  1. Im looking for a jig that is similar in size to the Dirty Jigs Luke Clausen Compact Pitchin' Jig but has a longer hook to hold trailers better. The shank on the compact jig is real short so you end up cutting trailers way back. Any suggestions?
  2. A size 70/80 zillion would be sweet…
  3. Yeah knobs are weird. I have shimano gomexus handles that only work with Daiwa knobs and shimano handles that work only shimano knobs
  4. Probably a Hypermag...Im not big on this color either. I dont understand why reel companies dont stick to black and silver/grey. This reel is $279 and I think it isnt as nice as my JDM Metaniums and I think cost more but I like it better than all previous Lews. I think the size and the mag breaking i what I like the most. ITs weird to see a Lews high end reel not have a carbon handle too. I didnt get rid of a metanium and wont. But Im not also so blinded by my love for Metaniums that I wont try something else. Quality wise Id compare this reel to a Tatula SV TW.
  5. So I follow Alex Rudd on YouTube who fishes a lot of East Tennessee lakes. He crushes them on the red yellow and blaze now through early spring. I am in central NC and I have only caught a couple in early spring on crawfish patterns but have had good days on Ghost Morning Dawn and the Chartreuse back
  6. Dimes, Dredgers, 5xd, 6xt, Rapala 14 Dt-20dt, Rapala Rocco, DT4-DT 10,and Azuma Big Boss 10 Lastly some more flats and my 6th Sense squarebills
  7. Im a kayaker but a crankbait enthusiast (proper way to admit i have a problem)… Flat sides Squarebills Money Badgers, Rock Crawlers, CURVE 55, and Wiggle Warts
  8. Until i went to bass pro yesterday lol. I got rid of my Pro Tis (gen 1 and gen 2), Hypermags (gen1), and Custom Pros (gen 1 and gen 2) because I didnt like how they casted. For a centripetal braking system I just didnt like the distance I could get compared to my Metaniums. The gen 3 is different. It feels smaller, palms really well if you have small to medium hands, and will flat out slip 3/8 of a oz. Cant wait to get it on the water. Doesn’t come with the carbon handle. That is a gomexus Last pic compares size of gen 3 Custom Pros, Curado 70k HG, and Metanium 100HG
  9. I fly fish, surf fish, fish inshore, fish rivers, fish for bass, and fish for crappie and i can not think of a situation i enjoy fishing a tip heavy rod but we all like different things.
  10. I cant find factory confirm the spinnerbait monkey has nothing on the crankbait monkey. Crankbait monkey is more like King Kong
  11. Man it looks really good with the Shimano Bantam or the Silver Daiwa Tatula SV Tw Limited edition.
  12. Picked up this rod on sale for $88 shipped with taxes from TW. Man this rod is awesome and will be perfect for spinnerbaits, bladed jigs, and all cranks. A couple weeks I posted how disappointed I was in the Daiwa Zillion bladed jig rod. The zillion actually weighs about an oz less but due to it being unbalanced and tip heavy it actually feels heavier than the Ark rod. Now part of my disappointment min the Zillion was that it wasnt a good rod for heavier jerk baits. But when comparing the 2 that have the exact same purpose you get a lot better rod for $88 in the Ark than you do with the Zillion at $329 IMHO.
  13. I have some 2020s, a couple 100s, and 1 shallow edition. Its probably because i like more line, but the SE gets used the least. Honestly if i could do over id have 4 100hgs, 2 of the 100xgs, and 4 of the 2020s in the 6:3.1 gear ratio (for a little additional line capacity). The SE just doesn’t do anything special because its not quite a bfs reel
  14. Just did 12 packs for price of 6. They are also doing buy 3 Jack Hammers get 3 free. Their retail price is $20 per but you would still be getting 6 for $60 which at $10 per is a great deal
  15. $37 academy. Crazy
  16. I bought this rod hoping it was a little heavier version of a Shimano xpride EXC610MB. I was hoping the Daiwa Zillion rod would be a better fit for deep diving jerkbaits. Ie Berkley Stunna 112 + 2. Both rods are 6’10. The xpride is medium with a moderate fast action weighted 1/4-3/4 oz while the Daiwa Zillion is 6’10 with a medium heavy power and what Daiwa calls a “Regular” action which I understood as moderate fast. It is weighted 1/4-1 oz. Tackle Warehouse shows this as a bladed jig rod which i thought would translate to a good topwater/jerkbait rod as well as be good for bladed jigs. I was wrong. The rod is closer to a moderate action than a moderate fast action, diameter is substantially bigger than the xpride, and it is somewhat tip heavy. I guess due to all the glass in the blank it is also heavier than i want for a jerkbait rod and for me a tip heavy rod doesn’t work for jerkbaits either. I learned all this by fishing it all day yesterday so there is no returning it. I’ll probably keep as a bladed jig/spinnerbait/squarebill/crankbait rod.
  17. The closet rod you will find to throw both would be a Dobyns Champion 705 cb (not the glass). Great rod but might be little over loaded with a 6xd.
  18. ha funny you mention that. It was horrible. Since I build rods I added a hook keeper above the foregrip.
  19. I have searched for rods and built rods over the last 18 months in an effort to find the best jerkbait rod under $300 and the Shimano Expride EXC610MB is the best one I have found. Light, balanced, and great rod action. It is good for both 110 jr +1 and 110 +1.
  20. I am very different. I stay seated as i suck at balancing. I have discovered that I can throw perpendicular to the bank opposite of my reeling and work a jerkbait perfectly.
  21. Falls/Jordan/Shearon Harris I fish Shearon Harris a lot and have had some epic days but also get skunked there. I have never got skunked at Fall Lake. Put in a Barton Creek Boat Ramp
  22. I get that but a 7.1:1 Shimano Tranx HG is 28 ipt and a Shimano Metanium HG is 30 ipt. Getting a buzzbait up quick is tough with 28 ipt.
