  1. i'm a Hobie guy, but my friends float on Natives. i haven't really investigated, but i seem to think their feet are always kinda wet. the scuppers dont drain water all that fast. maybe it is an upsurge from them running motors. dunno. they love them, and they stand up with way less "grunt" than i do. you're in a good place. so many good and interesting kayaks out there.
  2. just me, but i dont like pitching with a spinning reel. but, you could do either with either. no set rules. i used spinning for neko, and dropshot. and if i ever fished a Ned. but in general, if i can cast it with a casting reel, i go that route.
  3. sometimes. my friends at this fishing store could do a cool knot that didnt slip. i paid a bit more, but whatever. i cannot reverse engineer their knot. DIY? i use some trilene mono. it is the smarter move. my friend uses Lews reels. he is straight braid. he doesnt even knot it anymore. he just stuffs and end thru the wiffle holes and starts cranking. hahha.
  4. Clearlake. I cast to the the rising carp. The bass are with them usually.
  5. phew!! I was just about to burn some sage and kills a chicken...for you. the chicken is grateful to the Rage bait.
  6. early winter for me. I follow giant bait balls.
  7. i had a day drop-shotting smallies from 60 feet of water. it was okay. i prefer shallower. 20 feet or less.
  8. i went into a store and bought a very humble Daiwa VIP fiberglass rod to drift for rockfish in the Pacific Ocean. my intentions were to dust off an old LEWS heavy duty, fill it with braid and use that to drop jigs on the ocean floor. about 90 feet down. probably wreck the reel, in the salt but i only use it to reverse braid on other reels. the store manager, is a delightful woman. halibut catching master. she asks, "dont you need a reel?" "no, i'll get that later" "well, if you buy a Lexa 300, we have a promotion where you get a free rod!" "wut?" i wanted a one salt rod option. i hopefully dont get all mired down in gear for rockfish/halibut. she suggested a swimbait rod would work for both. not perfect for both, but work. and i could throw a big swimbait now. at home, my wife, "so, you think you can actually catch a few rockfish?" no pressure. hahhaha... Surprise purchase. i really hope a rockfish will fit in my bass net. hahhaah.. my friend is giving me terminal tackle, since i am flying blind and really dont even know what i need in terms of hooks/weights/bait/lures.
  9. no. i am a late adopter into the Zillionaire lifestyle.
  10. still difficult to find?
  11. to be honest, i have zero complaints. at least i should have zero complaints. i am in kicksas health. awesome teeth, healthy body weight, and great blood numbers. i can still put on my socks standing up, and i can get up off the floor without using my hands. age wise, i am a coot. but i dont ever say, "kids these days..."
  12. nope. bleeding brakes with the wife at the brake-pedal. hahah..my sister rented the largest U-haul truck, and a trailer to pull the SUV. i loaded it for her, and was going home when my mom said, "i think you should drive it to Oregon for her". what? (that meant i was going to be there to unload). anyways i did. i drove home, showered, put together some travel luggage and i drove that rig from Tx to OR. the house they rented had a long curvy driveway. i backed that thing up that driveway and put it all right at the doorstep. my BIL had trouble driving it out, straight. ahhah... i was too young to realize my limitations. "i got this"
  13. DVT has one of my MGL 150's. lets see how it does when it gets back. i never noticed the geariness, until i bought Zillions..then with the 150MGL, it was, "how do i even use this thing?" hahah.. great reels nevertheless. i seem to have more line noise than anything else. but that reel DVT is babysitting, was clacky. if that even makes sense.
  14. I've been kayak fishing going on 4 years now. first time I have ever seen a guy load out like this. scenario: regular pristine boat ramp. concrete, deep full lake. kayak Old Town electric PDL thing. (he was fast on the water!). Truck was a Ford F250 diesel rig, stock. the dude backed his truck down the ramp and into the water. his exhaust was just to the point of burbling in the water. he untied his kayak from the dock, walked it to the truck, hopped in the truck and pulled it up and into the truck bed, and jumped on the dock, jumped into his truck and drove off. he pulled into the shade and broke down his gear. it was a clean move. I have a camper shell on my old truck, so I cant do this. I asked and he said he drops his kayak off the same way.
  15. the fingers exposed. true. but the fingers curl and clench and are not exposed as much as the back of the hands. I like Simms pro-guide gloves, but I hate the price. I tried the Orvis ones. and my hand kinda still tan lightly. hmmmm.. I will mow thru a few brands.
  16. I can’t believe some of you all can home in on the identity of a Bait. cool and scary all at once. I have crankbaits I bought I cannot identity!
  17. no cheap sunglasses. not super cheap ones. my eye doc said they make the situation worse. they dilate open our eyes and let in more UV rays. they have to at least filter UV. those $2 knockoffs at the bottom of gangways of cruise ships wont get it done.
  18. my granddad worked outside. his hands looked hammered. no thanks
  19. I wear gloves to not burn. stab wounds are one thing. a melanoma is another. the men in my family is cancers playground. I dont mess around. plus I dont want old man hands were they are all thin skinned and spotty.
  20. not to diminish from that giant cat..but what pants are those? bibs?
  21. I followed a tiny rattle snake swimming once for about 30 minutes. no..no excitement.
  22. I launder them regularly. with my wife's things. this past week, I took them out and as I paddled into the misty calm of a lake, I lifted a cup of coffee to my face and I smelled FUNK. what was that? I discovered my gloves smelled like lake scum mated with shower mold and had a smell-baby. wow. so I fish the day and got home and do what I always do. I put my hat and my gloves into one of those "Delicates" mesh bags for laundry and tossed them into the pile. I fished them out and decided to soak them overnight in OxyClean. hahah..the water was nasty. I am sunning them now, after handwashing them. look at the water! The grit settled in the pic.
