Which crankbaits are your A-team when it comes to fishing certain depths .
The only crankbaits I carry are custom DT-6’s and Strike Kings (1.5, 2.5, and 1.5 Deep). If I need to hit another depth it’ll be a swim jig or something else I can control the depth of. I couldn’t tell you the last time I fished in water deeper than 15 feet and it’s rare that I even get that deep...

Minnesota 2020 Fishing Season
Dang I’m averaging about a bass an hour lately and feeling pretty good about myself.... biggest this year is 17.5”

Swimbaits
See this complaint a lot about soft plastics.... if you caught a fish, does it really matter if the bait got tore up? Sounds like I’m in the minority....

How many “main” setups do you have?
I have been going with 4 outfits that cover the types of fishing I do. Have a 5th ready, but haven't been bringing it in the boat: Spinnerbait/Bladed Jig Crankbait Jig (usually a swim jig) T-Rig Jerkbait Swimbait I usually start rigged up with a Crankbait, Swim Jig, T-Rig, and Jerkbait….. It's a day to day thing for me, once I'm out on the water it's the 4 lures I started the day with unless I have real reason to change. I've got a pretty intricate system developed for how I want the other poles set up when I want to switch in a Spinnerbait or swimbait.....

Whats your craziest "catch" that's not a fish?
Fishing a new lake once and I caught someone elses line that was stuck on the bottom. Annoyed, I quickly removed it not thinking and went about my business... A few casts later... I caught it again... this time I pulled the end of the line up and up came a fairly dirty, but relatively nice spinning outfit. Used that thing for close to a decade...still in the garage...

Why are largemouth so much more popular than smallmouth?
Largemouth are everywhere, and you can catch them on pretty much anything. I've gotten on the river more this year, so I've gotten a handful of smallmouth..... nothing big, but it's definitely created an itch to find some good size ones and figure out how to catch them...

Fishing courtesy....
Caught my PB on a local lake fishing about 30 yards from shore casting right up to the bank.... noticed a boat from the local university rolling along the shorelines doing some sort of study. Didn't think much of it, figured they'd go around. Nope- rolled right between me and the shoreline as I'm releasing this hog tearing up weeds and mud. Happened over a decade ago...still mad about it...

Texas Rigged Plastics in wood
Welp- I suppose you’d be the one to listen to on the topic!

Texas Rigged Plastics in wood
Are there any advantages or disadvantages to doing something like that when you're comparing it to a texas rig? Something weird like they spit out a jighead faster because they can feel the weed guard....

Trying to explain what a bite feels like...
Ugh... I need to do more of this. I'm over here trying to feel it drop through trees, over rock, pulling on it, making absolutely sure its a fish before I set the hook. I know I missed 3 this weekend because of it....

Texas Rigged Plastics in wood
What's my best option for rigging plastics and throwing into wooded areas? Bullet Weight (pegged or screwed)? Fixed head (I've been using the VMC Ike Rugby head, not sure if there are other/better options)? Standard jighead with a weed/brush guard?

Casting reel for lighter baits
Thanks- good info. Back to the SLX that was mentioned, were you referring to standard or the 70 model? Bit more than I intended to spend but I like the idea of the smaller reels for this purpose..that or Curado 70.

Casting reel for lighter baits
Thanks- appreciate that info. Just curious, what makes a Fuego a better option than like the CA-80 seeing they retail about the same?

Casting reel for lighter baits
What does a 1/16 ned head with a big trd worm get to? Not particularly, other than I liked the cheaper 80 models from daiwa....
-
Casting reel for lighter baits
I've actually used both the CR and CC80 models. I dont' have a lot of experience but great reels for the price. CA-80 is actually what I've been eyeing when I started this thread.... Good info- I'm looking at a 1/8 oz jighead with a power worm or a lighter jerkbait as a reference point as "lighter" baits.

Spinnerbaits
I've got a stash of Taylor Man's spinnerbaits on the way. Anyone used them?

Flippin and Pitchin- Jig and Trailer or just the plastic...
When it comes to flipping and pitching, or any type of jigging/bottom presentation do you prefer to use a jig and trailer or just some sort of craw/creature bait rigged up by itself? Do you tend to lean one way or the other or will you typically use both in different scenario's (also, what are the different scenarios for you)? Is it strictly a quantity vs quality decision with a jig being a bigger bite bait?

Strike King 1.5 and 2.5
So these are one of my favorite baits, and I need to order a couple colors that I’m running out of. Was looking at Strike Kong’s website and it says both are made without rattles. In my current stock I’ve got a few with rattles and a few without- did they change it at some point or did they stop making the rattling version?

Casting reel for lighter baits
Looking for a smaller casting reel that throws lighter baits well in the $100-150 range. Any suggestions?

Preferred Reel for Spinnerbaits and Bladed Jigs
Anyone using a 7:1 reel for this or is something in a lower gear ratio preferred?

Jig trailers for swimming AND pitching/flipping
Ha, interestingly enough this was the bait that made me start this thread...

Jig trailers for swimming AND pitching/flipping
Looking for some jig trailers that get good action as a swim trailer but also productive as a pitching/flipping trailer. Any suggestions?

Tips for Fishing in Current
I'm not sure how many wingdams I'll encounter most of them are out in the main channel- I'll be staying in the backwaters as much as possible.... lots of laydowns, small coves, and mats... the backwaters where I am are a maze its pretty crazy. So much to explore back there...

Tips for Fishing in Current
So I'm right on the mighty Mississippi, but I usually frequent some smaller lakes near me because I'm not familiar with a lot of the backwater areas and current can be a pain. Wanting to branch out more, any recommendations for fishing in current- even as I get off the main channel here it can be pretty strong in areas. I did a brief scouting trip yesterday and found TONS of great looking areas that I'm embarrassed I haven't looked at more before. I figured I'd throw the trolling motor down and go into the current and cast upriver towards the bank and start my retrieve from there. One thing I'm (pretty) certain of is that I don't want to be dragging the lure against the current? But it seems like it would be hard to get proper action on a lot of things going directly with the current. This is new to me and I want to be successful- any thoughts are appreciated...
