  1. I bought ONE thing this year since my combo collection is full: a 13 fishing Omen Panfish and trout rod in 5'6" L/F. 36T graphite. Plan to use it for very small ned rig type stuff.
  2. A powerbait pit boss.
  3. Pit boss
  4. Conversely, you are hooking a fish that at the largest, weighs 10-12lbs. If you're setting the hook so hard that your jig comes flying out the water, you need to watch fewer yt videos and ads. It's just not necessary.
  5. People who use hooksets like you see in rod commercials are n00bs in my opinion. You swing for the fences = new to fishing/no idea what you're doing. I've NEVER had to do much more than lift my rod sharply to get a good hookup
  6. 4" powerbait pit boss. Bama bug color.
  7. Only pistol grip rod I have is a 1980's Browning Boron rod. They served a purpose, but the newer split grip rods are just SO much better balanced that the old pistol grip style just feels odd. Plus, they wear your wrist out fishing with em all day. BUT...you can't beat em for accuracy.
  8. My standard finesse setup is a 7' MH/f Abu Garcia Veritas tournament rod with a Revo SX spooled with green 20lb Hercules no fade 8 carrier braid. No leader.
  9. I've never heard of the weight breaking the line...or at least it's never happened to me in all the years I've been fishing, but then again, I quit using fluoro because it's garbage.
  10. Yeah this has been going around. It's pathetic...and yet another reason I don't do tournaments. Cheaters rarely get caught, and these two guys have been doing it for years.
  11. The pit boss is my "standard" bass lure. They're underrated imo.
  12. 1. Powerbait pit boss 2. Beetle spins with Bobby Garland baby shads 3. Devil horse 4. Scum frog
  13. That's my m.o. as well. I don't even bother answering them.
  14. That rod will definitely serve your needs very well. Kistler makes excellent rods. I prefer them over st Croix
  15. For $150, it's *definitely* worth it. Mine is 7', MH/XF. And yes, I use it mostly for casting 4" powerbait pit bosses on a 3/0 EWG gamakatsu hook with a pegged 1/8oz black tungsten weight. The X is lighter and uses a higher percentage of the high-modulus graphite throughout the blank, so it's thinner and therefore lighter. The premier user it primarily in the butt section, with the bulk of the rod being 32ton. The X is a 36ton blank throughout. I've fished them both side by side. The X is definitely more sensitive, but at $330, it's more than 2x the price of the premier right now, and isn't 2x better if you know what I mean. Let me put it this way: I bought my Fantasista X first. If I would have bought the Premier first, I probably wouldn't have gotten the X, and went straight for a Zenon instead.
  16. Wasn't asked of me, but I'll give my opinion on it: The newer Fantasista X is superior without a doubt. However, the premier *IS* a higher end rod than 99% of what you'd find at $150 lol! The fit and finish on mine is stunning. It's easily the best looking rod I own. Sensitivity is on par with the Veritas tournament edition rods....which is to say...excellent for $150. However, if I'd paid $300 for it, I'd be kinda ticked lol Yes. I mostly use Abu Garcia rods. I mostly use it for light Texas rigs with 1/8oz tungsten weights. I'm a finesse guy. 95% of my fishing is finesse fishing, so I'm SUPER picky about rod sensitivity, etc. The Veritas Tournament rods have about the same level of sensitivity as the premier, but they're over $150. It's gonna be really really hard to find a rod for $150 that's gonna beat the premier. My Fantasista X definitely beats it...but it's $330. I got the MH/XF. It's about on par with the Veritas TE MH/XF I own, so you can go that route for $180 if you like the feel of the premier and want similar feeling rods without breaking the bank.
  17. It's working out very well so far. I have mine paired with a 4th gen SilverMax reel and 20lb Hercules braid as a kayak combo. Would be lighter with a better reel, but I bought it for like $150, so my MGX reel is on my newer Fantasista X rod.
  18. I use the hammer hogs whenever I can find them. The fish don't care what brand of lure you use.
  19. Baby brush hog.
  20. My frog setup is a 7'3" H/F Abu Garcia Veritas tournament rod paired with a Revo-SX high speed spoiled up with 8 strand Hercules no fade braid in black. 45lb test.
  21. I don't even fish in my kayak without a PFD on. Why some people refuse to wear one is beyond me. You see a body that has to be hooked and dragged up, you'll start wearing one.
  22. All of my ultralights are size 500 reels. Next size up I have a medium light with a 1000 size. All of my finesse bass spinning setups are size 3000's.
  23. I leave all the settings the same as I have them for regular casting, and use my thumb to compensate.
