Green pumpkin red flake Zoom Tube Texas rigged on a 3/0 Superline EWG hook, 1/4 oz weight with a bobber stop, will move the bobber stop out of the way at times, cut a 1/2 inch slit from the skirt where the hook enters so the tube collapses better- Using reels the "wrong way"
i use RH baitcasters, i cast both on my right and left sides, it's about my body's angle to the target the idea is definitely common, especially considering most left hand reeling baitcasters are used by right handed anglers who also cast with their right hand- What Line for this Setup
30lb PowerPro braid to a 12lb Yo-Zuri hybrid leader, if i had to choose the brands, i would do the braid-leader combo because you want to use swim jigs and i would remove the leader for the swim jigs- Only one moving bait rod
Dobyns 704 or 734 of any kind- Chattertube?
Recently have seen a bunch of videos regarding this "bait modification", a tube that is used as a naked trailer on a chatterbait (no skirt). Any thoughts?- Finesse Jig Trailers
my first ever finesse jig setup was a TRD craw on a bitsy flip jig, horrible trailer keeping but the action was great, the claws stood up perfectly- Best Gear ratio for frog fishing
7.4 Shimano Curado K- Help me become a better jig fisherman.
get a finesse jig that can do everything, bring only that per outting swim it around or hop it- Pet peeve regarding "centrifugal brake" nomenclature
i always feel itchy when someone says flipping when they really mean PITCHING, the techniques are completely different- White Pearl Color Stick Worms ?
Noted. ?- extra-fast actions
ive broken two rods before: the worst sound you'll ever hear is a loud "crack" when closing the door behind you- Dobyns Maverick rods + Dobyns reels
id argue that is the MOST important aspect to consider- Your Favorite Skipping Jig
i have a DC reel so i have one single setup with me, a Siebert Sniper Jig with either a Zoom Z-Craw or a Missile Baits D-bomb (full and junior versions of both) the only time id separate into two setups is if i want a 1/2+ pitching setup for heavier cover, otherwise any jig i can skip with can also be pitched (alot of people use two separate setups because they need different braking systems for each technique) anytime i can skip under something, i will try, for two reasons: there is always a chance a fish there hasnt seen a bait and that i feel like a badass- What fishing knot to tie?
"the best knot to tie is the best knot you CAN tie" for 2021 and maybe beyond, that was the Uni/Fish-n-fool knot- Finesse Jig Trailer
Zoom Z-Craw and Z-Craw Jr.- Does this look wrong?
right? i cant imagine a slight imperfection with the brake wings affecting any performance with the actual brakes. even if it did, ive never used all six together so there is plenty reason to turn that specific one off- need help catching jumping bass
lol, my bad, 5ft was an exaggeration based on how frustrated I am, 1/2 to 1 foot is more accurate (a similar phenomena occurs whenever I measure the weight of any catch) yes, the green back is unmistakably a largmouth bass- need help catching jumping bass
the water is a reservoir in northern VA, the water temp is around 55-60, the main forage is bluegill but I wouldn't be surprised to see tiny minnows the bass (Largemouth) tend to jump on dead to mild calm winded days, going 5 ft in the air, with 1-2 minute intervals in-between, there is no surface breaking from any schools of anything, so I'm always surprised when they jump, this activity continues throughout the day so here's what I've tried: ... EVERYTHING... When I first saw the jumping, I immediately thought "topwater day, it is" but after throwing topwater (spooks, wake baits, buzzbaits) for about an hour with absolutely no response from the bass, I switched to subsurface, thinking "maybe they're chasing the bait around" so I threw spinnerbaits and chatters and cranks and glidebaits and so much more. Even tried as much finesse as I know; wacky rigs, dropshots, Neko rigs, flukes. Finally I started throwing bottom baits, thinking "well, they must be on the bottom, looking up at the bluegill, and attacking so fast that it launches them out of the water". Out came the jig (cuz you know I'll always have one on) and Texas rig, nothing. So here's what I have successfully caught at this reservoir: I had a single day where the wacky rig was the right choice, about 7 hookups, but only two landed fish because I suck (I'm really bad at logging weather conditions but I'll say it was blue sky with no wind). I've had a different type of day (maybe cloudy?), where I caught a single bass on a jerkbait. there is one other bait that I have successfully hooked up on... I was so fed up with seeing these flying bass for over 6 hours, one day, that I pulled out the ultralight and pursued the bluegill. A 3 pound bass smashed my two inch panfish grub and fought for a minute before shaking the hook free on a jump... so now I ask: was it a bait-size, technique, or bait type issue? or, are these fish simply not worth chasing?- Buzzbait help
