Yeah i probably throw a dt10 the majority of the time and Id say 80% of my cranks haven’t seen water

I cant stop buying crankbaits. The new Strike King Gravel Dawg and the new Berkley Dime have me foaming at the mouth lol. I only kayak fish but I would say I have 5-6 utility boxes full of cranks. I only take 1 double sided box in the yak. Anyone else have an obsession with a specific bait?

Im throwing parallel to banks and ripping it through grass. The Jackhammers blade gets jammed with the grass and loses its thump

They are behind unit so it shouldn’t be getting interference from that. Prop is +- 1 ft away It came new in box. Wouldn’t it be set correctly from the factory?

Ill have to check voltage. Didnt know i could check that. I only have 1 transducer and it is set it at 200khz

So I upgraded from my Lowrance hook2 reveal 5 to the lowrance elite Fs9 for my kayak. My transducer is in the water and runs parallel with the bottom of my kayak. (Not tilted either way). My down scan and sidescan look terrible. Very grainy. My batter is a 12 volt 7ah lithium batter. Any idea what im doing wrong that my image on downscan/sidescan look so bad? Both were way better on my hook reveal 5.

so I have owned an SLX DC and a Curado DC. I sold both a while ago. Interestingly enough I was looking at some reels on Digitaka's website and found the Shimano SLX XT 70 DC. It is $226 shipped via fed ex. I wasnt a fan of the SLX DC nor the Curado DC but I am in love with this SLX XT 70 DC. I cant put it down. It is the new DC chip so there are so many more adjustments than the previous models https://www.digitaka.com/item/5/4/2/4969363044709 Also look on YouTube. A guy by the name "The Reel Test" does a great review on it. I also bought a Metanium for $266 which I love but for some reason I keep grabbing that SLX DC XT 70.

Taking 5 or 6 rods makes a big difference. I took 5 rods a few times and felt crowded. However my new crate will hold up to 6 rods plus the two rod launchers in the back. Ill have to pay around with 5 or even 6 rods next time out

I was noticing today how much more drag/weight 1/2 oz and a trailer was over 3/8 oz and a trailer. i think what ill have to do is have single purpose rod for small cranks, duel purpose rod for dt10 up to dt20/6xd and bladed jig/spinnerbaits, jig rod, and drop shot/ned/small texas rig rod

I do both. I guess bigger cranks and bladed jigs/spinnerbaits are do able. Right now throw a lot of 3-8 ft diving stuff. Squsrebills, Roccos, Money Badgers, and Dt6/dt8s

Due to kayak fishing and limiting myself to taking 4 rods Im looking for rod that would be good for both crankbaits and bladed jigs/spinnerbaits. I love glass but I dont like it for anything other than cranks. The Dobyns non glass crankbait rod looks like it would be good for both.

Shimano slx Lews Custom Slp is $130 at TW now

So I played around with mine for a bit, took it out yesterday. Pros love the handle, it casts really good, and is a beautiful reel. cons feels cheap to me in hand, not a fan of the lever to access sideplate (feels cheap), and lastly the retrieve is not as smooth as you would expect for a $400 reel. To me my Bantam A at $350 is a much better reel even though its heavy. I honestly like the gen 1 better and I returned my gen 2 this morning.

So I started this thread in December and finally got one. Initial impression is that I dont know if it is a worthy upgrade from the gen 1. If I decide to keep, ill spend some time with it and report back. FYI same braking system as Gen 1 The new handles are nice and I dont see them being a problem. I also dont see them as a notable improvement over Gen1 I actually like the brake adjustment on Gen 1. New dial is a little bit tougher to get to and feels fragile.

Yeah i did later on. That was the question that got this started again. Thanks for the help. If a 70k is the same as the 70I frame wise then the Daiwa Coastal 80 sits lower to the rod and is more palmable. Matter of fact its the lowest compared to the lews pro ti slp and the Curado 150 MGL as well

Im confused now. Shimano’s website shows it as a curado 70 K. I have a few of the 150 mgls and they dont sit as low as old Curado 70 I have I know that im asking if its the same frame and sits on as low on the rod
