Reel bearings?
I have a 2017 Tatula SV that has been rough for the past year or so. I’ve taken it apart and relubed it a couple of times, even soaked the bearings in acetone and reoiled them. It’s still rough, especially under load. I’m suspecting a bearing is bad in it somewhere. It used to be one of my smoothest reels and I loved that thing. I might just go ahead and replace the bearings in it. Any recommendations for what bearings I should put in it? Thank you

Looking for recommendations
The regular Tatula has an “SVF” blank and Fuji Fazlite guides with a cork handle. the Tatula Elite has an “SVF Nanoplus” blank which I assume is a little better, alconite guides which are better, and an EVA foam handle on most models. Daiwa also has an AGS version of Tatula Elite rods which are the Elite blanks but with carbon fiber guides. They make the rods lighter, more sensitive and more balanced. Can feel a fish fart with those things. imo the regular Tatula rods are already outstanding as is, so if you want to save a bit and get the regular one, you aren’t missing anything major. All great rods

I’ve found that you don’t need to spend an arm and a leg for a good spinning reel. Daiwa makes great spinning reels for 40-50 bucks and up. I’ve owned a Regal that has been beat to death and stayed butter smooth. I took it fishing off the coast of Florida and caught a bunch of Pompano with it before the sand and salt finally killed it. Was 50 bucks and gave me 3-4 good years of fishing. Also liked my Exceler and Pflueger President reels. With that being said, I’d get a 50-100 dollar Daiwa reel, really no wrong answer with their spinning reels, and pair it with a 150-200 dollar rod. Plenty of excellent sticks in that price range. A few that come to mind are Dobyns Champion XP Daiwa Tatula/Tatula Elite Shimano Zodias Megabass Levante St. Croix Victory one of those paired with a 3000 size reel would be great

Talk me out of a Steez
Just ordered the 2024 Steez CT in 8.5:1 on Amazon. Was gonna have to wait til September 4th but I paid extra to get it this Saturday lol. Probably gonna put it on my DRX755c for Texas rigs and jigs. Cant wait!

Talk me out of a Steez
Well my paycheck was bigger than I thought, and I stumbled across the 2024 Steez for a little over 400. Anyone have that reel? I’ll probably get that or the A2 and then maybe an alphas or a zillion as well

Daiwa Crossfire LT
I’ve never had a crossfire but the cheaper Daiwa spinning reels are great overall. I’ve beat my Regal to death and it’s been silky smooth.

Talk me out of a Steez
The bait monkey has gotten ahold of me again. I went a good while without buying any new rods or reels while saving up for an engagement ring (she said yes lol). I also sold off a lot of my reels in the process, which has left me reel poor. I got 5 more casting rods than reels and 1 more spinning rod than reels. I’m currently jumping back into refilling my reels. I was fine where I was at but for some reason I think I got a curse on me. I have yet to catch a 3+ pound bass this year and I think it’s because the fish don’t like the fact that I am not dumping hundreds of dollars into my hobby. I picked up a Penn Battle 3 combo a couple weeks ago for big game, and the other day I found a Kage LT at Scheels on sale for 170 which fixes my spinning rod dilemma. as far as my casting rods, I’m about to pull the trigger on a Steez A2 because I’ve always wanted one, but I also am considering getting 2 Alphas SVs because I love them and it would accelerate the process of evening out my rods and reels. But the Steez looks so enticing lol. what would yall do in this situation? Thanks!

Orochi XX Shakyhead & Expride B 7'M
No experience with the MB but I have the 7’M Expride B. It’s a great stick. Wacky rigs, Keitechs, and tubes are right in its wheelhouse. I throw a lot of neds on mine as well. It is too stiff for dropshots in my opinion. Probably would want a ML rod for that. Also Shimano’s warranty may be only a year, but they have a lifetime replacement policy. If you snap your shimano or something, you can get a new one for half off and they pay the return label to ship your rod back. Their warranty/customer service is very good. I’ve replaced a couple of rods including my 7’M Expride this way

What line should I be using for my UL setup?
Ive used 4# PLine FC and it’s been great

All purpose BC reel - Lews Speed Spool LFS or 24 Tatula 100?
I haven’t used the 24 model tatula but the previous generation models are good. The LFS is a good reel too. Can’t go wrong with either. I’m a Daiwa guy so I would say the tatula. But YMMV. Any reel made by Lews, Daiwa or Shimano over 100 bucks are good. i will say, if you want the best deal, you can get a Daiwa Alphas SV from Japan for around 150 bucks. A 7 speed one of those would be a great all round reel, and rival the best reels on the market

Looking for ultimate flipping setup
I have a Tatula Elite AGS 7’6” flipping stick (the old gen). It’s very well balanced. AGS guides really help balance a rod. Currently doesn’t have a designated reel but I’m planning on getting a JDM Zillion HD with the long handle. A long handle reel is helpful for cranking them out. Line capacity doesn’t really matter with flipping too much either

What Rods are staples for you Kayak
I always take 3, been meaning to add a bucket behind the seat with rod holders for more. I guess I’m kind of worried about capsizing and losing 5 or 6 rods instead of 3 lol. On Texoma I usually take a combo of: 7’3” MH Poison Adrena/7’3” HXF LTB/DRX755 (all round/bottom contact depending on the cover/area I’m fishing) Always my 7’2” MHM LTB for cranks and such Always my 6’10” MLXF LTB for finesse stuff and small swimbaits Sometimes I’ll swap a rod out for my 6’6” LF Premier if I wanna chuck a white rooster tail and have fun catching loads of little white bass and striper. Really need to modify my yak to hold a couple more so I don’t have to compromise

Budget Bang for Buck Rods and Reels (spinning and baitcaster)
The Aird-X is a great rod, if you can find a deal on a Tatula they are great as well. I got mine for 70 bucks a while back. as for reels, the Daiwa Regal and Pflueger President are good choices. Daiwa and Pflueger dominate in the budget range. Shimanos get really good too when you approach about 75-100 bucks. the Lews LFS is my favorite budget bait caster, the Fuego and SLX are good as well

Wanting new reels for my UL/L setups
Sounds like Stradics or Vanford 1000 sizes are the way to go. Thanks y’all. Gonna have matching combos lol
-
Is the Zillion and the Alphas the best bang per buck reels we've ever seen in fishing?
Yes, 2 of the top 10 bass reels you can get, for the price of a mid level reel. Insane how worth it they are

Wanting new reels for my UL/L setups
I currently have a pair of St Croix Premiers (6ft UL and a 2 piece 6’6” L). The UL has a 1000 size Nasci FB and the L has a 2000 size Regal LT. Both reels have seen a good few years of use and I’m looking to upgrade to a pair of Miravels or Stradics. What reel do you think would work best on these rods? Both rods will likely have 6lb Suffix Copoly line on them. Maybe 4 on the UL. These are mainly rods for sand bass, crappie, panfish, and the occasional Ned rig on the light rod. Thanks!

Dobyn’s fury
Solid rods, one of the best options in that price range

If you could only have 1 crankbait for smallmouth!
6th sense Crush 50x all the way

DC 735CB Glass vs DC736CB Glass
Lighter cover the 735 would work great. personally my favorite chatterbait rod is the DC734c. I like a faster rod for chatterbaits. It’s a jig hook so I need a beefy hookset. But a lot of people like both the 735cb and 736cb glass for chatterbaits.

Rods and reels in car
In the car should be fine, only thing to worry about is your line like Scott said. in the truck bed is another story. I’ve kept rods in there for a couple of days, and not surprisingly a couple of them snapped when they shouldn’t have.
-
DRX 754C SH
I have a DRX755 SH that I use for Texas rigs around cover. Excellent rod, and Texas rigs are a technique you want to shell out the money for. Feeling the bottom and feeling bites are paramount. there aren’t many rods out there that transmit vibrations like an Xtasy. Lighter cover like light grass or laydowns the 754 would be perfect, however if you are fishing heavier cover (thick mats and grass) a 755 would be better at horsing fish out of it.

Dobyns Kaden 744C, 743C, and Similar
Dang lol yeah you just send them the logo section of the rod and 60 bucks, and wait for the new rod to come in. Hasn’t been trash day already has it? 😂
-
Only 2 casting rods
I live in Texas so not very “north” but I’d have 2 rods: Shimano Poison Adrena 7’3” MHRF Dobyns DRX755c 3rd rod I’d throw in my Dobyns DX743c for the lighter stuff. I guess if I lived up north the 755 would be my 3rd option, kinda need it down here lol

Dobyns Kaden 744C, 743C, and Similar
3/8-1/2oz chatterbaits and 3/8-1/2oz spinnerbaits with a trailer are gonna be great on that rod. As are lipless cranks in that 3/8-3/4oz range. That rod will work great for 80% of things bass fishing including Texas rigs. Also you could trade that broken Sierra into Dobyns and get a 735 Sierra or 745 Kaden for if you wanna get into the grass
