Reel Overboard!!
The reel should be broken down completely, deep cleaned to remove any foreign debris and old lubrication. Then properly re-lubricated and properly re-assembled. Don't take any chances, get it done properly..................... Good Luck & Tight Lines!

Curado B3.8:1
Sure do. As stated it's a great reel for deep cranking. Plus I keep new gear set upgrades to 5.1:1 and 6.2:1 in my parts bins. Great reels the old B series. Good Luck & Tight Lines!

Which Reel Would You Pick
I agree 100% with Tom. I would take the rod that I intended to use with the reel. Then mount each reel on the rod to see what the system would feel like with each reel and make my final choice. Good Luck & Tight Lines!

What Do You Use To Clean Reels?
Our system is from Safety-Kleen. I agree 100% with JF. 27yrs servicing and we hand scrub every part, as it is up-close and personally inspected. Tight Lines All!

Strongest Framed Reel For Pitchin
I agree! Plus it would put the power hand in direct charge of the rod and the hookset.... Tight Lines!

Strongest Framed Reel For Pitchin
When you say "on the hookset I break reels" do you blow out the AR's? Sounds like the use of braided lines and locking down the drags. If so try setting a proper drag setting and rod so the reel will slip slightly. It will save them. Tight Lines!

Reel Mechanics Question (Revo Toro Winch)
#61 & #62 are the shim (brass) and it's (black rubber) backer. They should be located in the upper part of the clicker assembly #63....

Stradic Supertuned???

Stradic Supertuned???
2000fi/4000fi are built nothing like the 1000fi, in our shop the 1000fi is treated as a very light freshwater reel. It isn't built to work salt or heavy freshwater angling. I would recommend a 2500 series reel for any Bass fishing. If you knew the true history of super tuning bait-casting reels you would find it was a process by which the free spooling friction points of the reel were cleaned polished to help with a casting distance problem ALL older (90's) series bait casting reels were having. Super tuning was/has never been intended for spinning gear. Because of the tourqing issues in the reels gearing was used for ease of cranking, and, bearings were the way to free up and smooth out the reels. Good Luck & Tight Lines!

Tip-Heaviness Of Rods
As a custom rod builder here is my take on when, and why you should attempt to add weight (Balance) to the butt (for a neutral balance) of your bass rods. WHEN: Only if it will enhance the performance characteristics (usually sensitivity) of the rod for a particular technique". [br] There are about 20 different techniques we use in bass fishing. Rather than cover each one, here is a summary [br] Tight Line Moving Lures Blades, Cranks, Buzz baits, etc. The rod is always loaded when using these lures. There isn't any amount of weight you can add to the butt that will neutral balance the weight and pull of the lure with these techniques (I would add weight ONLY for a requested balance point other than neutral). [br] Flippin Sticks These long bass rods (7&1/2 & 8 ft) are always tip heavy and could use some weight to make them feel better. I would NEVER add weight to a Flippin Stick, they are already heavy enough (unless again requested by a customer). [br] Jump Lures Jigs, Worms, Spoons, etc. These are slack line techniques and tip heavy rods can be made more sensitive by adding weight to the butt. [br] NOTE: If your using high end/high modules rods (GLX, SHX, RX8, SCV, etc.) for these techniques, there is little advantage to adding weight to a light-weight high-performance rod to enhance it's sensitivity.

Anti Reverse Fails In Cold-Wet Weather
Mike is right on! To much oil and or grease is bad for the AR bearing packs it will cause them to fail even in warm weather. Daiwa' service dept is not all that good any more, I have caught them on more than one ocasion adding grease to the AR bearing packs when return from their service. We don't use grease in the AR's any longer. A light oil swab is what is proper now, and the AR should hold in all temp ranges. Send it of to Mike he's got your back. Good Luck & Tight Lines!

Braid Slips
Hook set shock absorbance is important when using braided lines. The proper rod tip action and reel drag settings are important, to compensate for the lack of the lines shock absorbance (stretch). As far as fish fighting, if the rod and reel are setup properly for use with braided lines then there is little reason for spool shafts to bend or rods to break.. Just an opinion from my 27yrs service experience..... Good Luck & Tight Lines!!
-
Braid Slips
That's because you know how to setup a rig for use with braided lines!
-
Braid Slips
Wrong! Only if the spool doesn't have a bearing pack behind the engagement pin, and, the drags are pinned down solid and trying to lift a tree branch, is there a chance of bending the spool shaft using braided line anchored through the holes in a drilled spool. Good Luck & Tight Lines!

Best Way To Store Rods?
I agree 100%.. I use large cup hooks that I have dipped into a Tool Dip (Plasti Dip) to protect the rod tip. Once I get them dipped then I screw them into the ceiling of the garage/shop or the 2x4's in the basement. Then just hang the rod without the reel (from the tip). I have over a 100 custom rods hung that way with no effect to the tips. Good Luck & Tight Lines!

Mojo Bass
All good rods in their price point all are made on the SC2 blanks, The Mojo & Triumph rods are made in Mexico The Premier is made in the US.... Tight Lines!

Quantum Energy Pti E10Pti
Not trying to high jack, but check the anti-reverse and the sleeve for over lubrication. My experience is that when the ar in a spinning reel starts to fail it has been from the angler over lubricating the pinion gear/axel where it enters the AR. Quality AR systems are run clean/dry, no grease, or oils. Just a thought.. Good Luck & Tight Lines!!!

Bantam Curado
J that PNLA 2011 list, is the list of reels they no longer service or repair (Reel models we no longer service and/or repair) re-read the site page.

Bantam Curado
Whether or not you goto Mikes (expensive parts and costly international shipping) or the Factory. The CU201BSF was discontinued back in 1997. When the factory stops production of a series they also stop production of all parts not interchangeable with the newer series being released. Good Luck & Tight Lines!!

Serious Bps Reel Problem
IMPO I wouldn't try to evaluate what was done to the reel, or, were it isn't re-assembling properly. I would recommend that you box the reel as a basket case, and either send it to Out Door World Rod & Reel Repair (BPS service shop), or to DVT here on this site. Good Luck & Tight Lines!

Rebuilding/overhauling A Spinning Reel That Binds Up.
Could be a case of nothing more than a shim out of place causing undue pressure of the main drive gear on the small idler gears probably from the removale of any of the side plates. Would having this reel rebuilt/overhauled be able to allieviate the binding? You bet it will! Once the allignment of a spinning reel is thrown off is it just a goner? Not on these reels the frame doesn't flex that much! Or is it a case of lots of parts needing to be replaced to do it properly and to just write it off? Nope we here in our shop work the Stradic & Sahara spinning reels all the time. Good Luck & Tight Lines!
