  1. Thanks guys. I am new to fishing the river for smallies. I took my first trip with a river guide in August to learn how to fish the river. I was having a very difficult time learning how to fish the current and let me tell you it was the best thing I ever did. It was also loads of fun and we caught lots of fish. Beteween the 3 of us we managed 113 fish. It was awesome and also the first time that I have ever caught a smallmouth. Now I am hopelessly addicted. What a fight they put up. I am from Pennsylvania. The piece of paper is just for a little fishing contest that I am in. The spot that I found today was very cool but has water comming in from different directions. I actually fished a creek down until it ran into the river and the water was deep in spots also the currant was strong. To be honest I was confused as to where to start really. I was actually on an old railroad pier that I had waded out to climb onto to fish. It had water comming from all angles. I was way out of my element here. I hope to get back again soon. I am not accustomed to the deep water and strong current yet and with water comming in from all sides I was not sure what was the best spot to shoot for. I did pretty well today though. Looking forward to going back.
  2. That thing is huge and scary and I think you should be very careful fishing anyplace close to that.
  3. Today I found a new spot. It was a great spot. I started out making my way down some creek that was so low I think it was only about 5 inches all the way across. So I decided to keep right on walkin until I found a nice pool of water and figured the fish must be held up in there. I was right I think I pulled one out every cast for at least 4 casts in a row. It was a blast and then Matt and I got a double header. and they were both nice fish. MINE WAS BIGGER! We continued down the creek until finally it dumped out into the river and saw a great spot to perch myself at. Finally I made it over there and the currant was strong and the water was quite a bit deeper. I then decided I was just gonna lean over a little bit and drop my magic stik straight down in the water, which by the way Matt thought was quite funny that is until I had a hit and it started taking my drag right away. BAM! It was a nice smallie.. [img width=262 height=350]http://i205.photobucket.com/albums/bb145/matstone7/NewspotSepta.jpg Well after that I continued to stand in that spot and just drop my line off the side for a little while and managed to catch a few more fish. It was a blast! Here are a few more pics: [img width=262 height=350]http://i205.photobucket.com/albums/bb145/matstone7/newspote.jpg [img width=262 height=350]http://i205.photobucket.com/albums/bb145/matstone7/newspotseptc.jpg [img width=262 height=350]http://i205.photobucket.com/albums/bb145/matstone7/newspotseptb.jpg I am not sure how many fish we caught today but it was quite a few of them. We did not have that long to fish but turns out we did not need alot of time to catch alot of fish. The temps were considerably cooler today.. When we first arrived at the creek to start out the day it was raining just a little. I am not sure what baits matt was using but as usual I was using the magic stiks and the hawg sauce.
  4. ;D Nice fish, I guess I will have to get me one of those shirts.

Awwww!! I am jealous. I think I want another one of those. Congrats to you..
  9. Nice fish and great pics. Love the snake.
  10. Congratulations, and a great report.
  11. Awesome catch! Congrats
  12. I never keep any fish but hold nothing against anyone that keeps them to eat. Some of the ponds and lakes that I fish I often find large pickerel and other types of fish just tossed up on shore and that is what bothers me.

    Congratulations!
  14. Well I did see one that was pretty funny on the boardwalk one time. It had an arrow pointing down and then on top of that it said "It don't lick itself". I did not purchase this shirt though. Thought about it but would not have had the nads to wear it.
  15. Well Triton21 all I can say is that I wish you the best of luck. Kidney stones suck! I had kidneystones myself. I was hospitalized for 4 days before they finally did surgery. I have also had 2 children and I can tell you that I would rather have given birth again than have kidneystones. I am not too bad when it comes to pain but kidneystones are the worst. I was rollin around on the floor waiting patiently to rip off anyone's head that came by me. It was terrible. Good luck and drink lots of water.
  16. You can find the complete collection of the Parasite products here. Bass pro does not carry everything I think. http://parasiteweights.com/ Good luck
  17. I just checked out the link that bass pro has to the parasite clip and I noticed that they are using a clip which is supposed to be for weightless fishing, and adding a weight to it. I think that this defeats the point of using just the clip. The clip is used just for weightless applications and the parasite weight itself has a loop already attached to it which is what you would use in a pegged weight application. It appears in the photo as if it is not rigged correctly as well. Perhaps I should contact someone and let them know.
  18. I love catching pickerel. Nice fish. ;D
  19. I use the parasite weights all the time when fishing a weight and when I am fishing weightless I use just the parasite clips. They save me alot on plastics. They keep my plastics from sliding down the hook. They work very well when I am fishing heavy cover, lilypads or something like that. I do not have to stop and fix my bait all the time which is a plus for me. (More time fishing) ;D I am not sure if I can post a link or not to you but I can describe how they work to you. Or at the very least try to.. ;D The first pic I have are the weights and clips. Weights are available fro m1/8 to 1 ounce and they also come in tungsten. I usually use the 1/8 lead weight. I first thread my weight on prior to applying my hook and then I start my texas rig. I then run the loop of the parasite weight on the hook and finish my texas rig. The clip is rigged the same way as well. The minute that you have tension on the line the weights peg themselves. Here are a few of my pics. Here is a brush puppy with a texas rig started and the clip added. This is how it looks fully set up. This is a clip that is rigged. This is what I use when I fish weightless. I hope this helps to explain them a little.
  20. Great pics guys. Here are a few of one of my daughters and I. Her bass Sunfish Her first trout
  21. Thanks everyone. T-rig- I don't have a boat, wish I did once in a while though. I caught both those fish from shore. I usually am wading which is why I am wearing a swimsuit in the smallmouth pic. I don't have waders yet but hope to before winter comes otherwise it will be a little chilly in the water. ;D FivePoundBluegill - You are right about the first two pics they are dark. It is because they were taken from my husbands camera phone. One of my daughters had my camera that day. I believe that the fish was about 9 or 10 pounds you are correct. I did not have a scale so my husband measured it. It was 25.5 inches long and had a girth of approx. 18 inches. Guess we will never know how much it actually weighted but I really don't care. It was just very cool to catch it and release it. Here is a pic of me sending that fish back hopefully maybe someday my daughter will catch him too. That would be even better than me catching that fish in the first place.
  22. This is my biggest LMB so far. This is my biggest smallmouth.
  23. I do not have alot of tackle but here are a few pics of what I do have I could always use some more.. ;D
