  1. Hey that’s a fair assessment- and why I like this thread! I fish once, maybe twice a week during the year. I get 3-4 hours on the water at a time max always with my son and don’t do tourneys. I know fishing a jig, I might only get one but it’ll probably be a nice one. I’d take one 16-17” over 4 or 5 14-15” fish any day of the week...
  2. Great articles- just hasn’t translated for me. I like a jig because I can swim it high, swim it low, drag it, pitch it, hop it... whatever I want. A T-rig, in theory, should be the same but I’ve thrown them in the same areas when they are biting a jig and when they aren’t and it just hasn’t worked for me. I much prefer a jig and it’s more versatile for me
  3. To each their own- I haven’t had any success swimming a T-Rig?‍♂️
  4. I'd describe it as minimalist. Right now I've got a jig rod that occasionally gets a chatterbait and another rod that has a toad on it when the time is right and a paddle tail swimbait on any other time. Crankbaits and spinnerbaits attract too many pike around here, and a T-Rig isn't versatile enough for my liking. I've tried but can't do the finesse type stuff. I do have a 3rd rod in the garage I'm considering picking up a reel for and transition the swimbait to that with an occasional weighted wacky, but I've got all winter to decide on that.
  5. It means you slow roll the chatterbait?
  6. Are we sure it's coming this year? I saw somewhere on a facebook group that they weren't having the BF sale this year. If they do, I'm sure I can find something, but I've been waiting for the Dirty Swim Jigs to come back in stock for like 6 months.....
  7. Dang now that's good advice...
  8. I realize they are pretty humble guys.... but if @A-Jay and @J Francho don't qualify as experts then I don't think BR has any....
  9. A few times that's been mentioned- nothing ALWAYS works. Are we sure that's true. I feel like, for the most part, Hackney could go on any body of water at any time of year and catch fish on a jig. Similar thoughts for Omori and a squarebill. Might not be the best option, might not catch the biggest or most fish, but they could always catch them...
  10. I've got 3 kids- I don't even set an alarm clock.. Early in itself doesn't cause issues for me, but I'm not a fan of the summer months when I have to hurry to get on the water to fish in some decent weather. I much prefer early or late in the year when I can get out mid-late morning and still catch the good bite...
  11. A lure that only catches fish under 1 pound is not "working" imo...
  12. Precisely the information I was looking for- and that answer makes me feel warm and fuzzy inside....
  13. Lmao… come on man! I'm really interested since we fish similar parts of the country. You get ONE lure.. what is it!?
  14. I really thought that would be a fool proof way to get him to pick one...
  15. Obviously nothing is going to work ALL THE TIME. If it did, we would never take it off. My purpose in starting the thread was thing- you've all got a lot more in-depth experience than I do. You've seen more lakes and probably paid attention to more variables than I can think of. It might not work all the time, but even for you there's something in your box that you have the MOST confidence in regardless of any other variables. Look at it this way- you're getting put into a time machine and you know you'll be popping out next to one of your honey holes. You don't know what the conditions will be like or what time of year it will be. What lure are you tying on?
  16. I tried a wacky senko a few times but could never fish it slow enough.... I saw an Ike video recently and he talked about fishing them with a light weight like 1/16 so he can fish them faster. I may give that a shot.
  17. What’s your most versatile lure? And by versatile I mean no matter what season, water temp, conditions, etc what is the lure you can always reach for and be confident that it will produce...?
  18. I hear ya- I started carrying my trout waders in my truck for launching the boat once Sept hit...
  19. I had 43 degree water temp on Saturday and they were ACTIVE
  20. I'ma do that...
  21. Nah man- it's just me Mr. "buy 15 different jig colors, rig em all up with sweet trailers, and use the same 2 colors every time"
  22. I put a trailer on a new jig as soon as it comes out of the package. I have jigs in my box that have had the same trailer on them for a couple years- certainly don't look any worse for the wear. I COULD see doing it before the winter just so everything is fresh for the new season. There is NO WAY I'm pulling my trailer off ever trip though...
  23. Hey thanks- any performance issues this may cause?
