  1. The idea of bank fishing the everglades creeps me out. I hate snakes. Would never kill one if I saw one as I assure you I’d be no where near it. I live outside of Chicago in a suburb with a great riverwalk in the downtown area. About 10 years ago we had tons of rain which really raised water levels. As a result, those big black water snakes relocated. We had an infestation for lack of better words, of these fellas. Big and about as thick as my wrist. They’d sun themselves out on the sidewalks. Dozens of them at once. I know they are harmless but jeez…..did it give me the willies. Now every time we go down there my wife playfully likes to draw an “S” down my back. My reaction always gets a laugh out of anyone close by. It’s not one of my most masculine reactions let’s just say.
  2. Falcon rods are held in very high regard. I have several of the new Cara’s on rotation. A mix of heavy and extra heavy Amistads. No bling. Just a clean, classic look with some of the best components you can get. Actions and sensitivity is top notch. While Loomis might be the Mercedes of rods, I always think of Falcon as the Ram/F-150/Silverado of rods. Rugged. Truly, a man’s man of bass rods.
  3. Halo HFX 7’3” medium heavy for me. Super sensitive, comfortable, and just a perfect feel. Use mine for chatter-baits. Absolutely a joy to fish all day. $150 price tag but you can get 15% off if you look.
  4. Often not talked about enough, but the Halo HFX series is ridiculously sensitive for their price point. Clean builds as well.
  5. Mix in some trips alone from the bank. I’ve done both methods…fished off a friends boat and bank fished alone. I prefer the solo trips at this stage in my life. Big corporate gig, wife, 4 kids (18, 9, 7, and 4). It’s my moment of solitude (aside from the daily morning constitution and a BassPro catalog)
  6. Hypothetically, you shouldn’t be selling. Only buying. Signed Bait ?
  7. Pics! Pics! Pics! This may be the year I try an Expride
  8. It was the green tint. You have to see it in person. Was not a fan at all. Wish they did all black instead.
  9. Not a fan of Tatsu at all. Way too soft for my liking. P-Line tactical is my line of choice. Great sensitivity, great abrasion resistance, great knot strength (so long as they are tied correctly).
  10. If purely color is of concern, go with the Curado K 200. All stealth black aside from spool and tension knob. I was all geared up to get the 150 until I saw it in hand, in person. Wasn’t a fan. Saved a few bucks, went with the Curado K, and prefer the look.
  11. I think I’ll continue to bang the banks and just watch the boats after reading this. Truly, a comedy of errors but glad it all worked out for you!
  12. Me and a buddy we’re bank fishing all day in the heat of summer. We fished until about 9pm that night. He leaves…I stay back to make a few more casts. By this time it’s dark. Flipped on the flashlight that’s in my iPhone to gather gear up, walk to the car, and load. I load everything in the car, do a key check and wallet check before I leave. Suddenly…my phone is no where to be found. I’m frantically searching and re-trace my steps to the bank I just left. Looking high and low for the better part of 45 minutes. Finally, I give up. Head back to the car and just before opening the driver side door, I flip the “flashlight” off. There in my hand the entire time was the d**n phone.
  13. I will say my Halo HFX rods are very clean and consistent builds. Actions are consistent as well. Sleeper rod company.
  14. Can’t wait for that first cast. Looks like it will be game on next weekend. Here in Northern IL we have 10 straight days of temps (40’s and 50’s) above freezing and sun. In fact just this morning following this year’s Teardown and cleaning, I spoiled up and set brakes, tension, and drags accordingly so I wouldn’t forget ?
  15. Hey - we’re in the same neck of the woods! I frequent all those places often and they are more south-side locations. North-siders have Lee’s in Elk Grove and Carol Stream and Anglers International up in Palatine
  16. Rods and reels are the stable relationships. Lures are the no-named one nighters for me.
  17. 873CRR without a second thought
  18. Spinning reels are boring. I have one Stradic Ci4+ with 20lb braid. I just prefer my baitcasters…feels more natural
  19. I’ll be looking forward to tomorrow morning with my coffee that’s for sure!
  20. That was just my warm up order ?. Of course now that I said that; one of the cars will probably need repairs, tuition to my daughters college will get paid, small bills paid off to be 100% debt free…….I’ll be lucky if I get two packs of freaking senkos! This person called the wife, and the four other called kids really mess with my priorities ?
  21. Two more Halo HFX rods on the way, Spro frog in Killer Gill, a few Stick Jackets, Owner offset worm hooks, Pline Tactical 15lb, Pline xbraid 40lb are the latest hauls. And a $13k federal income tax return hasn’t even deposited yet ?
  22. Loving the updates!! Good for you and your giving me plenty of ideas! if you don’t mind me asking, what are you “all in” from $ at this point?
