  1. I've been curious about the new Revo frames and I saw 2 threads recently asking about them, unfortunately with no replies. My tackle shop had a Daiwa and Abu sale so I grabbed a Winch along with a Tatula Elite and thought I'd post a pic and answer any questions. I'm a Daiwa guy so the only other thing I have to compare it to is a Revo 4 SX. Even though it looks dark Grey on some pictures it is matte black. The shape is a huge improvement but when I wrap my finger around the front it seems like the line will rub on top of my finger. I love my Daiwa reels for palming with my index wrapper around the front. Even on the Revo 4 SX I can feel the screw holding the line guide rub back and forth as I reel which bugs me. The handle knobs are huge and very comfortable. I do also like the ones on my SX but the ones on the Winch are even better. Turning the handle without any load or line feels smoother than my new elite. I'm going to fly south where there's no ice in a couple weeks to test it on the water. If anyone wants any info or pics I'll be happy to help.
  2. I have a 3 peice Abu Garcia IKE rod with a M and MH tip that sees a ton of use. I take it bank fishing where I need to walk/hike alot or throw it in a backpack and bike around my favourite lakes.
  3. I throw alot of moving baits on Fast action rods with Mono. I love my Tatula 150's and find the 7:1 gear ratio with 100mm handle is the perfect balance of speed and torque. My main lures for that would be shallow, mid, and lipless cranks, as well as 4 - 5" Paddle tails.
  4. Been watching the page on Digitaka to see when they're in stock. Looks like the US version comes with a deeper spool, I was wondering if the JDM ones would even hold a reasonable amount of 10lb PP they're that shallow.
  5. I've got the 6'10 ML, it's not overly heavy and a good rod for 1/4oz cranks. I've only been fishing the last week cause of the ice so I don't have a whole lot of experience with it yet. I was surprised with how thick it was when I first got it.
  6. I've had both for a couple years and just recently sold my Tatula 100 to replace it with an elite. My SV is my favourite reel and I find it more universal than just for skipping and lighter lures but im probably biased.
  7. I do but I don't notice much of a difference.
  8. Love my Daiwa's but have been eyeing the Bantam for crankbait duty. I just think 27 ipt is a little too fast, even with a 95mm handle.
  9. I've got a bunch of gomexus products cause they are just so easy to buy compared to DRT and the others. (My Zillion is only on that kastking rod cause I just spooled it with new flouro, definitely doesn't live on there)
  10. This spinning rod looks like the paint stops after the first guide and the silver looks darker than the previous models. I'm holding out hope!
  11. It's nice living vicariously through posts like these to get me through winter, looks like a good day of fishing!
  12. Been waiting for some info on these, thanks! A ML spinning rod is on my radar.
  13. Mine is a 2 piece kastking rod and the picifun allow m. Compact, cheap, and I don't mind laying in the dirt/rocks when unhooking a fish.
  14. Okuma Ceymar, very light reel and well under your budget.
  15. Tatula Elite P/F is reel designed for just that. I've got a 7'10 MH Abu IKE rod that makes a good light flipping stick as well as being able to do other things.
  16. My Tatula SV is my favourite reel, in 100 size. I have better reels but for the price I love the Tat, it has a comfortable shape to palm, feels solid and isn't as overbraked as most people say in my opinion. It's something you won't feel you need to upgrade unlike a Fuego or SLX. A 7:1 ratio is a good all around choice as well. Good luck with the overwhelming amount of options!
  17. I've been wanting to hold a Tranx 200 for a while to see how it is. The Tatulas are great reels except they are chunky for my smaller hands. Still love and use them all the time for Pike fishing.
  18. I'm a Daiwa guy and have been wanting a Shimano for a while but there's always something that turns me off. The Antares DC has me really excited but the gear ratios are at opposite ends of the spectrum either 26 IPT or 33 IPT with nothing in between. The Curados are accented in green and yellow which I don't like either. Might get a bantam and just upgrade the short handle to something a little longer. The 16 Scorpion looks decent and comes in 28 IPT but im wondering how it will perform next to reels 7 years newer. What would you all recommend to get into the Shimano world?
  19. 7'2 Zodias Medium Moderate Fast, would be great for small cranks and paddle tails. You can use mono if you want more stretch in the system but flouro will work fine.
  20. I bought the Alphas SV instead because they were the same price. The Tatula has lower IPT and comes in a 6 to 1 if you want a slower model. I do love the size of these reels alot though and my 100 size Tatula SV is my most used reel I'm sure the 70 is a winner.
  21. I have 2 Tatula 150's and I love them so much but they aren't the most comfortable to palm. If that's important to you then the Tranx might be better.
  22. I love how it looks, if only they got rid of the DC and made it smaller like a Tatula 150 replacement I'd be all over it.
  23. I'm interested in seeing how it works for you. Did you consider other budget HD reels like the Alijos before making a decision? The only Chinese reel I own is a Piscifun Allow M and I'm pretty happy with it and I'm curious about other CDM gems.
  24. Forgot to answer your question, mine don't fish below their rating at all, rod says 3/8 - 1oz and I throw 5/8 - 1oz cranks comfortably. They are great rods but the locking nut on the reel handle looks cheap on the MS-1 but much better on the Basspara.
  25. I have the MS-1 7'5 heavy cranking stick with a "medium" action which I assume means moderate. It has a 17.5" handle which I love. Most rods fall into the 14 - 15" handles but I prefer them longer and never buy a rod under 15. It's a strong rod, I'd guess it's all graphite from the action and weight of it. I've also got the Basspara 6'9 M/MF and it's got a 15.75" handle, same as my Zodias 7'2 M/MF which I find is the perfect all purpose length though most would disagree.
