I love the grip on my TCJ-70MH (MH/F). Easily the most sensitive rod in my arsenal. I hope to have another Helium soon.

@Justinfish It has rubber spring-loaded inserts that can be adjusted as loose or tight as you want. You can tighten it enough you can’t reel lol. I only use it for baitcasting reels. I don’t think it’s all that needed for spinning rigs.

Umm-m-m…the Baltimore Orioles are two games out of first place in the AL East. After the torrid start by the Rays, who looked to be a solid lock to win a division title in May, Tampa has to be keeping a close watch in the rear view mirror. The Orioles are a good team. And are looking like a true contender.

What are the “always”? Pretty simple. I’ll always have a MH/F baitcasting rig for Texas rigs and/or jigs (90% TR’s). Right now that’s a Kistler Helium TCJ-70MH and a Daiwa Fuego FGCT100XS. Also a M/F spinning rig for wacky rigs or weightless Senko TR’s. That’s a Fenwick Fenwick HMX 66M-FS-2 and a Daiwa Revros LT2500. Last is a rig for treble baits. A Dobyns Fury 705CB and a Daiwa Tatula 100H. Those three rigs are always with me. Followed with an array of soft plastics that always include Senkos, Mann’s Jelly Worms, Fat IKA’s, Neko Machos, Zoom Tricks and Rage Tail Craws. Never leave home without them.

Imagine living during those times. Whether in New York, Massachusetts, Maryland, North Carolina or any of the Original Thirteen Colonies. Your entire life has been as a subject to the British Crown, with sworn allegiance to the King (as in every other European nation). And here you stand, on the cusp of an exercise never attempted. To state unequivocally that you dissolve all allegiance to your sovereign ruler and declare yourselves as independent states forming a new nation. Governed by themselves, with allegiance only to each other. It must have seemed like a glorious madness. No King? No sovereign ruler? No peerage or nobility? A “nation of commoners”? Who would be labeled as traitors to the Crown and hanged for treason? Madness indeed. And while the average farmer, blacksmith, barkeep or shopkeeper may have risked little, other than blood, the Founding Fathers risked everything. Life. Property. Possessions. Reputations. Not to separate from the Crown and create a new enterprise to further enrich their coffers, but to found a nation where freedom and liberty was paramount. “Life, Liberty and the Pursuit of Happiness”. Madness indeed! And while these United States of Americas has not, and never will, be perfect, and have faced numerous trials and tribulations over the past two and a half centuries, the basic tenets that founded this nation still ring true. Much has been done. Much remains to be. Such is life. But the debt of gratitude we owe to such brave men of vision can never truly be repaid. God Bless America! ??

A Daiwa Fuego on a Falcon Lowrider will be a bit over $200 but makes a great rig. Several options including the Mansfield or All ‘Round. But if you have to stay under $200.00, a Daiwa Aird-X is not a bad option. I have two and still fish them.

@dj1975232 I normally use a 3/16” to 1/4” oz. weight on a 3/0 to 5/0 EWG hook, with baits ranging from 5” Senkos, 4” Rage Tail Craws and 8” Mann’s Jelly Worms. That rod is great in those weight ranges.

I have no experience with those rods. But I just purchased a dedicated jig/Texas rig (mostly TR’s) rod a few months ago. A Kistler Helium HE-TCJ-70MH (TCJ stands for Texas rig/Carolina rig/Jig). Sale price was $247.00 (that’s still the listed price). It is easily the most sensitive rod I own and it is fantastic for Texas rigs (which is likely 50% of my presentations). Especially with braid (although I do not fish TR’s with braid).

That’s it! I took extreme pleasure crushing it beyond all recognition!

Don’t recall the rod, but the Quantum spinning reel I had on it was horrible. Geary, crappy drag, constantly snarled line. I didn’t throw it away. I smashed it into pieces and then threw it away to make sure it couldn’t return without my knowledge.

I have fished it with braid and a 12 lb. leader tied on with a Lefty Kreh knot with zero issues. It’s a great rod for Texas rigs and jigs.
