  1. I have probably 13-15 combos. Two are dedicated panfish setups, one ultralight and one medium light. Pfluegers trions. 6lb braid to 4lb fluoro for the UL, 8 lb braid to 6lb fluoro for the ML. I have 3 "general purpose" Abu SilverMax combos, all MH/F, all with 15lb 8 carrier braid. 1 Shimano curado DC combo. Revo S on a Veritas PLX medium with 10lb spiderwire invisibraid, and Revo S spinning on Veritas PLX medium with 8lb suffix promix braid. I use these for "light duty" finesse fishing. Revo SX on a H/F veritas TE rod for frogs/top water/a-rigs with 40lb braid. Revo SX spinning on a Veritas TE MH/F rod I use for finesse or swimbaits with 10lb braid. Revo MGX on a Fantasista X MH/XF rod with 20lb braid. This is my main finesse combo. I have a few others, but I won't bore you any longer lol This time of year, I'm usually targeting panfish, so the Pfleuger Trion combos get a serious workout, and I sometimes bring the sx spinning combo if I wanna try for a few bass. I try to bring as little as I can when I go fishing.
  2. Thanks for the info!! Any commentary on the sensitivity of the rods using that? I know the Abu uses 40 and 44ton modulus graphite. My Fantasista-X uses 40 and is supremely light and sensitive, and the Zenon is supposed to be a step up. If the st Croix is superior, I'm going w the better rod, not the name.
  3. It had been 10-15 years since I used a beetlespin. Don't know why I quit using them, because they catch everything that swims.
  4. The new 5th gen Revo reels from Abu Garcia look killer. The 5th gen Revo SX is on my list of must haves from this year's icast. I have been SLAYING big huge bluegills on a beetlespin with a Donkey Tail Jr lure on the jig head to replace the original grub body. I hauled in a dozen really nice black crappie on the same lure last Friday as well The donkey tail Jr baits are essentially elaztech material, and are panfish sized. Try em out...I'm absolutely a new believer in them after my first trip out trying em.
  5. Anyone know what this is? They introduced the new St. Croix Legend Tournament Series Casting Rods made of "SCIV+" graphite at icast this year. They called it "super high modulus" graphite, but gave no other specs except SCIV+...and I've no idea what that is. I'm looking to put together a true high end combo, and the Abu Garcia Zenon rod is on my short list, but so is this st croix...if I knew more about its construction. I wish all manufacturers would just spell out the modulus in tons so consumers could more readily know what's in the blank. Whichever rod I chose, it'll be paired with a new Zenon MG-LTX reel as my new high end finesse combo.
  6. If I deep hook or gut hook a fish, I cut the hook off at the barn and remove it. I'd rather tie on another hook than unnecessarily injure an animal I intend to release.
  7. A 4" powerbait pit boss with a 3/16 tungsten weight.
  8. I use 10lb test Hercules no fade braid on my finesse spinning rigs. No leader.
  9. That's what I meant. It's on the la wallet app thing.
  10. Ours is tied do our driver's license. There's also an app.
  11. The usdm version so it would be more versatile.
  12. Two were killed here last week after two bass boats hit head-on. They just found one of the bodies two days ago.
  13. I've been waiting for it to be announced for months now. I just ordered a new Abu Garcia Zenon MG-LTX reel and Zenon M/F rod. Both are backordered until next month, but I'm GIDDY with excitement over it! The reel is designed for throwing light finesse lures, which is my favorite way to fish, and all the reviews on the rods I can find report stellar sensitivity. If the Zenon rod is better than my Fantasista-X, I'll be HIGHLY impressed, as I've let a few people use it, and one of them described it as "almost telepathically sensitive". It took me some getting used to bc you feel EVERYthing with it. I hope the Zenon is worth the price bump. Fingers crossed!!!!
  14. I use E15 in my car, E0 in the boat.
  15. I have a Fantasista X casting rod paired with a Revo MGX that I love. Never tried the spinning version. Thanks a ton for the link!!! Abu's Fantasista line of rods have consistently been in the top 5 of nearly every fishing tackle reviewer sites I've read, and I can honestly say that my Fantasista X casting rod is the lightest, most sensitive rod I own.
  16. A Fantasista X spinning rod coupled with a Revo stx
  17. Anybody know when omnia, tw, etc start their memorial day sales? I got one more combo to buy lol
  18. Pfleuger Trion combo from bps. $70. I bought one a month ago, and honestly, the more I'm using it, the more I like it. I've been using it for panfishing and throwing ultra-finesse lures for bass using 6lb p-line CX, and I have to admit that although I'm an Abu Garcia man, this Pfleuger is performing VERY well.
  19. Where I am, it's usually carp or mullets.
  20. Ironically or not, I've had all the others veritas rods 1-3 years. This one was the "youngest".
  21. I have no preference either way.
  22. I've only had one other rod break in my entire life: an old Shakespeare graphite rod from the 1980's that was so beat to death in the bottom of a bateau that I was surprised it lasted THAT long. This one just snapped right between the 4th and 5th guides.
