TAS problem
Moisture under and behind the wrap finish (the guide wraps turn gray), will cause the threads to rot and fall apart over time causing the guides to come lose or fall off entirely. On older rods the only fix is to rewrap every guide and to re-coat with a quality wrap finish. For newer under warranty rods send them in for repair or replacement... Tight Lines!!!!

rod blanks
Sorry but Shikäri® doesn't exist anymore, and there has been nothing being produced by the original company in Kellysville Oklahoma. The Shikäri® website was decommissioned on Jan 1 07 the company was purchased by ATC Advanced Tubular Composites The company bought all of the Shikäri® mandrels and is producing some of the same tapers as the SHXi, SHX, and SHIII but they are not the same as the originals. If Versitex is still carrying any of the blanks (I personally doubt it) it will be the seconds and unpopular blank sizes, much like Mudhole did when they had them. Take a look at the year mentioned in the write ups.. That website section hasn't been updated since 01......I just finished my last Original SHII SJ702 spinning rod....

Problem with new Revo: HELP!
Micro, Well I didn't think I needed any.... :-?Thanks for the reference, but this problem isn't where the angler disassemble the whole reel. Here we have .. Here the angler doesn't say just how far the reel was disassembled. There are a lot of reasons that a reel can act a certain way one time, and, begin to act another way at a different time.Trying to explain on a forum what is going on for a certain issue isn't a good thing to try and do. Knowing the correct nomenclature for each reels parts and understanding the module assembly patterns isn't easy on a forum either, and I don't normally try to teach someone on an open forum, what it took me 25 years to learn... Want to really learn how to service reels then come sit on my left hand and watch.... 8-) He finally got it to the people that should have gotten the reel when he first noticed the problem. Spiral Wrap
Wow don't know what to say... I can tell you that all of my custom spirals use a low profile guide in small size rings #6 and #5.5 for running guides (depending on line size used). But I think the real key is the static flex testing that I do for my spacing. Tight Lines All!!

ACS reel seats
flechero, I remember when they first came out Karen tried to get me to use some. Told her that IMPO they tried to make the anglers hold a rod a certain way that was uncomfortable to me. The only seat I will use is ECS. Tight Wraps.....

Problem with new Revo: HELP!
I don't remember answering a question like this other than with this statement..... Another very good reason why I say.. "If you have never (opened a reel up) then don't start now". I don't know by what you have written here how far you went into the crank assembly. If the reel is that new send it to Garcia for repair, or take it to your local Tackle Shop that you purchased it from for replacement or repair Good Luck & Tight Lines!!!

New Reel Advice
Kudos's on 12 months smoke free.. I have 14 months smoke free and going strong. While the Tierra is a good reel, I am parcel to Shimano® and think the Citica is best for your dollar. But I would also recommend handling each reel on your list to see how they feel in your hand, and then on the rod you intend to use, to see what the system will feel like to you. Just my .02¢ from the bench.. Good Luck & Tight Lines!!!!

Which one
I think you should take the Revo with you and try it on both rods. Then make your choice based on a balanced setup that feels good to you... Just my .02¢ Good Luck & Tight Lines!!!

Spiral Wrap
Sorry to disagree, but none of the rods I have on-line are wrapped to the left. They are all bumper wrapped to the right hand side of the rod. The only ones I wrap to the left are my personal rods and any rod that I build for a client that request a left handed wrap. The wrap to the left or right is personal preference, and is usually inline with the cranking orientation of the reel. Rods wrapped to the right used with a right hand cranking reel, when laid on a deck the reel handel will protect the bumper/revolver guide/s, by keeping them off of the deck. Same with a left hand wrap. Tight Lines!!!

Need Help With Revo S
Yes that's normal for all Revo's, it's called a disengaging levelwind. Setting the brake block toward the spool shaft (center) is turning each individual block off, setting each individual block to the outside of the spool is turning them on.Just my .02¢ from the bench. Tight Lines!

Why does my Tour edition make noise?
If the noise isn't the casting noise the TT review talked about (a low tone hum like sound) and is a very high pitched squeal, then it is probably the Quantum® proprietary Poly Stainless Ball Bearings (PT bearings). They are a poly coated and need lubrication more often than stock Stainless, plus the ceramic shims behind each spool support bearing could be dry and need a drop of oil.. Just my .02¢ from the bench.. Tight Lines!!!

2009 Quantum Tour Edition PT preview...
If somebody with the techical knowledge ( somebody like RM ) did me the favor of telling me that Quantum has achieved the durability and dependability Shimano and Daiwa reels have then I would consider purchasing a Quantum reel, that very first Quantum I purchased many moons ago left a pretty bad taste in my mouth. Sorry Raul, Can't do that... I had a couple of Quantum AC's from early 2K, they were all right. But the minuet I get a chance to get my hands on any of the older LH Green Cu's I grab them. Got rid of the AC's, the only Quantum' I have now are the slower gear ratio 5.4:1 Competition (QG's) and an old 5.1:1 EX501 that I throw my spinnerbaits on. Just found a bunch of LH Green Curado 201B's (our flea market) that I can change gear ratios on to fit my needs. I don't see a lot of Quantum' in my shop anymore, they don't seem to be that popular here in my area. Just my .02¢ from the bench.... Tight Lines All!
