Curado Jig/Worm Reel Whats Best???
I am going to be buying a Curado reel tomorrow. It will be used 99% of the time with my Jig/Worm setup (7' H Fast Action Avid). Will be fishing CRIG, Texas and Jigs. I am very confused on whats more important. The gear ratio, weight of the reel, or the bearings. I am probably reading to much into this but I want to buy the best possible reel this particular setup. I also know that things start getting heavy after a long day on the water so I am trying to reduce my weight if it won't hinder my casting capabilities/getting the bait in quickly capabilities.

Did you atleast take back your property that was stolen from you?

TV Fishing Shows
I have a question. Everytime Bill Dance hooks into a fish it seems like he continuing his conversation from before the cast. Does he just say the same things over and over each cast until he catches one? If so this would drive me nuts.

Close encounters of the scary kind
Thats one way to keep your honey hole all to yourself. Reminds me of a time when I visited Orlando and rented some fishing equipment to fish one of the small lakes on the property we were staying at. I was minding my own business and I look to my left an there is a gator no more than 20 feet swimming in my general direction. I was so scared (I was like 12) I just dropped the pole and ran. Had to have my father return the gear.

Wacky Rigged Senko Help?
If you like the wacky setup I would recommend you go to your local hardware store and pick up some heat shrink tubing. 1/4" is the size I believe I use. This way the senko won't get destroyed as fast. You can find this in the electrical section. Just cut a small piece of the tubing. Make sure you put it in the center of the worm and heat it up with a lighter. Just put the hook right underneath where the tube is. I haven't not had any problems with hook ups using the tubing either. Edit: I didn't see the part in your post about the o rings. The tubing is an alternative to that.

Changing Hooks
I am trying to change out some hooks on some of my cranks and I wondering if there is an easy way to do this. If this topic has been brought up recently I apologize. I ran a search and couldn't find what I was looking for. Thanks, Jason

Whats the best Catfish Bait?
I haven't fished for catfish in a couple years but when I use to atleast twice a week I would always use a middle sized bluegill head. Just cut its head off right past the gills. The best part about this bait is it will last forever. I never had a catfish actually make the head fall off. Just put the hook through the bluegill's eye sockets and the skull should keep it from going anywhere.

fishing spots
Bleise, this topic might be better in the Central Location forum. And sorry but I can't answer your question because I don't have a boat and if I do get on one I am going for largemouth. Either way, welcome to the forum.

Your Worst Fishing Injury
Not sure if you call this an injury or not but seemed like a near death experience at the time. I was 15 fishing the white river in northern Arkansas for trout. I decided to venture down the river a little ways by myself (1 maybe 1.5 miles). It was around 25 degrees outside and I didn't here the siren to let me know the dam was opening up. I noticed the water rising and headed to the shore but I didn't make in time and the water went above my waders. I had to hike back the mile to get to our car. All I can remember is not being able to control my body movements in the car ride to our cabin. I saw a picture of my and I looked like casper the ghost with the deepest purple/blue lips Ive ever seen anyone. It was worse than the alive fisherman they pull out of the Bering Sea from "The Deadliest Catch" Well not really, those guys are nuts and have my respect.

livewells
Triton21 gave me this idea. I have not done it yet because I have been really busy but if it rains and I can't get on the water this weekend I am going to try to make one of these one saturday. I copy and pasted Triton's exact post below. Hope this helps. "Jaskoh, get a cooler, as big as you can haul in your trunk, a bilge pump, hose to fit it, and a piece of pvc pipe and cap, cap one end, put the hose on the other, and 12 volt battery. take a hack saw and cut small slits or a drill and drill holes all on the same side of the pipe, mount the pipe above the water line with the holes down. You can buy a kit from Bass Pro to do this if you don't want to do the leg work to collect the parts.(cooler livewell kit) If you don't want to get an extra 12 volt Battery you can run a long wire with a cigerette lighter from the trunk through your window to the lighter plug in your car. A 48 qt cooler should keep 15 to 20 10in bass alive for that 35 mile trip. This also works as a livewell for a boat that doesn't have one. Will also keep bait alive. Kelley"

Ike - Opinion update
I just got done reading his book "Fishing On The Edge" yesterday. I am a younger angler (24 in a month) and I found the book very entertaining. In my oppinion he is 75% being himself on the water 25% trying to get attention to promote himself/fishing (in his own weird way). He feels that if pro anglers showed a little bit more character on the water/interviews it would help get other big companies into the industry like Nike. What I can respect about Mike is that he just doesn't care about other people's opinions. But if he honestly felt that his behavior was hurting the sport he would stop immediatly. I personally like the guy for being himself and just brushing off the comments or looks he gets from people who don't like him. He doesn't really care that people dislike him and he doesn't even get offended that much by it. I wouldn't do 99% of the things he does on the water but I also have no problem with what he does (as long as it doesn't affect other anglers in a bad way). If you don't hate the guy already or atleast have an open mind about him I recommend the book. You will not learn anything about fishing but you will learn a little about the life of a pro angler through the eyes of Ike.

Organizing Cranks
I am looking at all my cranks that I have bought over the years and most of them I have no idea what depth range they are suppose to run at. Does anyone have any tricks that helps you remember or mark the lures depth range? I know you can generally tell if a lure is a deep, mid, or shallow diving by looking at it but I am trying to be a little bit more specific.

Lake Management
Well I just got back from my girlfriend's parent's lake and I caught about 10-12 small bass ranging from 10 inch - 14 inches but most of them were closer to 10 inch mark. My girlfriends dad caught a lot of small crappie as well. I saw multiple problems with the lake and I will list them below. I was just curious what order you would fix the problems. None of the fish looked sickly ill, just small. 1. Leaking Dam 2. Weed/Algae problem in some areas of the lake 3. All the fish were pretty much dinks that I caught/saw 4. Didn't see any signs of any type of minnows living in the lake/pond. Thanks for the help in advance. Jason

New PB for Me!!!
Bankbeater, congrats on the personal bests! If this is indeed a Busch Wildlife bass that gets me really excited. I try to get up there atleast once a week maybe two times. I havent caught anything over 1.5 pounds. I don't recognize the lake so you won't be seeing any extra pressure from me unless I happen to be there by accident ;D Either way, good bass!

Best way to kill a fish?
Triton, I am definetly going to do that. I will just make it myself. Do you know what OD (outer diameter) the pvc pipe should be? Or does it not matter. Thanks again for all the help, Jason

Best way to kill a fish?
It is about a 35 minute drive. The only problem is I do not own a truck. I really do need to figure out a way to get some bass in my subdivision lake because I can catch a 3-4 inch bluegill every cast. They are really overpopulated in there too but I dont care about that. How many bass do you think I can put in each 5 gallon bucket safely?

Best way to kill a fish?
Ken, to my knowledge it has been fished only a handfull of times in the past 5 years. When her grandpa died (who built the lake) he was the only one that ever fished it. I guess I will try to get out there a couple times in June to see whats going on. Jason

Best way to kill a fish?
BK, My bass look like they are healthy but only 10 inches long. Yours is actually sick looking. Is it a possibility that there are healthier, bigger, fish in my girlfriends lake but I just havent seen or caught any yet? Ive only fished it once. Jason

Best way to kill a fish?
Ok, I have a similiar question. My girlfriend's lake is so over populated that I caught 25 bass all in the 10 inch range in about 30 minutes. I am looking for a humane way to get rid of these bass. I would really like to transport a lot of them to in my subdivision lake that has nothing but very very small bluegill in it. But I have no way of doing this. What is the best humane way to control populations of bass? They are t0 small for eating even. I strongly believe in catch and release but I feel that this lake is so over populated it might be unhealthy for the entire fishery. Any ideas???

Humminbird Smartcast RF35
I fish a lot out of a row boat that I hook up my trolling motor to. There are a couple of lakes I am very interested in learning the depths of. Has anyone used this and does anyone know if this system will show structure like a tree or weeds on the display? I looked at there website and I don't think it can. I am just seeing if anyone had any bad experiences with it so I can save 100 dollars. Edit: If anyone has any other suggestions for a depth finder that can be used on Row boats that you rent I would appreciate it. I am looking at spending no more than 150 bucks. Thanks, Jason

When fishing alone?
I just got back into fishing this year and Ive fished a lone everytime but the las two trips. I took a highshool buddy and a co-worker. They just weren't in it as much as I was. On the other hand I think if I was with someone who knew what they were doing and we were on the same page and fishing the same speed it would be a lot of fun. Jason
