  1. Been there except I actually walked right into my door and broke the tip off my fury. Dobyns sent me a new one for like half price.
  2. Never had an issue with either. I have always preferred and still own more Shimanos because of the value on the SLX MGL. Then one day got a Zillion and it changed me. I want more and with the new tatula coming out I want that. I'm ready to change all my casters to Daiwa. As for spinning reels ill never not use a Vanford.
  3. Biggest factor is honestly price. Paying $25 for some flouro line just isnt something I like doing. Unless its jerkbaits.. I am specific on what I use there which is Daiwa Samurai. I use Yo Zuri Hybrid, KK flourokote, and P-line Floroclear. All haver worked great. Yo Zuri prices are insanely cheap and I can get a 600 yard spool for 8 bucks. Only downside is the diameter is bigger. So a 10lb is actually 12lb and so on. Os just have to look out for that. To me the KK Florote and P-line Floroclear cast better than the Yo Zuri.
  4. Love the fact that there is so many 2-piece options being given. Big fan of the recent stuff Croix has put out (especially Physyx) so I look forward to this.
  5. Gary has never lead anyone astray. I trust him and look forward to the future of my favorite rod company.
  6. This is exactly why I sold my baitcasting model. The real seet was so bad and never felt tight enough. The spinning version I really really like though.
  7. Social Media. For the first time ever people are making bass fishing and fishing in general look fun.
  8. Would be nice. I want to see the pros be pros and use the skills they have learned throughout the years. Show us what truly separates you from the regular joe. I get that FFS takes time to learn but it just doesn't feel the same. All major sports have more restrictions as you get better and get into the pro leagues. NBA three point line and shot clock, MLB wooden bats, NASCAR engine restrictions, NFL has completely different rules in some aspects, etc etc. I dont get why professional bass fishing is doing the opposite. Other than the pay in of course.
  9. You are right. Personally I don't care for FFS at all but I 100% tuned in to watch Milliken. Guys got charisma and the fact that he came out swinging is just awesome.
  10. I think he has valid concerns about the direction of the sport. When the most memorable moment from this tourney was Milliken eating quail eggs I think there is a problem.
  11. The reel seat looks like its that smooth shiny plastic. Any issues with grip?
  12. Interested to see how you like the Hangover. Personally I thought it was one of the worst swimbaits I have ever used and will probably junk it. Make sure to give it a good whiff as well.
  13. I got the 690 and have thrown small cranks, jerkbaits and ned rigs. All have worked great. Never felt overpowered or that I couldn't stick a hook in em. Love the rod. The softer tip allows me to sling these little baits pretty dang far.
  14. I have many Googan rods and have had them for years. I keep two 2 piece Googan rods with me at all times and the only issue I have ever had was closing one in a door. CatchCo replaced it for free. Fantastic CS all around. I have like 10 now I think ranging from the Green, Gold, and Black series. The green is a good affordable rod especially at the current sale.
  15. Just wanted to add for future readers.. I ended up selling both of my Trigon rods due to the poor real seat. Beautiful rod, love the trigon grip on the spinning rod. Trigon grip on the casting rod made no difference to me as its too low. The plastic real seat is complete garbage though and will unscrew itself with ease on the casting rods in my experience and doesn't feel like it gets tight enough. It really feels like they cheaped out hard on that.
  16. Just wanted to add for future readers.. I ended up selling both of my Trigon rods due to the poor real seat. Maybe I should have called St Croix first but not really sure what they would have done about it and I wasn't going to spend money to ship a rod to them. Beautiful rod, love the trigon grip on the spinning rod. Trigon grip on the casting rod made no difference to me as its too low. The real seat is complete garbage though. Interested to hear if OP actually did call them and what they did or said.
  17. Tested the Ichikawa Rick Clunn Kamikari lightwire #8 and so far so good. I'll need to try again tomorrow with more sun light but from what I could see the action looked the same and they stayed suspended and didnt sink.
  18. Came across those Ichikawa light wires yesterday and bought some from Omnia. I'll test these when they get here and try the others as well. Seems pretty difficult to find actual light wire treble hooks in size 8.
  19. I will give these a shot. Looks like only Janns netcraft even has them. Been having a blast with the Vision jr and just wanna continue to do so. Weird they don't just sell the hooks. Cant even find the G-Finesse in size 8.
  20. I think the stock hooks are great. After a week and more fish than i'm used to catching I bent two of them out. Didn't know a direct replacement wasn't available to buy. This is my first Vision jerkbait.
  21. Looking for what others have replaced their hooks with. I tried Gamakatsu Treble Round Bend Hooks which is what Tactical Bassin recommended and it just made the lure sink. I fish a lot of ponds so a sinking jerkbait is the opposite of what I want. I messaged MegabassAmerica on IG and they said use any light wire #8 treble you want. Clearly that is not true and I am having a hard time even finding light wire trebles in size 8. So hoping some of you have an idea.
  22. I agree with you. Initially I was in love with the Trigon and do still enjoy using them. The reel seat worries me though. Its definitely a cheap plastic and tends to unscrew itself or just doesn't feel like it gets tight enough. Feels like its flexing when im fishing with it. I love everything else about the rod but wont buy more than what I have at this price point.
  23. How can I get my hands on that reel for that price?
  24. Yes I have two and I think they are awesome so far. I have been using the 7'1 M spinning for shakey heads and neko rigs and the 7 HF for swim jigs and frogs. The trigon grip really is comfortable. I do wish the plastic on the reel seat had more grip on it like the Fury does. Its not slippery or anything but just a preference.
  25. All depends on how you hold it. I have never held spinning rods full grip above the reel but with these I do. It just calls to your hand.
