  1. I have seen the XLT Plus for 40.00 on ebay. The splitting levelwind was one of Garcia' biggest problem reels... The only problem is there are no parts or support for the splitting levelwind anylonger... Also the reel/s were never intended to be used with no stretch lines. Good Luck & Tight Lines!
  2. Frames for most all Daiwa BC reels were heavy spuncast graphite 10oz. in the 90's, PR's , PS's, TD's, Megaforces, etc.
  3. Definetly pre-set my drags. If I need more I feather the spool... Tight Lines!
  4. What are your thoughts concerning Quantum Spinning reels? One word " "!
  5. Serviced a butt load of these reels in the 90's.... PR2BHi: Came out just prior to the TD1 & 2Hi (circa 94) same frame shape. Heavy corbon fiber drag pad, 6 pin instant AR, 2 BB, flip switch, 9.0oz weight. I have seen it for sale on the Bay for 20.00 - 50.00 Tight Lines!
  6. X2... Not only spooks but chugbugs, zulu's, popr's, just about every surface jerk bait made...
  7. Have seen the inside of every Revo in Garcia's US line. It's Personal Pref.... Tight Lines!
  8. Thats the problem with Quantum, most of the work force there was only in their teens a decade ago... I remember seeing something about that rod when I purchased my Big Cat rods from them, back in 03. QGC60MH = Quantum Graphite Casting 6'0" Med.Hvy. Most Quantum casting rods in MedHvy handle 8-17lb test, lure weight 1/4 - 5/8oz. with some handling 10-25lb test, lure weight 3/8 - 1 oz., and, have fast tip actions (Quantum calls it tapers), but all of this should be listed on the rods stickers, except for dates.... Tight Lines!
  9. Yup reel mfgs use grease to hold lose and small parts in place during the mfg process. It is also used to control moisture on LOOONG boat rides to the US.. Don't want to step on Mike's (DVT) toes here.. So I will just recommend you contact Mike (DVT), and get it serviced properly.. He is a forum sponsor and gives a service discount for forum memebers....... Tight Lines!
  10. Yup... First off you don't put fresh lube over OLD... Wiping what you call excess lube just moves the OLD contaminated lubrication around.. When you added drops of whatever you used, it just re-lubricated the OLD. Making it easier for grit to be moved from one part to another... Also before you opened the reel, you laid the schematic out in front of you so you knew you didn't miss any shims/washers in the crank stack, I hope.. Whenever you brake into the reel brake it down completely, and hand scrub the parts to get the OLD lubrication off. In other words you need to deep clean that reel and have it done properly.. Good Luck & Tight Lines!
  11. I also use both.... Each is dedicated to a technique, or strain....... Tight Lines!
  12. To bad, they are anything BUT cheap. .. Tall guides, I don't see tall guides I see PacBay ultra light spinning guides wrapped in the Fuji Concept layout. Believe me those guides are the best for casting light lures. IMPO the only way to get a better dedicated Panfish rod/s would be to go Custom......... Tight Lines!
  13. Another Option........ St Croix Panfish Series... PFS70LXF.... have built my PF rods on this blank, great panfish blanks....
  14. As a custom rod builder I'll bet this one step wasn't taken... In order for our service center to properly Register your rod please return your Warranty card promptly to: Duckett Fishing Warranty Service Center P.O. Box 177 Demopolis, AL 36732 Without that card I bet there is NO 20yr warranty........
  15. Like to keep the balance on my spinning rigs slightly tip heavy for more accurate casting. On my ultra lites I keep balance at neutral... Tight Lines All!
  16. 15 yrs building rods........... Got tired of making wraps using large amounts of threads, and adding weight to the rods in odd places. Got into marbling never had the same look twice, no noticable weight added to the rod. Made each rod very individual... Tight Wraps!
  17. Not like you saw on the Citica tolerances have gotten tighter since the 70's. Good Luck & Tight Lines!
  18. I have experiance in the Luna' both reels have their basic differances. The Luna is mag brakes, the Calcutta is centrifical brakes. IMPO if it was in my budget I would run with the Calcutta 300.......... If not then the Cardiff is a really fine reel.......... Tight Lines!
  19. CWD662MS = Cherrywood 6'6" 2 pc. Med Power. Most rack rods don't offer a tip action stated in store write ups, but are normally fast action tips. Slower action tips will always be posted in advertising. No tip action stated assumed to be a Fast Tip. To find out place rod tip on floor press down on tip with pressure from butt. As rod tip bends, if in the upper third of rod then tip action is fast to extra fast...
  20. Just an after thought... If the reel is an older original SX, long one peice spool shaft, without the spool support bearing behind the engagement pin. Probably friction from spool shaft & pinion rub. Fix: polish spool shaft friction points Newer SX' with 2 peice spool shaft, could be friction on pinion shaft end rubbing on spool shaft end. Fix: 1 drop light oil on pinion shaft end. Could be support bearing behind engagement pin. Fix: remove clean and properly lub bearing pack (1 drop light oil) re-install... Tight Lines!

  23. X2 You need to inspect that hub with some really good vision help (Magnafication) to see the crack. The early Revo S' had that very issue the hub is plastic and heat will affect it. Good Luck & Tight Lines!
  24. bigbill, yes I do by from the factory. But only factories that support independant service (ie Garcia, Daiwa, Shimano, etc.)... Shakespeare is propriatery and only supports their satelight servce centers, direct contact is usually futile... I would recommend you contact Outdoor World Rod & Reel Repair (BPS), they are a warrenty center for Shakespeare and probably have the part/s you need in stock... Nothing to lose by contacting them... Good Luck & Tight Lines!
