  1. I have not tried an edge rod, however I do have an IMX pro 893 for my smaller jigs and I love it! Anything Loomis makes is bound to be good. With that said I have a 765 flip Dobyns Fury, I really like that rod. I have caught everything from small bass to 25 lb sting wrays in salt water. Not a bad this to say about it. Choose which rod will best suit your needs and type of fishing you do.
  2. 1. Ballin Out jig w/ Z- craw jr. 2. Chatterbait w/fluke 3. That's, That's about it.....
  3. My local lakes are generally stained and have a lot of blue gill and yellow perch, so my go to spinner bait has become a fire tiger colored spinner with single gold Colorado blade. I have not caught a single spinner bait fish on any other color on those two lakes.
  4. Both for me #Expride.... LOL I did a hashtag ?
  5. Nice! I never look on ebay as I always try to buy local, or at TW. I guess guys selling under the table have made it hard on the local tackle shops to stay open in recent years. I may have to make an exception here. Thanks.
  6. I have noticed this as well, I was looking for some 6" lizards in cherryseed and have not been able to find them. I did stumble across some in an 8" magnum version but you could tell they were old stock at a local tackle store. Nowhere to be seen on TW.
  7. I have a Champion 705 that I use for that, but it would probably do better with the shallower running square bills, and smaller size lip-less.
  8. While shopping on ebay for an Expride 610 medium fast (jerk baits and blade baits), I accidentally bought a 610 glass version. (I got excited as the rod I want is hard to find) Does anyone use this rod? If so what technique or lure does it excel at? Never been a fan of glass rods, however I have not had a high end model either. Thoughts on this, should I hold on to it?
  9. I like my Fury 806 for both these baits, handles the 8" Hudd well, and does a great job with larger heavier glide baits. I use it for larger blue gill baits like the Megabass Vitalion 190, and the Jackall gigantral that is no longer available. If your really interested in the Hudd 68 I prefer to use my Fury 795. I find these two rods cover everything I want to do, if I had known I would enjoy swim bait fishing as much as I do I would have stepped up to the same models in the Champion XP line up. I think the Fury will do fine but it would be great to have a little lighter rod for this. Good luck either way.
  10. If you have any blue gill or perch in your waters try the blue gill color in the Megabass dyna blade bait, we have been crushing 4 to 1 compared to shad colors or plain silver and gold. That being said we have a good population of blue gill and tons of yellow perch.
  11. Mega Bass Blade bait for me!
  12. I have never really been the type to hold on to stuff for memory sake, however this started about a month ago for me. Me and my fishing partner (my brother for lack of a better term, we are actually much closer than my real brother and I) were out at a local lake and I decided to try a Mega bass blade bait having bought one and never used it. I proceeded to catch 25 or 30 fish in a couple hours, after several hours he had only caught one (this is our norm on this lake we both usually catch 1-5 fish). I proceeded to hand off the "lucky setup" in which he caught a good dozen before we went in for the day. We caught so many fish they knocked the paint off the blue gill painted blade bait! He has since picked up a combo and every color blade bait Mega bass makes. I have hung this up in the garage as a retired bait with a fond memory. Side note have have since returned and slayed them about three times!
  13. Crushed on these last Saturday! Spot on!
  14. I have a 7'4" Bass X that works great for both of those applications. (my buddy has the Mojo Bass, he is equally happy). I have also picked up a Dobyn's Sierra 703c that I am super excited to get on the water with next weekend, they also have 704 that would be good for what you a looking to do.
  15. When I was that age I was thrilled to have a 7' MH ugly stik, and cheap diawa reel. Caught my fair share of fish on it, and the ugly stik is tough enough if you wanted to you could bottom fish for some smaller catfish too. Cool deal no matter what you get them they will excited.
  16. For the extra $20 bucks I would step up to the SLX line up. I have three of them and like each one. I would also second on the 6'10" length, the SLX 6'10" is great for jerk baits and top water water (I have one). Tight lines and good luck, let us know which way you end up going.
  17. Auto correct for the win!!??
  18. Looks super nice, but I think I will stick with the TranX. I am close to saltwater and like to go out and toss some swim baits for stripper, now only if I could learn to catch those stripper......

My first luck with bass fishing was the late 90's early 2000's. for me it was a 6" zoom lizard in cherry seed red on a T-rig. Fast forward to this summer one of my nicer fish was on a 8" zoom solid black magnum lizard. Love to hear the history lessons, keep them coming guys!
  20. I have the 3700 slim Edge as well, it is the best terminal tackle box I have put my hands on. The extra money is worth the fact that you don't have to cut the plastic off the dividers (I HATE CUTTING UP DIVIDERS!).
  21. I have a couple reservoirs like that near me, in the shallows I have better luck with Trig worms and lizards or shaky head with zoom trick worm. Don't be afraid to throw something like a top water popping frog with long pauses when its cooler out, I have had luck with that also.
  22. I wish we had musky / pike near me, but I have a ball catching Bowfin. My fishing buddy and I went last Sunday and caught a couple dozen ranging from about 2 pounds to 6-7 lbs along with a Pickeral or two also.
  23. I use it as a one / two punch, I fish the frog until I am getting blowups but not hook ups (make sure hooks are tipped out and up and trim your legs/skirt). Then I grab my flipping stick and shoot a punching jig or T-rig in the holes or areas near the blow ups. Its what has worked for me, although I have had less success flipping than frogging to be honest.
  24. The guys at Protech are great, picked up some great deals rods, reels, and nice baits in there. Super knowledgeable about stuff past and present. Glad you got ahold of what you were looking for.
  25. Don't discount the Tranx 200 for a drag stat. I have caught a bunch of 30"-36" wide rays in salt water that will routinely pull drag off a Cardiff 400 on my Tranx 200 with minimal drag slip. It will perform just fine for snakehead. As far as the sizing it is very similar to my SLX DC 150's, very comfortable to fish with for hours. If you are that concerned step up to the Tranx 300, a little bigger but still very comfortable to fish with especially with the power handle.
