  1. Nice fish and Welcome to the site. ;D
  2. At least you got out and had a good time trying. I am from Pa and the fishing has been real tough here too. I broke some ice off a local pond the other day and tried for some myself but all I managed to catch was a cold. ;D (Just my luck) It will be a high of 29* today Woohoo! I may just head back out there again. Let us know how you do next time with the jerkbaits. I have heard good things about using them in cold water. Good luck.
  3. Great post and fish. ;D I am glad to see someone is catching them.
  4. That's great news. Congrats
  5. That is FAR from measly. That is a nice fish. Congrats
  6. Welcome to the forum! ;D I hear you on the cabin fever thing. It's real cold and windy here too. I actually resorted to breaking the ice off a pond this morning in order to do some fishing. Unfortunately there was no fish around, just me standing in the cold and the wind. I did not stay very long. Yep it was pretty pathetic. I think I am gonna take roadwarriors advice and move south. ;D
  7. Welcome Crab. Nice to see you here. ;D
  8. . . . and the mothers, grandmothers, sisters, aunts, etc. I was thinking that too. ;D
  9. I have not caught all of the types of fish in the poll but so far the smallmouth has been the biggest fighter for me. ( and the most addicting too) ;D
  10. I have so many fishing pics, here are a few from this past year. This first one is my fishing partner, my youngest daughter Maddi and we call her the "fish kisser" ;D Here she is again doing what she does best Lets just say you have to get on the water somehow when you don't have a boat My daughter again one day when we were wading at the river. I think she decided to try spearfishing. ;D
  11. Those family fishing days are the best. Congrats. ;D
  12. Great fish, and pics
  13. Holy cow! I just checked out that lake online and it looks like an awesome lake.
  14. Avid - No power plant lakes around me. There is one power plant next to the river and it is fenced in and posted. HOwever you can park up the road a LONG WAYS and hike down along the river bank. (Do not ask me know this) Bassectomy - I have heard awesome things about those sinking shads. I have not tried them yet but I will let you know how I do. I can tell you I told ALOT of them at the show so they must work pretty well. As for Cb's sauce I use it all the time. I have used it since I started fishing and it works great. He just came out with a new scent too. It is a shad scent I got a few bottles of it at the show too. Munkin - All of the minnows shown were Basstrix. I am not sure where you can get them. I got them at the show and I have some others that a guy in California sent for me to try a few months ago.
  15. ;D ;D ;D Welcome to the club! In my younger years I had a saying: FISH ON THE BRAIN ALL DAY ALL NIGHT,IN THE MIDDLE OF S_X IN THE MIDDLE OF A FIGHT, DREAMING EVERY SECOND OF THAT LINE STRIPPING BITE! Things have changed a lot since then......... I no longer fight! :-/ ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D
  16. I remembered what you were telling me. That is why I bought them. Thanks for the help.
  17. Avid I have been practicing with a baitcaster but I don't think I am ready yet. I am not givin up yet though. Thanks guys. I was so excited to get home and use my new stuff and I returned home to snow and ice. Now I am really going crazy. I am so desperate to try my new rods and stuff that I may just have to fill up the tub and play around. I cannot wait to fish with my new rods. Also to try Carolina riggin. Should be fun. ;D
  18. I wanted to but had no time. Worked the show all weekend and then ended up having to beat an ice storm on the way home which left me leaving much earlier than I expected. I was so jealous, you guys have all that open water down there. Everything is frozen up here. > I want to try to go down there again maybe this summer, just to fish this time though. Popeye- I am thinking the same thing about spring too. :'(
  19. I am so excited, I got some new toys! This weekend I was in Va. at the sportsman show and I picked up some new toys while I was there. I was hoping that when I returned home I could use some of my new toys but I returned home to ice and snow. > First thing I picked up was a few of my favorite things: Then I got me some new toys to try: Last but not least I got 2 new custom rods that I cannot wait to try. First one I got was a 7 foot rod for Carolina riggin. I have not tried this yet but plan to this summer. The second one that I got was a 6'9" Finesse Rod. My new rods: This is the guy that I got my new rods from and made me such a happy girl. It was an awesome weekend and I cannot wait until the next show. Then when I got home there was a little something in my mailbox too. It is a cradle weight made just for swimbaits. I don't really fish swimbaits alot but I will have to plan on using them a little more this summer. New cradle weight
  20. I also use Cb's Hawg sauce. I just bought 6 more bottles at the Va show.
  21. You think that's bad, try being a woman who only wants to fish. I ALWAYS keep a rod in my car and a tacklebox in my trunk, just in case. Often times I am late getting where I am supposed to be just because the water was calling my name when I was driving by. ;D Nice to know I am not alone in feeling like that.
  22. Thanks for stopping by at the show. It was great to meet you both and Tpayneful your son is adorable. ;D
  23. That is awesome. Congrats
