  1. Never tried FC, but am considering it for my dedicated bottom rig (Daiwa Fuego CT and Falcon Lowrider MH/F). Mostly Texas rigs with 3/0 EWG hooks. What’s the consensus on a good knot for that? Having never tried FC but hearing about issues with line breakage due to failed knots, I’d like to see what most use for that application. I normally tie a IC with Big Game or YZH.
  2. He will be sorely missed. On the bright side, he lived a lot longer than Keith Moon and John Bonham.
  3. Whopper Plopper in morning. 5” Senko WR and weightless TR with a Zoom Trick around the dock and under the overhanging limbs of shade trees.
  4. Thank God it wasn’t a worm hook. Imagine a Texas rig on the ol’ you-know-what!! ?
  5. S’ok. Old things still work. Just a slower and more deliberate pace!
  6. I have a Tatula 100H in 6.3:1 on a Dobyns Fury 705CB. It’s a great rig for crankbaits.
  7. Last year I caught a 3 lb bass on a 7” plastic worm I bought in the 70s. So it was a 50 year-old bait, and still fished perfectly fine.
  8. Got on water a bit later than usual. Didn’t get 5’ from shore and started getting peppered with calls from work, then found out dinner plans with friends morphed into lunch. Felt like I was in and out of the water in a blink lol. Caught one decent bass on a Whopper Plopper.
  9. 1/8 oz. tungsten bullet weight. Gamakutsu 3/0 EWG hook. Mann’s Jelly Worm in blackberry.
  10. I do as well. I just wonder if I can truly notice the difference between a $79.99 Procyon and a $119.99 Fury.
  11. I don’t have much to add except, I believe I am much more adept at detecting strikes on soft plastics than I am on jigs…by leaps and bounds. That, or I just don’t get bit fishing jigs!
  12. The Procyon 661MXS spinning rod I have is a nice rod. For the price, the cork grips are very nice. It’s a great wacky and weightless Texas rig rod. I can’t argue that. It is a nice looking rod.
  13. I fish from an inflatable, not a yak. But it’s essentially the same. 95% of my casts are side-arm. And I can skip a Senko pretty good with a spinning rig. With a baitcaster? I might as well put up a “Lay your eggs here!” sign for the birds!
  14. To be brutally honest, I have both LH and RH baitcasters and fish both equally well.
  15. Led Zeppelin- Physical Graffiti The Who- Who’s Next Neil Young- Harvest Van Halen- Van Halen The Beatles- Rubber Soul Crack the Sky- Crack the Sky Heart- Dreamboat Annie Boston- Boston Bob Seger- Night Moves (spell check initially changed Seger to Seguar lol)
  16. I have 12 lb YZH and 10 lb Big Game spooled on my four baitcasters. I think when I respool, it will all be Big Game.
  17. I just used my Aird-X 661MFB last evening for the first time in months. To be frank, it was a pleasure fishing with it.
  18. Had a lot of rain and high water in late spring. Lately the water level has dropped, but maybe only 6” or so.
  19. That’s probably me to a tee. The temp gauge doesn’t even move a mm from my driveway to the pond. It just stinks that until recently, I was killing it there. I regularly caught 2, 3 and 4 lb’ers, a 5 every now and then and my PB between 6 and 7 lbs. Now it’s Dink Central, and even that is maybe 2-3 bass in five or six hours. It’s all C&R so the numbers aren’t being depleted, and I’d say pressure is less this year than last. It’s definitely a puzzle.
  20. Fair question. There’s over 40 ponds I can fish in my area, and while I haven’t fished them all, this one is the best I’ve fished by far. I was doing great all last year up in 2021 up until May, then it really slowed. A bad day of 3 bass is now a good day. Lake Conroe is about 25 minutes away but my inflatable is a little small for a big lake. Lake Raven is over 200 ac and about an hour away. I may have to try there.
  21. Nah. That’s nothing but turtle bait!
  22. Even that has slacked off a lot. And that’s a surprise.
  23. 7’ about it. Even a shakey head gets fouled quick. Weightless TR or a small 1/8 or 3/16 tungsten bullet weight can be fished without getting too much junk. Anything bigger and it’s a disaster. My success this year has dropped like a rock compared to last year and I’m trying to use new presentations. But it’s a chore keeping the baits clear. I fished a swim jig (no bites though) this evening without a problem. Jigs on the bottom is a fool’s errand.
  24. To say I haven’t hooked a thing on a Ned rig would be untrue. I’ve probably hooked about 975 lbs of muck. Is a Ned rig basically incompatible with ponds?
