  1. This^ I also spritz the guides. It makes my FC behave and have way less memory. The KVD conditioner isn't greasy like some. Little shot and you're good for all day ?
  2. If you can tell me a little about launch ramp and road in. Located near Greenville. Thanks Dave
  3. Wire hooks bend a lot easier, I usually use mustad 3/0 EWG BLN hooks, they are impossible for me to bend....the line would break first. I'm just saying where I fish and the size lures I use 5"-8" 1/0 and 2/0 are a little small for my taste. When I hook one 3lbs and up and they head for the wood I want to be able to turn that head and stop them. I agree with you.....
  4. Well rods came and I went fishing, Hooked a nice one right as the lure fell at the pads edge. He raced into the pads and arrowheads and it turned ugly....son thought I was gonna break the rod (so did I but I didn't let on) after some real back and forth I pulled him up to the boat. Rods got backbone for sure, it will be my primary stickbait rod and will see much duty with large and smallmouth.
  5. Pit Bosses work too good for me to try much else.....
  6. I like 2/0 owner hooks but they can bend.
  7. Just got 2 Diawa laguna rods from wallyworld for $30.60 apiece with free shipping. Close out prices are a good thing.
  8. Only use Seaguar tatsu FC line and the 7 wrap clinch knot, in 5 years of heavy fishing I've never had a knot slip or pull out. Line knicks from toothy fish/rocks have cost me some break-off's but the knot always hold's. 9. If you haven't try some 4"or 5" stickbaits, rigged weedless they can prove to be a good addition. You are moving fast now towards those big orders from TW ?
  10. Check the tail fin it will tell the tale. I loved the days fishing story, by MassBass, well done! That central maine part sounds like some of my smallmouth sweetspots. Always unnamed rivers or lakes where the big ones swim. Enjoyed the post ?
  11. My state has outlawed lead jigs and sinkers, price tungsten ☹️ and its pretty much always painted black. I fished lead head jigs for over 30 years, never worried about color till I discovered that an eye was something the fish did notice at times. So always an eye on every jig.... bare lead or painted a color put eyes on them.
  12. I think its a young musky, they have three different patterns and one is vertical bars just like pic. Wish the pic hadn't cut off tail, was it rounded or pointed at corners. Looks nothing like a hybrid or pike pattern. There are many defining features that help you tell a musky from a pike. The most obvious include horizontal spotted pattern (pike) vs. vertical lines (musky), rounded tail fins (pike) vs. pointed tail fins (musky), and 5 or less pores on the lower jaw (pike) vs. 6-9 on musky.
  13. I check the eight big internet sites every week, haven't seen Varget in at least a year. I'll keep waiting till Graf's or powder valley or one of em' get the 8lber's in and I'll be set for quite a while. Most accurate cleanest burning powder in my 308 is RL15....tried quite a few when I built my sons tactical rifle.
  14. Striper hybrids! Use to fish for them above Conowingo dam and in the tailrace below. Those bad boys can Fight ?
  15. When you launch go straight ahead till you get up to the islands, second larger one produced our best fishing. Good Luck and let us know how you do. Dave
  16. FR 703SF would be my choice for good casting distance and backbone. Sorry I'm downstairs watching for fedx to drop off a rod I bought. Didn't see your question. Dave
  17. TW seems about normal again on their shipping, just got an order and it was shipped quickly. Just waiting now for the next sale to stock up. Way to go TW!
  18. Good launch ramp, decent bass fishing with some good sized fish. Heavy fishing pressure every time I've been there, lotta camps around lake and the parking area for boat trailers fills fast. Enjoy......chance at a 3-5lb bass, stickbaits and spinnerbaits worked well.
  19. Sorry I haven't fished that lake to give any info too far south for me, but other than being so close to Portland and probably fished pretty hard its worth a try. Sebago produces large bass and crappie and its close also.
  20. Fished finesse only now for 5 years, light weight plastic lures and FC line and pin point casting accuracy. I take five rigs each trip and with the extreme weed and structure we fish everything is weedless and not too expensive if you loose it. I prefer spinning gear since the finesse move and have never looked back, I feel I catch a lot more larger lure shy fish and that is what I fish for. Use what you are comfortable with and what works best for your style.
  21. Exactly, I buy sticks in bulk and the biggest % of my fishing is weightless whether Texas or Wacky rigged. The softer the plastic the quicker the destruction.......BBB trick sticks last the best for me. Ocho's and Senko's catch the most with their better movement.
  22. Try looking for Varget powder...............or benchrest primers ☹️
  23. Seeing what your seeing just farther north of ya. Real warm water temps and high water where I fish, yesterday's storm should bring water temps down some and raise levels with all the rain. Right now for me its picking fish off structure with unweighted and 1/8oz. flippin' hooks equipped w/ owner screwloc's and 5-6" stickbaits or Tungsten shakey heads and 4" curlytail's rigged weedless. Its gonna get better Dave
  24. Dobyns Fury is a good bet in your price range if you catch it on sale. Don't know if TW still has sales, but that would be the way to hit your price.
  25. Was wondering if they are fragile and easy to tear with the segments, they seem to have great wiggle and darting when shown on u-tube in the water. I know every stickbait is different but this extra tail movement seems to be the trick if the fish are senko shy from pressure. We been using the snake o' and 8 sided ocho because they both have unique fall rates and movement that triggers bass more than the same old look of senkos and tricksticks. Thought maybe the hyper sticks would be something to try....
