  1. Anyone got hands on this yet? Im interested but $399 is a bit for unknowns.
  2. Hook mainly. Seems a lot come with 5/0. Maybe a 4/0 or even a 3/0
  3. Looking for a medium size swim jig in 3/8 oz. Somewhere between Missles Ikes Mini Swim jig and Dirty Jigs No Jack swim jig
  4. Looking for a medium size swim jig in 3/8 oz. Somewhere between Missles Ikes Mini Swim jig and Dirty Jigs No Jack swim jig
  5. Yeah my next will have smaller/lighter guides. Ive really got to where I dont like these even on regular builds and have started using the lighter version or I’m back to using clnag/clag
  6. Huge fan of Rapala DTs 8-20, Azuma Timmy Horton z Boss, and Strike King 4s 5s and 5xds i fish Shearon Harris south of Raleigh and have done pretty good on the Azuma and Dt10s
  7. Berkley Stingers are awesome. 3.5 and 4.25 and almost identical to what you want to make.
  8. Get some regular 110s some 110+ and some 110 jrs
  9. Im assuming the only difference in the Tatula Elite and the Coastal SV Tw is the SV spool on the Coastal? Wonder if gears for elite would fit coastal. Would love to make one of my coastals a 6.3:1
  10. I have been on Daiwa's website and compared the 3. I cant tell the difference. I think the SV TW is set up to cast lighter baits. If so why and what are the differences.
  11. Are you fishing Shearon Harris, Jordan, or local ponds
  12. Be careful btw. I have spent about $500 on crankbaits this summer. It became an addiction for me
  13. I have gotten real big into crankbaits this summer and early fall. I have a lot to still learn but here are my opinions on your questions 1) what is your preferred shallow diving crankbait, medium diving, and deep diving crankbaits? I actually like fishing those 8-15 ft depths where it drops to 20-30 ft of a point or ledge. I really like Rapala DTs, SK pro 4s/5s/5XD, and here recently started fishing Azuma Timmy Horton 10s & 20s. These Azumas have an amazing paint job and you can cast them a mile. Probably caught more fish on the DT 10s than any other bait this spring an summer. 2) are there any large shallow crankbaits? I mostly fish for size not quantity. Big fish hit small baits too. I try and match the hatch. Huge fan of Strike King 1.5 Squarebills, Rapala Otts Garage Slim, Rapal DT 6s/8s, and Strike King Chick Magnets. I want to get some of the Spro Little Johns because they look great. 3) do you think a deep diving crankbaits Require a different set up and shallow or medium meaning do you need to have your power Rod, And if so what power. Depends on what you call deep diving. I can use a medium heavy moderate action rod with a lure rating up to 1 oz for SK 6XDs but for anything bigger I have been using a swimbait rod that is 7'11, heavy/fast action with a lure rating up to 2 oz. This rod wears me out throwing 10XDs, 6th Sense Cloud 9 C20s, and C25s. I am building a new rod with a lot of glass in it to soften it. This will be moderate action and medium heavy power with a lure rating up to 2oz. I have recently started using some of the Berkley Dredgers and right now they are some of my favorite deep divers. They are about 25-40% smaller than other crankbaits that dive to similar depths. Reel wise the Tatuala 150 with the 5.5:1 gear ratio is awesome. Some of the guys on here turned me on to it. 4) What’s the best crankbait for Ponds? I rarely fish ponds anymore but I will bank fish at lakes some. Any of the shallow crankbaits listed above will work. Good to find a rocky point at these ponds or an area with gravel.
  14. Best way to look at these is go to daiwa.us and compare them. Website has that option. If I remember correctly one of those is a bfs light bait reel and one maybe a high gear ratio.
  15. Im a huge fan of the Kamikaze as a bladed jig trailer. It, the zako, and the Sk perfect plastic blade minnow are the best.
  16. I ordered one of these and just want to pass on that they are sweet blanks, very affordable, and perfect for cranking and bladed jigs. I went with a SG79HM for bigger 10XD size crankbaits and Chatters 1 oz and bigger but plan to order a SG70MHM for lighter cranks, spinnerbaits, and bladed jigs. I would have ordered more but wanted to make sure they werent all glass noodles.
  17. Im just swapping out as they get dull.
  18. Going to replace some hooks on Rapala DTs and Strike King Pro 4s through Strike King 6xd. What mid prices hook do yall recommend ? Also short shanked or not? I know sizes. These are as hooks get dull. I have fished several baits all spring and summer that are not as sharp as they use to be. Id rather replace than sharpen.
  19. Prior to Spring I built 2 of the casting ETEC2MH-SS, 2 of the casting ETEC72M-SS, 1 casting ETES72M-SS, and 1 spinning ETES72M-SS. I love the feel of the rods. They are light and ultra sensitive. Both the ETEC2MH-SS and the ETEC72M-SS have plenty of backbone. I will say that I have had 2 of the ETEC72M-SS break on me. One could have possibly been my fault and the other one was not my fault. Due to these blanks being high modulus, light, and stiff, they are more susceptible to breakage. FYI I have never broke one of their Immortal Series blanks or the old XP blanks.
  20. Dude thanks for this recommendation. I went with the 5.5:1. Threw a 6xd and a dredger 25.5 all morning. This thing is solid as a rock and throws plenty far. First time throwing a 6xd too. Sheww im beat. Cant imagine trying to throw that with a 7.1:1.
  21. Got it today. Solid reel. Now just need to get out and use it
  22. I honestly hadn’t even looked at this reel. This is about perfect Spec wise. How is the quality on these?
  23. I also looked at that one Hmm This may be the one. Looked at it briefly. May be a good option and save a little money
  24. Im using that for Dt-14 and smaller. Love that reel
