  1. I know its been a while but how did your Amistad work out as a frog rod?
  2. You can work them however you want. The different heads and hooks are for different types of structure. The finesse jigs typically have a lighter hook so they can be thrown on lighter line and a lighter rod. They’re good for smaller presentation if say you’re in a pressured area or the fish just don’t want something large. They don’t usually have a stout weedguard so they’re ok for light cover. The football jigs come through rock really well and they have finesse and regular hooks depending which you get. Personally they’re my winter jig of choice because in my mind I do consider them to be the ‘dragging’ type of jig. The tapered head you mentioned is a casting or pitching jig I assume. Great all around jig if you had to go with just one style in my opinion. There’s another type of jig called a flipping jig that is more sharply tapered almost a triangle shaped head. They’re great for wood and grass and usually have stouter hooks cause they’re intended to fished in heavier cover. As for the line ties over honestly never paid much attention to that when deciding which jig to buy. Someone could school me on what orientation is used for what. I am 100% sure I glossed over a ton and maybe even got something wrong so anyone feel free to correct me.
  3. Anyone used that rod for frogging? And if so how did you like it?
  4. I like braid to leader more than straight fluoro on either top water or bottom contact presentations. I like straight fluoro on my moving baits setups. I get longer casts and personally I feel like fluoro backlashes more on me. Braid is more sensitive on tight lines but fluoro has better slack line sensitivity or at least that’s my experience. Changing a leader every now and then is also cheaper in the long run. I learned the FG knot and if I’m prepping the night before I’ll use that for braid to leader. If I’m on the water and say I snag and it breaks at the leader knot I’ll tie a new leader with a uni to uni. Uni to uni is a much easier knot to tie but it’s a thicker knot than the FG which makes it hit guides worse. I’ve never had issue with leader knot catching a guide. It’s mainly a noise thing for me which is why if I have time I’ll use FG. As for which line I’ve only ever used Power Pro Braid to either a fluorocarbon or mono leader. For mono I use Maxima Ultra Green. For fluoro I use either Sunline assassin or sniper. I use Assassin on my moving baits setups and use the leftover as my leader material.
  5. I picked up the Flash Mob Jr. and the only swimbait heads they even had there in the weight I wanted. Hard part was finding 5 similar looking swimbaits in different sizes.
  6. What is a decent swimbait head to throw on it? I’ll have to buy some centering pins for 2 of the wires since I’m only allowed 3 hooks. Any recommendations on swimbait heads?
  7. Ok right on. I was gonna go straight to the hog farmer but thought i might cry a bit if I lost a $30 bait haha
  8. This might not be just an East TN question. I’m just not entirely sure how far the company reaches. Never fished an A Rig in my life but Dixie Custom has some A-Rigs around $18 and I thought about trying one out. Curious if anyone on here has experience with them?
  9. Lighter than the 70? If so that’s crazy. And ya the higher drag and the bigger handle on the higher speed is what made me put it on my frog rod.
  10. I wound up with the 150 and didn’t even use it on my jig rod. I put it on my frog rod which does double as a big jig rod I suppose.
  11. I actually have a few of those still in the plastic. I’ll try them out
  12. I’ve had a few 6th sense swim jigs for awhile and just picked up a bunch of heads to make my own. One thing I noticed is the weed guards are much softer on all of them compared to my pitching and even some of my finesse jigs. Why is that? In my head it seems like you’d want them to be a bit stiffer if you’re throwing it around a bunch of cover.
  13. Swim Jig for me. I tried them a little bit in my more grassy lakes and nothing. That being said I’m gonna change that this year just bought some heads and skirts from ol Siebert. Gonna make some up and fish the crap out of them this year.
  14. Just picked up the Amistad a few days ago and man is it light. Let me ask though I noticed my guides weren’t perfectly in line. I don’t really care aesthetically and it’s not super off. The 2nd eyelet up the rod is about 5-10 degrees off to the left. Does it affect performance at all? If not I’m not going to worry about it for now since they have a good warranty I can use later.
  15. I’m gonna recommend Sunline Assassin. I love all the Sunline I’ve used but Assassin has a tad more stretch than Sniper so it’s what I use for cranking. That being said I like Seaguar Invisx a lot too. Assassin can be had for around $20 a spool on Amazon I believe and maybe even cheaper on EBay.
  16. This is exactly what I did for putted cork and even repaired splitting cork with it.
  17. Ya newer models are green the older ones were blue
  18. Newer or older model? Bass Pro has the new ones. Not on sale tho ?
  19. So heads like those only have 1 keeper and I hear about people using super glue to keep them on. How does that work? Wouldn’t that funk up the head?
  20. Was curious cause I was about to buy a few painted head and tie my own as well. New to swim jigs so just wanted to make sure the ones I was getting were decent. I have a few 6th sense as well and like them.
  21. What swim jigs are those?
  22. If it’s specifically the jig box you’re looking for I believe Amazon has them for around $20
  23. Ya I found one that was specifically for lifepo4 batteries and nothing else
  24. Through some more reason think it’s something like 1/10-1/5 of the rating of the battery. Like a 10ah battery needs a 1ah-2ah charger. I wound up buying a 12ah charger and went with a 1.5 ah charger. We’ll see how it goes.
