Recommendations for a new frog rod under $150
Most of my stuff is heavier slop and vegetation. I also double my frog rod as a punching rod.

Hey I know you mentioned the inferno but have you messed with the endurance? It’s mag med heavy which they says is for frogs only weighs 3.7 oz

Recommendations for a new frog rod under $150
Ya I’m in a kayak so I have to double up purposes for my rods. I went with a heavy to fish frogs around slop and lay downs but also to punch with.

How do you feel throwing frogs on a medium heavy? I’ve always had the mindset of using a heavy power rod for any kind of frog applications, but I see more and more people saying they use MH

I’m just looking for something lighter than the slx that won’t tire me out after a few minutes lol

I’ll check it out. It’s hard finding weight specs on rods.

I currently have a SLX HF that has been great but it seems heavy in weight and kinda kills my wrist over time. So I’m looking at getting a different one that is more light weight but still stout enough to haul them out of the muck.

Daiwa BG 2000 Low Drag
I think I was more worried about the drag slipping on hookset.

Daiwa BG 2000 Low Drag
So what would be the shock load in this instance? Me setting the hook or the fish?

Daiwa BG 2000 Low Drag
Right on I appreciate all the advice I wen ahead and ordered it plus some extra stuff for finesse fishing. Thanks a ton

Daiwa BG 2000 Low Drag
I was gonna go 15 cause power pro seems to only come in 10lb and 15lb intervals with 10 or 8 lb leader

Daiwa BG 2000 Low Drag
I had looked at the Fuego but read about it flexing under load real bad. Also checked out the Exceler but I had read so many good things on the BG that I kind of landed on that one.

Daiwa BG 2000 Low Drag
Also I should say my hooks are the Owner Mosquito Hooks. Size 1 and 2. Also the Owner Cover Shot for Texas rigged drop shot. That sounds like a neat experiment I’ll try that out. Worst case I’ve heard of people replacing the felt washer with carbontex washers. Does this increase the Max drag?

Wacky rig?

Daiwa BG 2000 Low Drag
I’m looking to get the Daiwa BG 200 for stuff like drop shot, Ned rig, and wacky rigs. I wanted the 2000 size to save half an ounce and I like knob better. However the drag is only 4.4lbs. I’ll be using 15lb braid to probably 10 lb leader. Is that enough drag? It seems crazy low to me. I know you don’t cinch drag down on spinning gear but i feel like at 4.4lb of drag you’ll about have to cinch it all the way down.

Berkley Bullet Pop
Have never tried either of those. I’ll have to give them a shot.

Berkley Bullet Pop
Oooh that’s a good question. In my opinion the best is probably the Megabass Poppers. They walk really easy and spit really good. They’re also $20+ per bait so that’s why I said ,for the money, the bullet pops are probably my favorite.

Berkley Bullet Pop
I like them a lot. I’m not gonna say they’re the best poppers you can get but for the money I feel they’re pretty solid. The Fusion hooks are pretty good too.

Berkley Bullet Pop
I use all 70 size in 3 colors. Bone, Maverick, and Perfect Ghost. Love these lures although I do replace the hooks with #4 Owner stingers for the front hook and the Berkley Fusion #4 feathered treble for the back when the stock ones go full.

Medium Fast, Medium Light Fast, or Medium Light Xtra Fast spinning setup
Would the difference between a fast and xtra fast be that noticeable? I ask because the rod I want only has MLXF. No actually I gifted to my mom for Mother’s Day. Hers was old and the reel she had barely turned. Also wacky rig senko 5” and I’m fishing mainly from a kayak.

Medium Fast, Medium Light Fast, or Medium Light Xtra Fast spinning setup
Thank you

Medium Fast, Medium Light Fast, or Medium Light Xtra Fast spinning setup
Ah I suppose I could have included that sorry. Ned rigs are 1/8 and 3/16 drop shots will be 3/16 and 1/4 and wacky rig is weightless. Depth will vary. Could be 5 ft could be 20ft. Cover not so terribly much. Mainly rock and that slimy algae stuff. I might toss it near sparse grass and logs but that would be it.

Medium Fast, Medium Light Fast, or Medium Light Xtra Fast spinning setup
So I am getting a spinning setup and I made the mistake of researching a bunch of stuff and over complicating things. My last spinning setup was a MF that I used mainly for wacky rigs, but I want to try other things as well. I need a spinning setup for drop shots (nose hooked and Texas rigged) wacky rigs, and Ned rigs. What power and action would be best for this Medium Fast, Medium Light Fast, or Medium Light Xtra Fast? Also, as a second question, what would be a good sized reel? Depth: anywhere from 5ft to even 20+ ft. Weight: weightless to 1/4 oz Cover: little to sparse. Mainly fishing from a kayak
