SHAKEY HEAD...I have had one bite on these

So I have had minimal to no success fishing a drop shot from the bank. All of my success has been from the kayak with most of my catches being on vertical drops when I mark fish on the fish finder. I have caught a few casting out and slowly bouncing back. On vertical drop I just let the weight hit bottom and then tighten up. Once tight I slowly bounce or shake.

Check out the Spro Little Johns. Big fan of the 60 DD and the 70 DD. I have a bunch of Berkley Dredgers and the new Dimes and really havent had much success with them but in all fairness its because I try them when the DT baits arent working. I also like the 6th Sense Cloud series but I feel like once you get over the C10 those baits get too big.

Loves those DTs My bite was completely shutdown today. Managed 1 fish.

Caught 10 fish yesterday with most on a Rapala DT16 in citrus. Its been pretty cool to do things to try and trigger bites. Pauses, pauses then a jerk, burn pause, slow sweep, fast sweep, and long pause. Surprisingly a long pause where the bait comes float back up is triggering a lot of bites too. Found this out yesterday when i would stop and mess with something on the kayak.

So the hook ups were just u skin. Two fell out right when i got them in the kayak. Im still figuring this out. Im using a moderate fast spinning rod with braid so that me part if the problem as well. Im going to keep playing with them

Ok we had crazy storms yesterday and through the night so had to be it. Im sure what i was seeing yesterday later in the day was thermocline. I didnt think it could change so fast.

Used these today. I was 4 for 4 with no fish lost. However i was not happy with how they were hooked. Got keep using it though. Little skeptical still because not much hook to work with.

Is there anything that drives these changes? Today same area no thermocline out to 30ft.

How quick can this change? I was fishing in 14-16 ft yesterday and caught 6 fish that were all on the bottom. Then the bite just stopped. As I kept fishing I noticed the fish were no longer on the bottom and were suspended 10-12 ft. As I kept watching he fish finder I started to see the thermocline on my fish finder and it was from 16 ft up to 13 ft. I didnt think that transition could happen that fast.

Never had a crankbait get choked this bad…Somehow i got this out without much damage. Im hoping the bleeding stopped..

I ordered some #1 EWG Gamis as well

Ill play around with it. Using a snail knot with top line going through eye and bottom down from angled shank.

So look at my bait. Its exactly tied like Nishine instructed and its angled down because the angle of the hook eye. Not sure im a fan.

I hit Shearon Harris in Central NC yesterday. I kayak fish so a good day for me typically is 3-5 fish. In October of 2022 I had a 12-15 fish day using an A-rig and thought that was a great day. Yesterday I caught 20-25 fish on a Rapala DT16, a Roboworm 4.5 inch Fat Straight Tail worm (Dropshot), and two smaller fish vertically jigging a steelshad blade bait. I lost 8-10 fish (mainly on the dropshot) so Im shopping a new hook. Previously I had only caught small bass on a dropshot. Dropshot fishing was weird yesterday I didnt feel them hit it just got heavy on the bounce and when it did i set the hook.

Nose. Not weedless. I actually run the hook down the body like a swimbait. The whole bend and point of the hook exposed. Also what size? I think i was using either a #1 or 1/0 I like.

What is the best dropshot hook made. I lost wayyyyyy too many fish today. Im using 4 inch fat straight tail roboworms.
