BFS? I Don't Get It
I’ll never understand why people are bothered by something they’re not into. It’s not hurting you. It’s not costing you. So who cares?

Spring Muddy water finesse baits?
Yeah I don’t have great luck with Ned from bank in rip rap. Lost more than some. I save my Ned rig for ponds or places I can get to that aren’t so rocky.

What are finesse jigs for?
The finesse also tends to imply it has a different style skirt. But I use finesse jigs to swim and deadstick as well as others so I like to focus more on the weight, color, style of head, and vertical or horizontal eye for tying. I kind of ignore if it’s “finesse” or not. If I don’t like a skirt I trim it.

Why is braid not sensitive on slack line?
My brain went limp. (Why you don’t read forums and post when you’re supposed to be working.)

Why is braid not sensitive on slack line?
Lol sorry, cause it’s NOT nylon. Is more cloth. Now it’s like chemical spectra and Dacron and stuff. Point is when it’s limp it doesn’t carry vibration. Like a trampoline if you don’t have it stretched. Mono is commonly nylon and the nylon transmits more from a looser state. To take it further, the braid absorbs more energy when it is limp. Absorbing more if the vibration. When it’s pulled tight, less of the vibration is absorbed. Polymers in mono do not absorb it well even when left limp.
-
Why is braid not sensitive on slack line?
Cause it’s made of nylon. Nylon doesn’t transmit vibration unless pulled tight. Mono is plastic and it doesn’t do it well but plastic still transmits better than “cloth” with less tension. Did you ever make a phone with cans and a string? Certain strings work better and they all carry better pulled tight.

Texas Freeze and Bass
I got a pretty good striper last week. Couple small large mouth this last weekend. Just at small local west Texas lake. Waters been dirtier than usual with all the wind. And of course the wind makes it slightly unpleasant to cast.

Zara spook line
I do straight braid for top water and I don’t get any more foul ups than with mono. It’s usually my cast that decides if it lands well or not, not the line used. Although it’s possible using mono allows you a better chance it lands well with a poor cast? But I haven’t really noticed. My suggestion is using a larger diameter braid and/or heavier top water lure. And/or practice casting. These affect the foul up rate for me more than anything else.

Swimbaits
For me it’s water clarity. The split tail doesn’t vibrate the water nearly as much. I get more bites on paddle tails by far in local dirty water. Swimming TRig or on jig. Even hopping some on retrieve. The split tail does much more for me in ponds or tanks that are clearer. Swimming slowly at different depths, but I can actually see it.

Somethings Should Just Be Private
I love people in stall next to you that do stuff with phone on speaker. Oh wait. No I don’t.

Kistler fans
My Trig setup is M with fast action. Baitcast 12lb Floro. I throw mostly 1/8 + weight of small worm right now. I can get 15-20 yard casts 45 degrees toward the wind if necessary. So depending on your reel you may have spool set too tight. But your rig sounds fine to me. Each their own.

Average Bass Tackle Length of Cast?
Oh we haven’t even gotten into line types and which goes further. Friction coming off the spool and all that. Still clearing up the misconception that there are 12 yards in a foot. I just did my backing eyeball to about a 3rd, but I don’t do it anymore. As someone above mentioned, filling it full you can then respool to another and start over. I do that.

Average Bass Tackle Length of Cast?
35? Try 15 lol. Most people don’t even realize how much energy it takes to throw to the sideline. Madden sure makes that field look small.

Warm weather but cold fishing
I have more luck with any variation of white than anything green pumpkin. Pearl, bone, clear, shadow, etc. All my water is dirty dirty dirty.
-
I love jig fishing.
It’s what I do with it. Also swim it. For me, it’s the most versatile. I don’t do much flipping/pitching. And very little punching from bank. I have a couple of the true swim jigs as well but I just like arkies.

Average Bass Tackle Length of Cast?
Lol I love this pic. Cause that is really stinkin far. Like I said, maybe with the wind at my back... Of course, I also enjoyed picturing someone trying to set a hook at 50 yards.

Weighing tackle and equipment
Dude but that’s helpful on the lighter rigs. It’s so hard to pick a trailer wisely to go with super light line. I’ve had breaks that I know were because I just got too much weight with hook and trailer. Lol thanks for being bored.

TRig Issues
UPDATE: THE SEARCH IS OVER (cue the Survivor song) I finally caught something on a Trig. Zoom 5” superfluke that I was swimming along just cause I caught a good size striper on a little Creme swim bait from Walmart. So I figured I’d be open minded and try something unusual for me. Funny thing: I was casting into the wind and had a minor backlash. When I worked it out and started reeling something was pulling back. A 1.5lb Largemouth...but finally. Success.

I love jig fishing.
I quit using football heads cause everyone said they are great for rocks...and I lost all 3. In rocks. I use arkie style only now and have better luck working it loose from everything. But I love jigs. Just not football.

Bang vs megastrike
Just don’t spray into the wind...

Realistic expectations?
Winter fishing is about being outside when weathers nicer. Hanging with my kids. Catching a fish is just gravy. Catching 2 is heaven.

Average Bass Tackle Length of Cast?
When I use backing I do half the spool based on top diameter of line. So probably about 60-70 yards like said above. My longest casts are maybe 50 yards of wind is at my back. Less with bait caster. You mostly just don’t want your knot coming up. In my experience most people’s casting distances are even more inflated than the monster that got away!

Favorite jig retrieves during pre spawn
I agree, although around me some waters warm fast. If the water is shockingly cold to my hand I go slow drag. Maybe gently lift rod in between, but I think you’re right that the craws are barely moving. If the water feels cool to me I’ll hop and jerk and pause. ?♂️ Seems to work.

Overfishing
Yeah not sure what that’s about. I weigh any fish that looks 2lb or more to me. Guess I’m the problem. I think he’s mostly talking to the attitude of “new” anglers with time and money but not much else. I have no problem working for fish. It’s called fishing. I think he’s speaking more to it being harder due to increased noise, behavior, lack of decency, etc.

Freakish accident...College Angler Dies in Boating Accident During Night Tournament.
What the heck does that mean?!
