching 7 dinks yesterday. Now I’m REALLY not complaining!!!
  19. My wife is an RN. Still hasn’t gotten hers yet. What sense does that make?
  20. I kid you not. It’s so good I’ll go back for seconds of rice and sauce even if all the shrimp is gone!
  21. Nice catches! I bet he had a blast!
  22. X2 lol. I even remember the little white stick that came with it.
  23. I'll let others address the crankbaits, as I am not a big crankbait angler. But I fish the TR a lot, and I prefer a MH/F rod for that. I like the added power when setting a 3/0 or 4/0 EWG hook.
  24. My wife’s Scampi is delish. Don’t know the specifics other than a lot of butter, garlic and lemon. And we serve it on rice. We like that much better than pasta. The rice really soaks up the sauce.
  25. Looks like a .308 FMJ spitzer BT knot-tying tool!
