  1. Next time PayPal Pay-in-4 it. All the JDM tackle sites seem to accept PayPal and it'll distribute the "pain" a little more evenly.
  2. Have yet to hear a thing.
  3. I have a warranty claim I submitted on Tuesday. I'll post how it goes in this thread. I will say, I don't think I'll be buying anymore St. Croix rods.
  4. You DMed me about this and I haven't owned one yet. I took one of my heavy Legend Treks to Florida in July and a 4 foot barracuda snapped it. I haven't had a chance to call St. Croix about warranty yet but since the Legend Treks are disco'ed, I imagine they'll send me an Avid as recompense. Fortunately, I bought it on clearance at about half price so, I won't really be short changed.
  5. Spend an extra $20 and get this. https://www.tomostackle.com/penn-battle-iii-dx-spinning-reels/ I have one and it has treated me well.
  6. The Luvias is very smooth but it has higher startup inertia. I'd get a Kage LT (not the MQ) myself unless I planned on using it in the salt.
  7. I have 3 Arditos and love em. This might suit your needs better, though. M or MH depending upon the situation. https://toadfish.com/products/stowaway-travel-rods?variant=34441704997000&currency=USD&utm_medium=product_sync&utm_source=google&utm_content=sag_organic&utm_campaign=sag_organic&utm_campaign=gs-2022-06-08&utm_source=google&utm_medium=smart_campaign&gclid=CjwKCAjw9NeXBhAMEiwAbaY4lqNu0p_vD2T3ogosf1ziPkM-zxuU3bwgCZqWEyxpJ-O3UGPTTonVxBoCFqUQAvD_BwE
  8. This is why I'm not a bass angler. I'm a multi-species angler. If I catch bass? Great! If I catch anything else, from bluegill to marlin, I'm equally happy.
  9. Daiwa Ardito 7'6 ML XF $129. Sometimes on sale for less
  10. If you can find a Kage LT (the black with the cork handle, not the red and black MQ reel), that's the route I'd take. That's the route I DID take.
  11. Yeah, almost bought the rocket low pro when Amazon had em for $169. Glad I held out for the new gen. The Winch looks good too at the other end of the retrieve ratio spectrum.
  12. The new Abu Revo spinning reels look interesting. Definitely a take on the MQ frame from Daiwa but sub $200. Hmm...
  13. Here ya go. https://toadfish.com/collections/spinning-rods/products/inshore-spinning-fishing-rods?variant=13039512879215 The 1 piece version of what I bought.
  14. Okay, so, I bought the rod I recommended for you last time around. At roughly the same time, I *also* bought this one (darn bait monkey) https://toadfish.com/collections/spinning-rods/products/toadfish-inshore-2-piece-fishing-rods (The 7'2 2 piece M XF) Even though the 13 Fishing rod I posted last time is rated ML and this one is rated M, the Toadfish is the lighter rod & with my week or two with both, the Toadfish linked above is more sensitive. I'm happy with both so far.
  15. The Daiwa Ardito 7'6 MH can throw 2oz just fine. I've done it with mine. Heck, I've thrown 4oz with bait to no ill effect.
  16. This guy does some pretty good content
  17. I strongly recommend kastmaster & dardevle spoons for a beginner. You'll catch fish on em.
  18. Nice score on those Excelers. They're a lot of reel for the $$. Let us know what you think!
  19. Round reels just have a certain panache that you don't get with a low pro. I have yet to mess with BFS, but if I ever do, it will likely be a Conquest, despite my distaste for Shimano as a company.
  20. Better comparison is the Shimano Twinpower SW (also rated IPX 8 ) and the Certate SW.
  21. The guy is universally well reviewed on Google and Fishingbooker. That's the main reason I'm sticking with it. Any other time I've booked a charter, they've been typically more responsive than this.
