Oil Prices Plunge!
I believe a lot of refineries are located in the Gulf because that's where the oil is. No sense moving crude a long distance which only adds cost to the oil. But again, more refining capacity would be helpful but its not going to happen. Look at it from the refiners standpoint. If you are selling all you can refine, why invest billions of dollars to build new refineries (even if environmentally you could) that would only reduce the output of your current refinery. They're not going to run 2 at 75% when they can run 1 at 100%, thus keeping supply limited and demand high and profits maxed. Economies of scale.

Oil Prices Plunge!
Oil is down over $6.00 this morning to $94. and change. Of course, that doesn't have anything to do with the price of gas right now.

The insanity begins: What are your local Gas Prices?
Last night some stations were still at 3.599, where it was. But one station jumped 10 cents. I filled up the jeep and got 3 cans with my grocery store discount. I expect more increases today. PA still is in the mid $3.00 range according to this. http://www.californiagasprices.com/price_by_county.aspx Once again, this situation demonstrates the need for more refining capacity.....but it's not going to happen.

Gander Mountain rods
I don't know either but my Gander Mtn. stocks at least 3 times as many St. Croix as they do any other brand. Maybe there's a reason.

Do you listen to music when you fish?
I don't but my son does and honestly, I question whether he is able to concentrate enough on the fishing. I don't think I could. I like to get really absorbed into the fishing experience.

Oil Prices Plunge!
We haven't seen the bottom yet and all this even with OPEC deciding to cut production.

Worlds largest science experiment
You beat me to it. How ironic that the 4 year timetable coincides with the end of the Mayan calender in 2012. Just food for thought.

Safe pike handling?
I have a jaw spreader which opens in the fishes mouth and keeps him from closing its mouth. Never had to use it though. Won't keep him from thrashing but at least he can't clamp down on you.

Throwing buzzbaits
It wasn't a case of setting the hook too soon. They never took the bait. They just broke the surface like they were trying to scare it. But my question is, how long do you guys continue to throw in the same area after a miss, even with follow up baits?

Swim Senko Guidance
In looking at those pictures on the GYCB link, I'm wondering how the line is fed through the bait since the eye of the hook is well down the from the top. Is he threading the hook through the worm that far down? I've always kept the eye of the hook exposed. Maybe I'm doing it wrong.

Throwing buzzbaits
I was at our river the other morning and decided to throw some topwater baits, buzzbaits and RageTail shad to be specific. Our river is pretty gnarly with alot of laydowns in places. I had 4 explosive strikes on these baits but no hookups. I even tried switching to something else after the miss but no hits. My question is how long after a strike and a miss to you guys keep throwing buzzbaits. Do you continue to try to annoy them into striking or do you move on? By the same token, how long do you throw in one area with no strikes before you move on? And do you throw in the same spot once or many times before you change your direction. In other words, do you throw just once say, straight ahead, and then on the next cast throw to your right and on the third cast throw to your left or do you do multiple casts to the same location?

Do like the fire tiger color?
X2!!!!! X3 works well for me. I've probably caught more fish on the Joe's Flies firetiger inline than any other.

MOVING DOWN TO SHORTER ROD!
I bought a Gander Mountain 6' MH spinning rod for the express purpose of walking the river bank where trees, bushes and narrow pathways are common. I'm usually throwing in between laydowns where no great distances are involved. It has greatly reduced my hangups in trees and bushes above and behind me. I still carry longer rods for more open areas or different baits and applications.

Switzerland bans C&R
I get it! ;D ;D Seriously, there are certain people out there who absolutely live to pass laws like this. If it is true it is very misguided. And DON'T think it can't happen here.

I found a mate for Burley.
That's a face not even a mother could love.

Murphy's Fishing Laws
#2 on my last outing. First from the fish throwing the bait at the bank and the tension on the rod releasing and flinging the lure into the tree. (I got it back) Second was a bad cast trying to get under a low tree. Brand new lure >

Jitterbugs
Boy, amen to that. 15 minutes or so of soft plop plop plops and then the water exploding can be somewhat startling.

What bait to use for bluegill
I have caught many bluegill on a 10' crappie rod using a small 1/16 or 1/32 oz. jighead with a small curly tail grub and a Berkely Crappie nibble. As an added bonus, Crappie and Bass go for them as well. Bass on a Crappie rod, now that's fun!
