  1. Right now, it’s working and not fishing. Not much that’s more peevish than that.
  2. Looks like my recipient received his Fishmas gift today.
  3. I use both equally well. Rod action and reeling. Which is funny as I can’t fish a spinning rig with the rod in my left hand and reeling right.
  4. We used to take roll caps and thread them through the powder like an accordion on a sewing needle, then wrap it with Scotch tape. Light one end with a match and when it hits the end of the roll, they all go off at once. Do that today and it’s likely a felony terrorist offense. We also used to take two 3/4” bolts and thread them into a 3/4” nut. If you put individual powder caps cut from the roll (or stick-on caps for a cap pistol) inside and tossed it in the air, if it landed on the bolt head, it’d go bang. Also used to take our Daisy pop guns and stick the barrel in the mud and shoot the clod out lol.
  5. I have and still use both 12 lb YZH and 10 lb Big Game. I see little difference in sensitivity. It’s not like braid for sure. But it has its uses. When I need new line, I’ll likely stick to BG. It’s great line for the $.
  6. lol. Yes, they did. Fagot was a one-man wrecking crew.
  7. Having been born, raised and lived 90% of my life in Maryland, home of the US Naval Academy, and with a father who was a sailor on the USS Tarawa CV-40, I have always hoped that Navy wins every game they play. Except one. Sorry dear departed Dad. Go Army! Hooah!!!
  8. I heard about this after I got up this morning. I told my wife “wow, that sounds like the Tri State Tornado from decades ago!” (1925). It was. This is the Quad State Tornado. Simply horrific and tragic.
  9. Wow. Everything but one item was in stock, and the substitute item is as good (maybe better depending on personal opinion) as what I was looking at. So order is being processed and hopefully arrives with time to spare. So, Merry Fishmas to ….!
  10. I have a Fuego CT100XS and a Tatula 100H. They are both nice reels. But if push comes to shove, I give the nod to the Tatula.
  11. So, that really is your pet peeve, right? ?
  12. I read that when I was in grade school. Maybe right when Tora, Tora, Tora! came out. Yamamoto was spot on when he said “I fear all we have done is to awaken a sleeping giant and fill him with a terrible resolve.”
  13. Just checking to see if the names will be drawn and sent out tomorrow. Gotta have time to shop and ship!
  14. Blame autocorrect lol. I constantly have to change that. I’m a stickler for correct grammar, pronunciation, usage and spelling. 12 years of parochial school does that to you lol.
  15. I have a Daiwa Fuego CT100XS on a Falcon Lowrider All ‘Round Fast (7’ MH/F). It’s a nice (real nice) rod for the price. It’s set up as my soft plastics Texas rig combo, but Ive used it with spinnerbaits and jigs as well.
  16. “Why” is easy. Because the vast majority of average folks (think they) know what centrifugal force is, but most have never heard of centripetal force. It’s really that simple. Like how everyone knows what bacon is, but somehow pork belly became some fantastical nouveau gourmet dish lol.
  17. It’s an easy spool change. But man, it sucked if the line got looped under the spool and got wrapped around the shaft covered in grease. Remember when “skirted spools” was a big selling feature?
  18. Mine does unless the AR switch is on.
  19. Still have mine on its original Eagle Claw glass rod with “hi-tech” Coors ceramic guides lol. Still works, although as stated above, I prefer modern reels.
  20. I love that reel seat and overall split grip. Between that, my Daiwa Procyon and St. Croix Bass-X, I’d take the grip and reel seat on my HMX hands-down. It’s very comfortable and easy to fish with all day.
  21. lol. Young Frankenstein was the ONLY movie my dad ever paid to see twice. He saw it with my uncle and loved it so much he took my brother (14) and me *** to see it. At that age, some of the humor went over my head, as well as references to the original Frankenstein and Bride of Frankenstein. It’s truly Mel Brooks’ tour de force. Hard to believe all that lab equipment was from the original Frankenstein filmed in the 1930’s. Double lol. 13 in parentheses is censored! Sweet Mystery of Life!
  22. Frau Blucher!!!
  23. This post is abby normal!
  24. Most ‘50s B-movie sci-fi flicks The Waterboy Audie Murphy westerns
