well if your a nonboater then it depends how the boater if fishing if hes fishing slow then you can have any option you want but if he is fishin fast might have to just drag a carolina rig out the back of the boat i had to do this once this tourney season actually caught about 5 pounds doing this if they are bustin shad id say use a lipless crankbait but if they are bustin on top the surface use a popper or a jerkbait

you can definintly do without gps but if affordable it is a very nice feature i would strongly recommend getting a keelsheild installed on the boat also
