Daiwa Spinning Reel question
if they drop the switch they need to drop the price. Theres alot of pieces that make up that reverse mechanism. I just put my supreme back together an hour ago and was surprised how many parts make up the whole reverse assy. I will never buy a reel without one.

Does anybody use a Pflueger President XT Spinning Reel ?
i may just hold off on buying another pfleuger reel as this finding parts for the supreme is just stupid. I cant even buy the cap that covers the the handle insert hole which is worth probably .0001 of a cent. The cap is made of cheap plastic and since i move my handle over every hr from side to side the threads have stripped. How hard is it to find parts for daiwa or shimano?

Does anybody use a Pflueger President XT Spinning Reel ?
i went to Pure Fishing, the pflueger website and emailed them a week ago for parts availability and never heard back. I looked for parts on before mentioned parts places and alot of parts have been discontinued. Are all reel manufacturers this way, hard to get simple repair parts for simple constructed reels?

Does anybody use a Pflueger President XT Spinning Reel ?
i use a president xt and a supreme, i bought them for the weight factor being lighter than other brands. I abuse my reels by accidently dunking them in water when i wader fish. I also abuse the heck out of them by reeling against the drag when i have a big fish on and dragging me into the weeds. The supreme is a year old as is the xt. The supreme was giving me problems last week with a sticking reeling in problem where i had to nudge the handle to get it to turn so i tore it down 100% and found no problems in the gears. After all that hard against the drag reeling all gears look excellant. I did find a loose screw on the crosswind lever that attatches to the long rod that pushes the spool up and down so maybe that was a problem as the pinion gear looked good as well and thats what rotates the spool. I dont know but will test it out this week after i lube it up and put it back together. I actually like the president xt better just because it has a cork handle and it feels easier to grab and reel in with but the supreme is a better build internally which i have found out while tearing it down. I will buy another president xt as a 3rd reel whenever i can find one on sale.

correct, sell your trade-in yourself, the dealers want you to think you are gettin value for your trade-in. Never tell a dealer you have a car you want to trade in untill the final numbers are on paper and you are satisfied then say hey i have a trade in.

I’m headed out. Nervous. Haha.

All next week in east central minn and nd look hot again so i will go out next week in the late afternoon into the evening just to get out into nature away from tv and radios. Plus my hands dont smell like bass and i miss that so i need to get out and get them stinky.

hondas make some of the best engines of any manufacturer. With routine oil changes using the proper oil that engine should last 300,000 miles or more. honda engines use camshaft to rocker, rocker pushing down on valve ,eliminating a pressurized hydraulic lifter, what this means is you have to manually adjust your valve train about every 100,000 miles. You may have a valve that is not closing and to get rid of a honda pilot which are very sought after vehicles is bad judgement. Did the mechanic do a wet compression test? a compressed air test to determine if valves are seating? Is this a dealership that wants to sell you a car then turnaround if you trade in your pilot will fix it for pennies and make thousands?

Another Palomar knot question
when i tie the palomar i pull on the mainline by wrapping it around my fingers and give it a heck of a good pull and the tagline i also pull real hard. This past month i have been snelling lots of hooks about 15 inches long with a #8 spro swivel on the the other end using #30 fluoro blue label seaguer. With spit i have to really pull the mainline hard by wrapping line around my hand and for the tag end being short i will take a small pliers and pull it with a good tug to cinch it up. Have not had any failures with 12 lb, 20lb, 30lb or with braid as my mainline. when i tie the palomar i pull on the mainline by wrapping it around my fingers and give it a heck of a good pull and the tagline i also pull real hard. Another Palomar knot question
loose and bring the loop up over the lure or hook and bring it to the top so it lays on top of mainline and tag end. Use lots of spit and tighten down pulling tag end, mainline at the same time or sometimes depending on thickness of line you may have to pull tag and mainline separatly to get it to cinch.

Minn. Detroit Lakes fishing report weds.
Looked and felt like perfect weather at the Long Bridge bridge on detroit lakes. Overcast cool breeze blowing onto the cove i was wading, lots of lilly pads and submerged grass and deeper of the pad edge. I threw kietech swimbait, tr senko, crankbait, and padcrasher frogs. In 2 1/2 hours i caught a total of 0 fish. I had 2 blowups on the frog but they missed the frog, i dislike blind fish. The good thing i got out of that cove was my waders didnt leak so they are fixed. Went to another lake, threw out a 956 senko from the bank and first cast caught a dink. I walked the bank pitching a tr senko with a 1/4 oz pegged bullet weight and in the submerged weeds. I got nothing from the submerged weeds , last year this area was much deeper now its much shallower. So i turned around and fished the lake on the other side of the road. This side has pads, lots of pads and submerged weeds but again it is much shallower than last year. I didnt know if there would be bass in the shallow waters so i tossed out the same senko i was using and i ended up dragging it across the tops of the pads and it would fall into a crease in the pads and i would pull it out and continue dragging it untill it fell into another hole in pads. Well it fell of a pad into the water and it got hit and i had a tug o war with that fish to the point where i had to point the rod at the water, grab the line and pull him out including the mess of weeds. After that my reel went to heck and is now torn apart. It was 3.5 lber so i thought keep doing what i am doin and dragged it across the pads, let it fall and i caught 2 more bass.Caught nothing in the weed beds, all were hiding under the pads. So i put on a frog and the pads were like floor tile, not much water exposed for a frog to take a dip in and outside the pads they just wernt hangin there. I did have 2 blowups in the pads but the pads so thick they never had the frog in their mouth. Wife caught 3 bass and a meaty pike all on tr senko but overall the bite is slow. The panfish people showed up and soon left as the bite was just not happening for them either and this was now 7.30 pm.

Is my Pfleuger Supreme 30 pinion gear bad? need answer, pics incl.
my 1 year old pfleuger supreme 30 spinning reel has dragged out some 5 lb bass from heavy weeds throughout its life and i always reel through the drag when fighting a fish from going into the weeds. So this year 2 weeks ago my reel was hard to turn, i even took off the spool and rotor assy and and it still was hard to reel in spots of the rotation. So i didnt take it apart at the gearbox but i did oil up what i seen at this point of teardown and it worked fine untill yesterday. I fought a 3.5 lber out of the weeds reeling through the drag and darn if the reel rotation started gettin hard again to where i had to force handle to turn the spool. So today i tore reel completely down and did find a loose screw on the crosswind block aka ossilating slider which is connected to the main shaft which through the drive gear moves the spool up and down. Is that a problem to cause stiff rotation due to binding? i dont know but all the gears look good except for the pinion gear? The pinion gear is machined to where it looks sheared off and worn flat, Theres no way the gear has worn itself on my reel because if that was the case there would be shavings of the pinion gear stuck in the grease and the drive gear and there isnt. Look at the gear pinion, do you see anything that would cause a problem? I cant find a good pic of a new pinion gear to compare with. I am including a video of a guy explaining what can cause a spinning reel to not rotate. This is a very good learning vid. The pflueger supreme has the same type of crosswind block except plueger only uses 1 screw to hold to shaft not 2.

2021 Minnesota Fishing Season
wife and i are going wednesday afternoon to fish the early evening and into dark if anything is biting. Am going to put the waders on and fish around detroit lake long bridge area in the deep channel that runs under the bridge into a cove. I drove by it a week ago and water so low i can now wade the cove shoreline that will be in the shade where before shoreline was deep from the getgo. I have all worms, tube, rage menace, swimbait kaitech on t rigs and will just toss in the weeds and weed edge close to channel and see what happens. Also will toss out a frog, popr and buzzbait if nothin happining. I will also wear earplugs so i dont have to hear the wife fishing from shore yelling out to me that she caught another big one by doing what she does best, which is throwing a t rig worm or a crankbait and being patient. same here, they have moved out long time ago, even the skinnys.

Found more hair in wifes reel than on top of my head.
had a problem with my pflueger reel which i will discuss later but today i took apart my wifes well used and scarred pflueger president reel, cleaning the line roller bearing assy and yes it was crusty and dirty inside the components. I cleaned up the dirt and then dropped some rem oil onto top of sealed bearing line roller and put back together. The components look so cheap its a wonder these reels can even stand up to a hard pulling fish. I understand its all about weight savings but still it all looks so weak. Then i felt the need to go further beyond the spool removel and i pulled off the rotor and to my surprise i found more of her long hair wrapped around the shaft. Just really surprised how the hair could get up underneath the rotor where the clearance is very small. Anyway removed the debris-hair and put back together knowing that i will have to periodically have to remove the rotor and that has me thinking that the tiny screws they use to hold the components together may fail. After a few dissasemblies they may just strip out and then its basically a throw away and get a new one.

Detroit Lakes Minn. fishing report from wed 14th
Wheres the water? started fishing at 11.30 am, it was 80f, hazy and cloudy with 10 mph wind blowing onto bank for bank fishing, looked great for some spinners, chatters, crankbaits, top waters but nothin bit. Walked the shoreline throwing a black kingtail tr into the thick shallow weeds and to the outside but with water extremely low the weeds are topping out way beyond the normal weedline dropoff where before they would be well underwater. I caught a nice fighting 3.5lber which i dragged out of the weeds but after that i got nothin, i threw jigs into the open areas of weeds but no hits. The bass slayer, aka my wife only got 1 bass but was a nice 4 lber which againe she casted a thousand times to get it. We then packed up and left for a lake where we can dock fish from shore on pelican lake, well the docks are sittin in about a foot of water and the spring that runs into that area is not running so we looked and drove off to another lake that always produces fish. We were there a week ago and now water so low my frog fishing lily pads are in a foot of water and though i tried there was no action with the frog, my frog tossing may be done for the year as it looks bleak at all my frog lakes due to water levels where i can now walk into the pads on dry land where before i caught fish. Now it was nice and overcast and 15mph wind blowing onto the bank but still the fish were not hangin around. I caught a bass dink on my last resort wild walleye swim bait and of course the bass slayer caught a 4 lber on a crankbait, sigh. Then i caught a sunny on a tr senko, whoopee. Unbelievably i called it at 8.30 pm as before i would fish till it was dark out but it just wasnt happening and may have to cross this favorite lake off the list for the rest of the year. Its only mid july and the water is going away only to get worse with extended 2 week forcast of 90 degree heat and sun. I am staying home for a break and will go out again next week in the evening hours, not gonna throw the towell in on the season.

eyelids are to keep your eyes moist, a bass underwater will always have moist eyes?. Bass are what some million years evolved, if they needed eyelids i think they would have them by now?. It has more to do with the suns heat penatrating the water from what i have heard. Anyone else have an opinion on this?

Braid gone bad?
My spiderwire always has tiny pieces of fiber standing up after its broken in and thats after the dye wears off which is within a 1/2 hr of casting. Are you saying that your line has no tiny fibers standing up along the entire line? My line looks like an old sweater at only 4 months of use. I dont worry about the fibers as i never have had a problem since i started using spider in 1992. But I do replace my spider wire every year. Maybe for next year i reverse it because at the end of a long cast the line on spool is new and dark green but i would need to add a few yards of something else to make up for the line i lost this year due to retying the clip every time i go out.
