  1. It seems like a higher gear ratio should be more versatile with the addition of handles so I'll grab the 8:1. Thanks for the replies.
  2. Looking at grabbing one of these but the 2 gear ratios have significantly different ipt. The 8:1 at 29" is going to be too fast for my micro/finesse cranks and Paddle tails but im worried the 7:1 are 24" may be a little too slow. For people who have these what ratio do you have and what are you using them for. Another option is the Millionaire CT SV which at 26ipt is more of what I'm used to. Lures will be between 1/8 - 1/4oz with 6 - 10lb braid.
  3. This is interesting, my favourite couple of lakes drop off immediately to 80ft so I'm often cranking at 15-25 ft deep in 60+ ft of water. I'll be trying a faster reel this spring to see if I get more bites.
  4. Bought my first glass rod or finesse cranks which is a new SLX 6'10 ML 3/16 - 3/8. I was expecting a thin noodle rod but it's thicker than my heavy power rods. It seems weird to have such a thick rod for tiny baits. If I were to spend more money on a glass rod do they get thinner or should I look at moderate action graphite rods?
  5. The best rod is subjective but I was more wondering which rod each of you would prefer for my techniques being the 3 rods are different actions and materials. Levante rods look amazing but the Shakey Head is a spinning rod and the Flatside Special doesn't have the lure range I'm looking for. I guess I would just default to the Rebellion because it's action lies in the middle of the 3 rods.
  6. Looking for a ML casting rod to toss 1/4 - 3/8 cranks and 1/4 jig heads with 2.8 keitech paddles tails on. The Zodias has 2 options one being a 7'2 ML/XF graphite, the other 7' ML/M glass. The Rebellion is a 7' ML/R graphite, which action do you think would be best? I do prefer slightly longer handles on my rods which I why I'm leaning towards the Zodias line.
  7. I've got 2 seasons on my Alloy M, casting distance is impressive, brakes control the spool well as I rarely backlash it. It feels very solid but not very smooth which I don't mind for the price. It's just a beater reel for taking camping/quadding, I've got a few Tatulas, Alphas SV, and Zillion SV for everything else.
  8. I've read that the Pyscho Sticks run on the stiff side. I'll look into the Expride, a couple other rods that have caught my eye are the Levante and Zodias lines.
  9. I want a ML spinning rod with a little flex. Does anyone have the Tatula Elite 7' rod? It says fast action and wondering if it feels a little stiff. Going to be throwing 1/4 oz cranks, small paddle tails, and dropshotting.
  10. Shimano knobs to Daiwa handle is easy with a bushing and 2 bearings, but I haven't been able to put Daiwa knobs on a Shimano handle (without there being a gap).
  11. Just checked and they've got the one I want, thanks man!
  12. I did find some used Steez A's but they were in rough shape. I'll keep searching for 6:1 in right hand and just enjoy my Zillion for now.
  13. Yah I run by line diameter more than lb test. 20lb Big Game is just a little thick for my Tatula 100, I cast far better with 15 and under. I used to run 10lb BG and never broke off but it has too much stretch which is why I run heavier 12 and 15 line. (Which are pretty much the same) 10# BG .31mm 12# BG .36mm 15# BG .38mm 20# BG .46mm
  14. I'm fine with JDM, I've got an Alphas and Zillion from Digitaka. I also saw the LTD but I own one reel in 8:1 and don't care for it. Prefer my 6 and 7 gear reels.
  15. Big Game is a thick mono, I use it and love it but 20lb is hefty. I use it for 2+ oz swimbaits and for pike fishing. I like 12lb for crank baits, lipless, ploppers, and chatterbaits. Never used it for worms, jigs or t-rigs.
  16. I've been wanting a Steez for a while now and it looks like the only ones available are the new CT and the HLC. I was wanting a non HLC aluminum frame Steez but I can't find one, same with the SV. Makes me wonder if they are coming out with new versions for 2023. Wondering if anyone has any info.
  17. Just used mine yesterday for some river grayling. Spooled with 8lb big game chucking 1/4 finese swimbaits, brakes set to 6 only thumb when it hits the water. Incredibly happy with it, big improvement over the 100 size Tatulas.
  18. Alphas SV is cheaper than a Zillion and better than a Tatula SV.
  19. I like the performance, decent distance, good control. Brakes have a nice versatile tune to them. The T Wing guide has alot of play in it as does the clutch. The whole reel feels loose but I've used mine for Pike fishing as well so maybe that's too much? If you can get it for %25 off it's a yes but I wouldn't pay full price for one. I like it better than my Revo SX but Like my Tatula 150 better than anything in that price range.
  20. Tatula 150 hands down! Pretty much the same reel though but the 150 has better brakes and more than enough line capacity, you'd be wasting money spooling a 200.
  21. Thanks for the replies, gonna pull the trigger on a spool of each brand and see what they're like.
  22. I currently run 30lb Power Pro super slick and have zero issues with line dig in. I want to try either J-braid 8x or Suffix 832 because Google says they are thinner and more supple but that makes me worried they will dig in more when casting. Anyone who uses these brands is 30lb good to go or should I run a little heavier. I like going as light as possible cause I don't fish cover and I feel like it cuts threw the water better.
  23. I like really large handle knobs because 95% of the time I'm fishing moving baits. Really large knobs actually make your handle feel like it's longer from the added width. It's fun to play around with different combinations of knobs, handle lengths, and gear ratios so I don't are what they come with from the manufacturer.
  24. I have been disappointed with the reel quality out there as well. If I spin my Tatula 100 pretty quick you can feel/hear the loose tolerances. Especially when you lightly shake it. It's a 6:1 which should be smoother than a higher gear ratio I'm told but it feels like rubbing 2 pieces of paper together when I reel in. There is also significant play in the clutch when I pinch it and wiggle it around. I own a few Tatulas and the 100 is by far the worst but none are really perfect, other than my Tatula 150. That thing just plain works. I need to get my Alphas SV spooled up with some line, I really hope it will be the one to surprise me.
