  1. I fish a Mizmo tube rigged with an insider hook year round, and i mean year round even the 3 spawning stages, even in the winter, presentation is key... is it an escaping crawdad? is it an injured baitfish? or is it just an unknown object laying in my bed? i don't know, i don't know.
  2. DO NOT sleep on throwing a 'Devils Horse' on top of bedding bass, just let it sit there, they hate that Shlt
  3. Sounds good Dude. Thanks for the comments guys. i need to get in on this too Rob... Sloemoe any chance you can head out this Friday afternoon?
  4. yeah, I go to JMU. I'm not sure if I'll be able to fish during spring break though, I'm planning on doing a road trip with my buddies to New Orleans. If that falls through, I'll let you know. I'd definitaly be interested in fishing spring. (Spring break is first week of march.) you wouldn't be going to new orleans for a paritcular event would you? I'll bet there as well over March 11
  5. Rob, who is that in the picture? p.s. i'm sure you think i've retired from fishing and will be giving you my chronarch mg and curado... you're wrong maybe i'll suprise you this wekend with my hungover presence. 8-)
  6. i know that area pretty well and I can't think of any other lakes near there except Brittle and Crocket, both of which are public... are you lying to us? do you have some secret access to Heaven (lake manassas) that you're keeping to yourself? i would to, i would never jeopardize that privledge. god i miss that place.
  7. so.... any private owners reading this post : can we talk? 8-)
  8. what happened? Id imagine the reel moved in the seat- mine did it to- all I did was put a 1/2" piece of e-tape on the reel and it is now perfect. Some reels are a bit loose in the seat- : i was being facetious... he lost the rod in an actual boating accident on an outing we had one day it's at the bottom of the occoquan now
  9. does anyone know of any public launches?
  10. anyone know where i can launch on the warm side? can i get to the warm side from the main lake if i laungh out of a public marina?
  11. sounds like the shakey head was "IT" again Rob 8-)
  12. my powerpro chips the blades on fingernail clippers :-? never ever had that problem, i swear by power pro and finger nail clippers
  13. I'm 25 now but i grew up fishing with my father since i was young and when i got to around 12 or so i'd go with him and his friend, they'd go all over our area always way before sun-up. I'd be sleeping in the back with the country music on and my swiss cake rolls and Dr. Pepper. Anyway My dad's buddy just is retired now and lives on Smith Mountain lake right on the water in a beautiful cove. His house is a tackle shop basically he has a gigantic safe that he keeps brand new un opened reels in including many top name shimano's, tons of lures as he has the long time running joke that he likes to let them age before he uses them and many many rod racks. When he moved he left us to borrow his Jon boat and we had it for years until he emailed my dad telling him the boat is now mine and he'll sign the registration over to me when we visited him, and he did. He still does some work and just went overseas for some number of months and before he left he sent my dad an email... "Hey Mike, Trev looks like he is doing okay fishing. Much better than me!!!! I haven't been out in the jon boat in months as you needed a ladder to get into it. No rain down this way and the lake is 4-5 feet low. We are over 13inches behind in rainfall. Tell Trevor if he even hears of my passing or if I live long enough to give up fishing he gets all my fishing gear. I'm sure there will be a few new reels in the safe that have never been used and 15 or 20 unused rod too... and of course 50 or 60 new lures that are aging too... You know I like to age them before use!! Nicole (his daughter) is aware of this and will try to contact Trev in the event of.. I am heading out on Wednesday and am scheduled to return on 01/20/08. Maybe in 08 we can do some fishing. Keep in touch." So that's just an example of what someone has planned ahead of time on doing... pretty cool i think, although i definately hope nothing happens to him.
  14. I'm actually suprised no one has mentioned this yet but, nothing works better on braid IMHO than a simple pair of finger nail clippers, you don't even have to spend money just open the miscellaneous drawer at home and grab a pair to keep in your pocket, on your belt or around your neck. BEST solution imo.
  15. you guys better get some permission
  16. Went out with flipin4it on Lake Braddock, I caught one on a spinnerbait near the bank in some cover and he caught 3 on a shakey head, should have been 4 but he missed a 5 pounder right by the boat on a shakey head. Anyway it was slow the surface temp was 48 degrees and the water was clear for the most part on one end and stained where rob was catching his, but we had a fun day full of one liners and zingers jokin' around with each other and catching up on life, really glad I've got such cool fishin' partners. Nothing special but here's a look at our keepers.
  17. can't go wrong with a panther martin spinner, can't stress that enough, also trout magnets or like itty bitty jigs for trout, you bounce it along, try those, it's almost like fishing for small mouth, oxygenated water, behind rocks and such are hot spots.. don't lip them, there itty bitty teeth are a little more sharp than a bass but it's nothing bad or anything just grab them around the back of the head or under the belly if you're going to catch and release... also if you're going to catch and release MAKE SURE TO WET YOUR HAND BEFORE TOUCHING THEM they have delecate scales and it can damage them, so wet your hand! have fun! here's my catch one day... caught out of here...
  18. go to SFTtackle.com and click on the Mizmo link, they make a nice swimbait called the baracude with awesome unique action.... http://sfttackle.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=category.display&category_ID=30
  19. i've fished there in the past in many different types of conditions with my father... it's just never ever produced anything for us or anyone i've spoken too.... i take it you fish there? well keep at it and share you success stories... i will however stick to my places that have produced fish on numerous occasions
  20. How often do you fish Brittle? never anymore, my dad and I used to go there, curtis and lake manassas, brittle stopped producing so i don't waste my time, i've spoken with many people that have tried and NOT ONE person has said a good thing about it, the last thingi caught our of there was a snoopy fishing pole... it's a haul to get out there for most people it's not worth the trip go to curtis or crockett
  21. well i keep forgetting to take a picture so i just photoshopped one, here's what i was talking about... it really works great, when it floats now the new fron end kinda sticks out so when you twitch it, it dives down and causes the walk the dog action... BEFORE AFTER
  22. here ya go bring spinnerbaits topwater frogs buzzbaits prepare to texas rig, jib and tube and crankbaits here's what we're going for, all caught out of Lake braddock...
  23. done deal then, i'd like to have my foat on the motor pedal before sunrise, heading to the back for some topwater action... i'll pm you directions... where are you coming from? road wise? do you know henderson rd off of davis ford road where it crosses bull run?
